miss lori, my hubby liked baked mac & cheese because of the the toasted topping, while I prefer the stove top as you do. i make your version, then i simply toast the buttered crumbs in a frypan and spoon them on. we are both pleased - and after 52 years together, the simple fixes are still the best!

I make mac and cheese with whatever odds and ends of cheese I have in the fridge! Cream cheese, cheddar, swiss, gouda, etc all together....it's so good!!

Thank you so much for this recipe! I used to always make mac n cheese on the stove top in my grandmothers pot. I got away from that when my daughter gave me a recipe made in the oven. She said that is how she loved it and how our grandchildren really like it. I thought well...OK...but all your growing up years you really enjoyed the stove top mac n cheese I made. You have really taken me back Miss Lori! For years I’ve been making mac n cheese now that I don’t like! I’m going back to my old ways! And I’ll remember my mother’s words when we were little when she was trying to feed 7 children as a single mom if we ever complained which was rare. She was a great cook. ‘You get what I give you!’ From now on...they get what I give ‘em! 😂. Your recipes are wonderful!!!! I am grateful!!! God Bless!!!😇

I love lookin at ur place w all the wood & stuff. Seeing all the jars of food takes me back 2 my childhood. My mom canned & come winter time opening up say some peaches & such. Brot summer bck 2 us. We were grateful 2 hav it. & a mama that had wrkd so hard 2 help keep us fed. We always had a garden 2.

You make it just like my mom did, except the sour cream. Always on top of the stove. An inexpensive meal for our family of 6. One of my other favorites was creamed chip beef on toast. Dried beef was inexpensive back in the 50's and 60's.

FINALLY! I was beginning to think I entered he twilight... I always add just a punch of dry mustard powder in stove-top Man n' Cheese too!! It's one of those things that adds such an incredible layer of flavor... but you do *NOT* taste the mustard at all. I'm so glad you wrote that C-Grams! 😆 oxoxo As far as cayenne, I usually add just a teensy pinch b'cas my hubby ALWAYS grabs the hot cayenne & sprinkles it on his own dish. ACK... Too much for me! 🥵🔥 (I always tell him.. "you can make it spicy as you want, but do it on your own plate and NOT in the main dish of food!! LOL..

My beloved son in law who passed memorial weekend was famous for his Mac and cheese “ Donny’s Mac and cheese”. He use velveta cream cheese milk and Worcestershire sauce but always stove top. It was good but I’d like yours better so I will start a new tradition.

I'm with you - I make it on the stove top. Looks delicious. I found and use a recipe that is all in one pot - you actually boil the pasta in the milk. But I'm going to try yours and compare. And coincidentally, I have some kielbasa in the freezer. I know what's for dinner later this week.

You can add a chunk of velveeta to your boxed and it will improve taste. Look for the the thick and creamy boxed. It has a more homemade taste.

I'm eager to try this! Thank you for sharing these recipes and your wisdom with all of us! I started canning recently and have learned a lot from you. One of the reasons I started was to become less dependent on my freezer since I live in Louisiana and we are hurricane prone :-( From watching your videos and following your recipes, I had canned chicken, pulled pork, and beans. I once made Mac and cheese for my grandson, thinking it would be a real treat, since he seldom got home made food. He was so enthusiastic while it was cooking, but when he tasted it, he said “Grandma, I don’t want to hurt your feelings, because I know you worked hard to make it, and it does taste kind of good, but Grandma, it’s just too creamy! 🤣🤣 it was delicious for us. I just made homemade macaroni and cheese today and then I see your video! I make a roux like you and on the stove top. I use whatever cheese I have in the refrigerator. Today was a mix of Colby, sharp cheddar, and Parmesan. I look forward to your videos. God Bless.
