I second your comment. Most of the hand full of reactors I watch said Toga was crazy, she was beyond help and needed to be dealt with, felt bad to hear that from anyone especially when one of the major themes of the story is how society has thrown people away. Great comment and great reaction as usual I always take something enlightening away from an AutoSave reaction. Peace.

also a reminder for how erasure works, Monoma doesn't need to keep his gaze on Shigaraki. Once you look at someone and activate erasure it is a constant state until you blink, regardless of if you're still looking at them. Way back in the fight with Suneater Aizawa erased the mobster's quirks and then left and they couldn't use their quirks for a bit after he left because he was trying to help Suneater by keeping it active for a time. Now that monoma has already erased shigaraki's quirks he can look away all he wants, as long as he doesn't blink and aizawa doesn't break contact for more than 5 minutes shigaraki has no quirk indefinitely. The tricky thing with monoma is he can't use quirks simultaneously, if he could he could actually go ahead and fetch Deku and as long as he doesn't blink in that time things would be fine, but as it is he would have to stop using erasure to use warp.

The score you mentioned as Endeavour's theme seems to be more of a Todoroki family theme - it was first played in season two when Shoto fought Deku and is called 'Your Power (Kimi no chikara)'. A version of it was also played during Endeavour's fight with the nomu at the end of season four and it was also played in the episode you just watched (season seven episode eight). It's such a haunting piece and fits with these highly emotional moments, and this family saga as a whole.

I was waiting for this reaction! Episode 8 was peak! Thank you, great analysis and theories as always.

I was also quite taken with the callback to the "it's YOUR quirk" moment and this is such a great payoff for that, Shoto didn't become a better version of his dad with his dad's power just with some added support, he created something on his own that is uniquely his. It gives me even greater appreciation for what a good boy deku is, his moments of heroism come back later allowing other people to be heroes too

7X6: As someone who has been a massive Monoma fan every since he was introduced, this stuff was so PEAK for me. I remember being kinda disappointed that Monoma was introduced as this super calm and super intelligent guy and then very quickly became more like a gag in every instance after his appearance. But then one day Hori made a comment that Monoma and Shinsou would have big moments in the future. So I waited. And this did NOT disappoint. Monoma warps the heroes in, splits the villains up, hops over to Aizawa and then IMMEDIATELY has Shigaraki on lockdown. MVP Monoma for the win. I get it. Everyone is playing their part in this. But like, if Monoma wasn't here, Shigaraki could literally just insta-decay the battlefield and all of this planning wouldn't matter. I'm sure some people will come around to him after this episode. But as someone who's been a fan of his since the beginning, this episode was especially rewarding. He's the star. Now then, that's enough Monoma analysis. Time for the others. Toga snatched Deku and threw a huge wrench in the entire operation. AFO roasting Endeavor for once again looking away from Touya and forcing the burden onto Shoto is definitely something. AFO seemingly was about to use a massive decay wave but Shigaraki seemed to stop him. Reason being, Dabi had already leapt out in front of him. So if AFO decayed everything in front of him, Dabi would've likely been caught in the crossfire. Now, despite AFO clearly being in control at the start of the battle, Shigaraki makes that comment at the end about thinking that he used to think Aizawa was cool but right now he's just a letdown. That obviously isn't AFO. Shigaraki is the only one who's ever thought Erasurehead was cool. As he said in S1 and 6. The line between AFO and Shigaraki has become so blurred that it feels like either one can step into the drivers seat at a moments notice. Despite that, there's still some resistance from Shigaraki's side(as we saw when he stopped the decay wave). Monoma pulled the strings. And now the battles are about to begin. 7X7: Ah yes. The quirk doomsday theory. The idea that one day quirks will become far too powerful for the body to handle. Shigaraki is currently facing off against it. And as a result, his body is constantly changing and adapting to match the strain of handling multiple quirks. We saw in his battle with Star that his hair grew longer. In the cave he spawned hands from his body. And now here we are. Even without quirks, he has hands spewing out in every direction. It's a race against the clock. Because if all of those hands can use decay, the battle is instantly over. Deku has to make it back before Shigaraki gets his quirks back or manages to take everyone else out. I also love how the narration calls Deku a "damned nerd" because that's what Bakugo always calls him. Moving on to Toga and Ochako. Toga has constantly been told by her parents, friends and society itself to just "be normal". To just get rid of the parts of herself that were gross and fit in with everyone else. Instead of trying to help her, they tried to bury her problems. They told her she didn't belong. It also ties back in to what happened to Twice. Sure, Twice was dangerous. And that's why the Public Safety commission told Hawks to either subdue or neutralize him. But why is it that hero society only pays attention to villains AFTER they've been kicked down by society? Even when Hawks tries to convince Twice to give up, he insults his life and his friends while doing so and simply tells him to start over. Instead of trying to fix the problem, hero society is constantly either about suppression or just moving on. So Toga asks Deku and Ochako the same question. What do they want to do to her. She loves the both of them. And they both give answers that disappoint her. So she solidifies her conviction and decides to fight. Now Touya and Shoto. Dabi once again showing that him saying he doesn't care about the League is a lie. Because in the same speech expressing his disappointment about his Dad not being there, he then starts talking about the League and their problems with society. He doesn't talk about them as if their goals are different. He speaks about how all of these different convictions came together because of the failures of hero society. And he includes himself among them. "That's me. That's us." And now Touya is about to tell us the story. Of Dabi's origin. 7X8: The fight was amazing. But honestly the flashback stuff with Touya was sad as well. We see even after everything Endeavor did, Touya was still willing to put his feelings of hurt aside and just go back home and apologize. Endeavor kept telling Touya to give up on his ambitions because it would only hurt Touya. But Endeavor himself never gave up on that dream. He kept trying to have children to make the "perfect kid". Then Touya literally exploded and burned alive because of the emotional and psychological trauma he went through because of Endeavor's ambitions. And even after all that, Endeavor didn't stop. Touya came home and saw that Endeavor had just gotten worse. While he was alive, Touya couldn't change anything. And even in death, Touya couldn't change anything. His father didn't learn anything. It's like his very existence was meaningless. So if Touya didn't have any meaning, he would be burned to ash and be reborn as Dabi. With flames so hot even the Demon Lord himself couldn't control them. I also love that Dani started to burn through the All Might statue. Because living up to that impossible ideal and his father's envy are what tore their family apart to begin with. And once again Dabi acknowledges again that he and the League are the accumulation of everything wrong with Hero Society. Their pain was created because of the failures of society. Which makes it even more fitting that Dabi begins to burn down the literal symbol of hero society.
