I always saw Dark Shadow as Tokoyami's id incarnate, or maybe like his subconscious given form. Since he's so reserved his true emotions are shown through Dark Shadow. I imagine they had deep discussions late at night when Tokoyami couldn't sleep. This is probably what led him to adore shadows, darkness, and the occult as such discussions would automatically feel like speaking with an old friend.

I mean i get that Tokoyami likes to be alone and Tsuyu is the opposite. But i mean, i really like being alone and just learn things myself but that does not mean i cant fall inlove with someone who likes to be around people. Take Asuna x Kirito for instance. Kirito doesnt really like meeting other people but Asuna has alot of friends and liked being around people. Still, they are dating. Edit: *Tokoyami x Tsuyu Forever*

I honestly love these two, both as characters and a ship. Though I do find myself shipping Tokoyami with others out of curiosity. Like Tokoyami x Bakugou, or Tokoyami x Izuku. I feel some of them can work and would be cute, but that's just me. Who knows? I'm probably really dumb.
