I’m glad to have found you. I have been natural for years and didn’t know what my porosity was. I think I have finally figured out that my hair is high porosity I’ve damaged it due to dyeing and am trying to regrow it and really focus on the health over length. I have HP hair and I use coconut oil in protein treatments. Recently I use coconut milk from the can and dont use the oil at all. I add to rice water or rice milk and sit on my hair for 30-45 min with heat, wash as normal, and then deep condition with heat. After that...I install a protective style (flexirods, mini twists, finger coils, loose twists) and then seal with shea butter...sticking to this general routine has literally changed my hair.

Hi Khadijah! You look lovely as always. I just bought the Spectrum unrefined coconut oil from Walmart for 6.94. I was glad they actually had it! I used to pre-poo with coconut oil years ago after seeing that it was a staple in your routine, but I slacked off for some reason. I've been struggling with dryness so hopefully pre-pooing with the coconut oil will make a difference for me. I also am going to try the Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Penetrating Treatment. I just ordered the CR coconut water leave in and I'm looking forward to using it this wash day. I usually use Kinky Curly Knot Today, but I'm out and you really have me wanting to try the Camille Rose, lol! Really?! Girl, I love looking at studies lol. Researching in general is my thing. I find the information so interesting. ; I don't part my hair at all Fay lol! Since I always do twist outs, I think my hair just naturally divided itself into its own parts over time. I get rid of the parts by picking my hair (usually picking upside down does the trick). I was looking online for KZbinrs with high porosity hair that have a similar hair density to mine and you fit perfectly 😱. It's almost eerie. But funnily, my issues are the opposite of yours. The front of my hair and nape are somewhat long (though I'm not sure if they're still growing 🤷🏾♀️); but my middle section is what I need to catch up in length with the rest of my hair. Also while my hair seems and stays soft when I give it extra attention, it's not shiny at all. It tends to frizz out of my protective straight-backs hairstyle... And I think I have really dry scalp (not itchy) with all the dustings I see on my hair every now and again. I'd appreciate any recommendations from everyone ☺️. I need to see some improvement this year as part of my hair goals (Bra-band length seems like a dream 😅). Thanks!

Hi Ikhina! Thank you so much ❤️ Hmm, I haven't installed cornrows on my natural hair before, so I'm not 100% certain of the best way to take them out. I just want some help because I’ve use the aphogee protein with amazing results and I clarified with a sulfate shampoo, but now I’m wondering should I be washing my hair with sulfate free shampoos n conditioners like you? GIRL GIRL GIRL IM SO EARLY. Please help a girl with high porosity hair out. How many times per week/month do I prepoo? How many product should contain protein ingredients? And which oil is best for you prepoo and which oil is best for sealing? Please help me I’m really struggling with breakage and I feel like cantu is the cause. :( Side note: I wash my hair two times a week, I clarify every two weeks, use a deep conditioner every week.WHEN DOES THE PROTEIN TREATMENT COME?!! I’m so lost !
@AfroKhadisiac4 жыл бұрын
YES GIRL! I SEE YOU LOL! You asked some really great questions Iz! I have answers for them all. Please see below. How many times per week/month do I prepoo? I pre-poo every time I wash my hair. I wash my hair once a week, so that comes up to about 4x a month. How many products should I use that contain protein ingredients? This really depends on your hair type & hair health. Every person with high porosity hair may not need to use as many products that contain protein. I like my shampoo & deep conditioner to contain protein. As long as there's protein in these 2 products, I know that my curls are going to feel strengthened and be defined. The rest of the products I use can be protein free. Which oil is best for you to prepoo with and which oil is best for sealing? Personally, I love Coconut Oil for prepooing my high porosity hair. However, as I mentioned in the video, there are definitely other oils out there that can mimic what Coconut oil does. I haven't tried any of those oils as of yet, but they're definitely on my list to try in the near future. As for sealing, Extra Virgin Olive oil has always been my go-to. It was the first oil that I ever used to seal my hair and it worked. When does the protein treatment come? I always clarify in the beginning of each month. (The first wash day of the month). After I clarify, I do a protein treatment. Its best to do your protein treatment on clarified hair so that the protein can repair your hair from the inside and out (a clean strand of hair helps the product penetrate & adhere better). I hope this was helpful! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@sgflower42334 жыл бұрын
Hii I have a question. What do I do on the day of clarify? Prepoo and deepcondition? Or just one? And when I do protein preatment, should I be doing anything before or after?
@AfroKhadisiac4 жыл бұрын
Hi Flower! 👋🏾 Great questions. On the day that I clarify, I start out with my overnight prepoo as shown in the video. I do that prior to washing my hair every single week. Afterwards, I clarify with ApHogee's Shampoo for Damaged hair. Next, I use a protein treatment. I'm using ORS Hair Mayonaisse this year. After that, I follow up with a deep conditioner to balance out the protein. I like to use Creme of Nature's Pure Honey Mask. I prepoo, clarify, protein treat and deep condition and style over the course of 2 days. When I don't clarify, my routine usually consists of only prepooing, shampooing, deep conditioning and styling. I hope this was clear and helpful! ❣️

Hi Charlie, thank you so much! 😘 I don't recommend styling fine high porosity hair while soaking wet because that's when the hair is weakest. I use the Turbie Twist for 30 mins to absorb all of the excess water then I spray my hair lightly to add a little water back.
