Something you said really resonated with me - I’ve never had kids but I want to but I always had that fear because I know for a fact I’m not a physically strong person and giving birth sounds like the scariest thing ever. But hearing you say that you don’t consider yourself strong but you still did it is AMAZING! Thank you for your story.

Giving birth is the hardest job ever it’s painful it’s exhausting but once that baby is out you that pain disappears and your heart is filled with a joy and love that’s unexplainable. Then the fun part begins watch those b cups turn to double dds. First time in my life I ever had big round perky tits. I was in awe. Couldn’t stop looking in the mirror 😂

Firstly congratulations!!!! Secondly girl what do you mean you're not a strong person? Girl...! How dare you say that about yourself when you've transformed your entire life to be healthier and more fulfilling for yourself and your family? Most of us barely have the discipline to eat healthy for a week and here you are having transformed your entire lifestyle and inspiring thousands to do the same. You put in tons of hours, research, money, effort, passion etc. You're the strongest KZbin mom I know☺

I can’t speak for all hospitals but with my first daughter I delivered at the hospital but with a midwife and my fiancé was encouraged/welcomed to be heavily involved by my midwife and nurses . We assumed he would kind of just be sitting around but it was the exact opposite . He held my leg as I was pushing as well and even got to do skin to skin with her as well while I was cleaning off and using the restroom . I guess it just depends on the hospital and the doctor or midwife . Congrats on a successful homebirth and VBAC . Baby Alma is gorgeous 💕

Thank you for sharing! My birth story is very similar to yours. I wish I had mine at home but I was fortunate to give birth at a birthing center. I had so much support from my midwife, nurse assistants, my sister, my SO and his family. I understand what you mean about not feeling you were strong. I felt the same way. Right before I gave birth, I wanted to give up so bad. I really thought I was going to have a c-section because it took my daughter a really look time to come out. I believe God felt my feelings of despair and little did I know I felt my daughter head push through on its own. Anyway, congrats to you, your family on the new addition!

Hey Alba, congratulations!!! Times have definitely changed for the better. I am a nursing student and I did clinicals in a labor and delivery unit. They give both the mother and the father the option to do skin to skin and the doctor and nurses even push it because it's so good for the baby.

This is so amazing and so inspiring... My first birth was so horrible, it was me living my worst nightmare for three months and feeling suicidal because my hospital birth was so horrible each day for ten days that I was there! And it makes me feel sad because my pregnancy was so perfect that I thought that's how it was going to be until I give birth! Now that we are planning to have a second baby, I'm petrified to be back at the hospital, I'm petrified to be treated like the first time so now watching this videos I have gathered some information that I would explore a bit more and talk to my doctor about it because I definitely want a peaceful birth this time. Thank you for your video! Xxxx

This is so inspiring to me, I am due my baby boy in August. I live in England and I’m unable to have a home birth so will be in the hospital, but here I am so lucky the hospital has a new labour / delivery ward which each room is able to be as relaxing, so homely and peaceful than the American hospital I see online/TV. Your birth story has reminded me that my body is made to birth this baby, to get my boy into this world completely naturally and totally calm. Thank you Alma, even your voice is calming!

I completely agree with the whole vulnerability feeling when giving birth at the hospital. When I found out that I was pregnant with my son I so desperately wanted a home birth, but unfortunately I was unable to have that. When we arrived at the hospital and my contractions started getting worse I kept getting asked if I wanted medication and an epidural. I gave in. I was vulnerable. It was what it was and he is now a happy crazy two year old! Watching your labor/delivery story has made me want a home and medication free birth even more! Thank you for sharing your story! Congratulations to you and your beautiful family!

Congratulations on your VBAC! My experience with my delivery I can honestly that my care in the hospital was amazing family members were very hands on. The doctors were very patient and caring they didn’t treat me as sick patient which was good. I wasn’t pressured into doing anything I felt wasn’t right by the doctors. My only regret is taking the epidural. I totally agree with you on that because when you’re in the moment and the pain is hard to deal with you’re vulnerable to say yes even if you know deep down you don’t want to do it. But I’m so happy that you’re home birth went amazing because if you didn’t consider yourself to be very strong before you’re a warrior now because it’s hard going through that pain.

