FWIW- I was told by my pharmacist when I lived in Paris to use Bioderma to remove makeup and cleanse in order to avoid washing my face with cleanser and water on the daily. The reason was that the water in Paris is quite hard, and the pharmacists believe this is unnecessarily stripping to the skin. So they tell everyone only to wash their face with water when in the shower, and use Bioderma all other times. Apparently this is what Bioderma was formulated for, and therefore it is less harsh on sensitive skin than water!

I love that product so much! It's done a lot for my skin as I no longer do a morning cleanse at the sink or in the shower. I have been raving about it since I started using it and now I'm very curious about trying more products from Bioderma. Avene also makes some stand out products.

My new favorite holy grail is COSRX Purefit CICA Intense Cream. I have sensitive combination skin, very oily t zone and neck with dry cheeks and I’m really amazed by how this moisturizer sinks into my skin, is soothing and hydrating, and locks in moisture overnight without feeling heavy or sticky. I never thought my skin would enjoy this type of consistency in a cream (because I thought products like these are only for dry skin) but it just drinks it up and is so supple in the morning! COSRX formulation is so impressive !!

If I were forced to use only one skincare product it would be the Dear Klairs Unscented Supple Preparation Toner. It serves so many purposes and have never found anything that’s as good. I keep multiple bottles of it at all times. It’s my number one holy grail. I also love the Bioderma MIcellar Water. It’s great for sensitive skin, does such a great job and is firmly in holy grail status. Other holy grails include the Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid booster. A surprise holy grail that I got in a beauty box and left it sitting in the cabinet for months before really trying it is the Peach & Lily glass skin refining serum. I don’t know why it took me so long to use it, but once I did, the results were phenomenal. I just repurchased the jumbo size. It had one of the most dramatic changes in a very short period of time. I mix it with the Paula’s choice Azelaic Acid booster and apply after the Dear Klairs toner. It is now a holy grail product for me. Another product from a beauty box that is now a hold grail is the Purito Centella Recovery Cream. I didn’t expect to love it so much, but it is seriously great at repairing and keeping a healthy skin barrier. The Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid Peptide Cream is seriously good too and maybe better for the colder months. I play around with skincare products but always come back to these. Thanks for making great content. I feel like we have similar skin types so I can often pick up some useful knowledge watching your videos.

I came looking for this video a few times! When I first watched, the bioderma micellar water blew my mind. I’ve been using the garnier micellar water for years and kind of just accepted that if it burned that was normal. I bought the bioderma micellar water and couldn’t believe the difference. Thinking about how you mentioned that it was designed to be used in places where water was scarce and how it broke down even waterproof makeup, dirt, oil etc. I decided to try it on the hard to get dirt behind my daughters ears and it worked so well at breaking it down. Multipurpose for our whole family. It also helps get the remnants of those temporary tattoos off of her.

Yes! Exactly! For some reason, my eyelids tend to get uncomfortably oily which is extremely irritating, especially after I wash, moisturize, etc. But my under eye area is awfully dry. I absolutely adore Saturday Skins vitamin C eye cream. While I don’t think wye creams are necessity and I usually used my regular moisturizer for my eyes, I’ve been using this for about a month now and see a significant difference in texture and color correction. For anyone that has this odd issue with oily eyelids but dry under eyes, this cream is definitely a contender to help with both of those issues simultaneously.

I fully agree with you about the Klaire's toner, it's lovely! I got some in a curated box a couple of months ago. One thing that you didn't mention about it is how economical it is. I find that I really don't need to use a lot of it and when I've used other toners on cotton wool pads, they just don't seem to last very long at all but there's no wastage with the Klaire's toner (maybe it's because I don't use cotton wool with it, I dunno, but it's lovely and I'd recommend it to everyone too).

It really took me so much time to find products that would help with my acne and damaged prone skin, so I'd say today that my holy grails are surely the Vitamin C and E moisturiser from The Inkey List, squalene oil, their succinic blemish treatment and their spf zinc moisturiser based. I don't use a lot of different brands, for many reasons, so for now i'm sticking with them bc it really really works for my needs + it's very affordable, like budget worthy. I like some of their other products but those one are my go-to no matter what, they helped me to restore my skin barrier, moisturise my skin without unwanted oil, helped me so much with breakouts, and the spf is golden ✨️

I'm definitely going to try to purchase all of these products you mentioned because your preferences in skincare, your skin concerns and your skin type even the skin around your eyes seems to be very very similar(unbelievably similar) to mine. from the mentioned ones the only one I have tried so far is the Bioderma micellar water and it's my holy grail too. one of the rare micellar waters that doesn't irritate my skin or my eyes, does a great job in removing makeup and sunscreen and keeps my rosacea at bay. but I usually use it as first step in my double cleansing routine when I have sunscreen or makeup. when I don't have, I just wash my face with a gentle cleanser(right now my go to is The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser)

I didn’t expect to love it so much because I didn’t really understand how to use it at first, but the ordinary’s azelaic acid has been a lifesaver for treating my mild cystic acne on a budget. It’s earned a spot as a holy grail simply because it works for what I need it for :)
@melodyblackhall67022 жыл бұрын
Have u tried the inkey list or Paula's choice azelaic acid? I prefer both of those over the ordinary's because that one was way too dimethicone heavy for me. I like the glass skin look and though the ordinary says silicone free when u go to the ingredients dimethicone (silicone) is in the top 5 ingredients. I have dry skin so I avoid any skincare with dimethicone in it as it mattifies my face too much. If you're having good luck with the ordinary especially if your skin tends to be oily go ahead and stick with that one. I haven't been able to find the inkey List's version lately but the Paula's choice one also contains licorice root extract which is fantastic for lightening up hyperpigmentation as well as salicylic acid which helps prevent future breakouts.

@@melodyblackhall6702 my skin type has always been oily and now I’m cystic acne prone as I’m on hrt and that has upped my oil production and hormonal acne. I plan on trying other brands, but currently the ordinary is the only one that fits in my budget. I know it’s not the best on the market, lots of people have issues with it (for good reason!) but I just found this one works really well right now for my specific needs. I hope other folks who haven’t figured out how to use it could find it useful in keeping sudden cystic breakouts at bay 😅 it works so much better for me than a BP spot treatment.

James do you take finesteride or something for your hair? Or are you just blessed with a perfect hairline?

I think you have to remove the micellar water afterwards though because it is technically a surfactant and can irritate your skin if you leave it on.

Thank you for the ultimate Digest! Just one thing... What do you recommend for a 'glowy' toner (that *isn't* Glow-Recipe)? Something K Beauty would be best as it's more available/affordable in NZ than anything from Europe or the USA (by the time it gets here it's 2-3 times the price). We only just got Cerave here... that's how far behind we are. CosRX was here before Cerave!

Hi James. Can you suggest a really good facial mist to use with skincare and just to use throughout these hot days - my skin is like 🔥

I personally love the Haruharu black bamboo mist. There is alcohol in this product but it's pretty far down on the ingredients list and as someone with dry, dehydrated skin it's still my favorite. I can't stand anything that smells like rose oil or rose water! The smell is so overwhelming and strong it triggers my migraines! I had recently bought the fresh rose deep hydration toner from Sephora and returned it the next day!🤢

Even tho most of these products aren’t available here, it really helps knowing the ingredients that make them good, so that I can try and find something else that might have a similar effect😅🥹

James, I would love if you tried the Neulii Squalane Desertica Moisture Cream! I’ve gotten it on YesStyle twice now and I haven’t seen anyone talk about the product or the brand for that matter. I’m thinking it’s probably similar to the Jordan Samuel one you mentioned💜
