I have the Switcheon unit and it works flawlessly! Unfortunately no GSM networks where I’m at.

nice video with a great outcome... you really surprised me, when you hadn't thought of looking at alternative 'sim-card' suppliers! I am constantly looking for alternative phone sim deals!

I've had the "Switch Control Box" for years. Originally it was only GSM/3G but they had an upgrade for 4G (LTE) a few years back. I've always used the T-Mobile SIM card. It's the pre-paid text only, it's $3/month plus $0.10 per command (outlet 1 on or off, for example.) I use it maybe 6 months a year here, pretty great! I don't know - I imagine your T-Mob card was so expensive was b/c it wasn't a prepaid, text only?

Can you show how you built it
@justsomedude2962Ай бұрын
I built the same thing using an Arduino and the Blynk app using the guest feature from the FBO Wi-Fi. But If I couldn't pick up a free Wi-Fi signal, it wouldn't work. Thanks for the vid.

Can you say what relay you used?
@CanardBoulevardАй бұрын
I can't...it was a 120VAC coil relay I had laying in a box of relays that I have here. Probably 20 amp or so?

- Cool. You started out to provide 1 good tip. And we ended up with several options to chose from 😀

you may want to unplug it and see if the default power on is to turn your heater on. if so, any power company glitch will result in your heater being on.

It defaults to its previous state. It was on when I pulled the power, which is why it came back on when I restored the power.