My 4th birth with my son was a homebirth. I was 95% prepared(I had no plastic for the floor) bc he came at 36.2w, lol. My birthing pool wasn't at my house because they generally bring them after 37w. My labor started about 5:40a Monday. It really picked up that evening. My midwife came Tuesday morning and I was ready to push. My water broke while I was pushing--went everywhere. Plus my son had double nuchal hands(both up by his face instead of down by his sides) so I had to push his body out instead of it just sliding out easily. On the upside, I was over it and got his entire head out in one push, lmao. It was my best and most favorite birth bc I was just left alone!

Our stories are so similar! I had a home birth after an 11 year gap! Born few weeks after Alma. A boy then a girl so one of each and feeling soooo blessed. First in hospital and hardly remember any of it which takes something away from the experience. Had gas and air and pethidine and I think that affected how I bonded with him, had PND. Second at home, not even gas and air. Still an intense experience and certainly not 'easy' but very different. Feel way more connected to her and really positive about the whole event! Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Best wishes and lots of love xxx

Thank you for sharing Alba I don't have kids but dream and pray of having a family one day and in the past few years of getting a better understanding & love of home births vs hospital births, midwives + Doulas just seeing how much different one another is all the way down to the energy of the way women share their stories. Home birthing/ water-birthing is also what I pray for when the time comes and your statement that you don't consider yourself a strong woman but not a weak women yet you still did it really hit home for me because I don't think I'll be able to do it even though but that gave me faith that God can will and has already given women +me everything needed to bring life into this world the way he intended so thank you for that 🖤

My baby girl was born on 3/13/2018! I feel a lot of hospitals are changing he way they do births. I had a midwife and the hospital staff was amazing. I laboured in the tub, totally natural birth, my husband, mom, mother in law, and my two older boys (age 8 and 2) were in the room with me. My husband never left my side and the nurses were all about whatever I wanted to do and however I felt comfortable! I had a great experience but like you I was at more informed this time around. For my first birth I felt taken advantage of and given an unnecessary episiotomy. This time I was able to do everthing I wanted, including no IV, skin to skin, delayed cord clamp, no eye ointment for baby, and breastfeed on demand! A home birth was my dream but just not doable for us. So glad you had a great experience!

So did u bleed a lot after? Do u take the baby to the hospital at all after birth? Asking becuz I wanna do a home birth. But I'm used to going to a hospital just to checkup every thing.

TheyCallMe Auntee after the birth you just stay home, assuming there were no complications. You can make an appointment to see your pediatrician a few days after the birth just as you would with a hospital birth. Most homebirth midwives include postnatal care in their service fee. Typically they will visit your home to check on you an the baby 1 day, 1 week, and 4 weeks after the birth. I appreciated that so much after all 3 of my homebirths that I didn’t have to get the baby into the car to go to all these appointments (just the pediatrician a few days after) and I could just chill at my house with the baby from the very beginning. It was wonderful!

I love you so much ! You go girl ! Thank you so much for sharing . Girl I was reliving your pain and my delivery pain.. lol..but at the end is all worth it! Thank you Lord! I have 4 kids and I was 20 when I had my first child - and at that time I wasn’t well educated on the giving birth process , I was induced just bc my doctor was there that night and I took the epidural ... ( didn’t like the experience) going forward with my other 3 kids- I delivered in a hospital but didn’t take any pain killer. I pushed naturally and at the end it’s much better and your body appreciates it and also your baby. What I wished I knew then was ( letting the umbilical cord to release the blood on its on) I read that now days if you ask in the hospital that they honor that. Also, I wish I could had saved my placenta. You covered everything, all important key points. Thank You Alba !! Bendiciones 😘

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am currently deciding whether a homebirth is for me. I'm nervous about it because it would be a vbac. The hospitals here are not supportive of VBAC's sadly so I'm considering it. Your video was encouraging. I have a doula and they have connected me with midwives so 🙏🏾. Blessings to your family.
