I'm 63 years old. My dad cooked all the time. My favorite thing was to sit and watch him cook as he told me stories about his past and my grandparents. I loved the recipe, but the discourse between the two of you brought me to tears. I implore everyone who has the privilege to stand in the kitchen near their mom or dad, that you let their love and wisdon soak it into your soul and pass it down the line as far as you can. thank you for this video

Rule #1 I learned from Italians. Don't add oil to pasta water. It prevents sauces from absorbing completely into the pasta. 😉 I never added onions to my mac and cheese accept caramelized onions as a topping. But I'm a try it. That sounds good.

Yes that is a rule when make Pasta with sauce but when making Mac and cheese it’s necessary
@Hervinbalfour2 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferwiilis5267 please explain why it's necessary. You want the cheese sauce to soak into the macaroni so it's full of flavor.
@jenniferwiilis52672 жыл бұрын
@Hervin as an African-American and master mac & cheeser The oil helps to combine the seasoning in between each noodle and you don’t actually want the cheese and the sauce to stick to the noodles you like little air pockets which help the cheese get in between each noodle and it also helps not dry out your mac & cheese

You take your boiled pasta and layer it with shredded cheddar cheese. Thin layers. Then you pour whole milk over it until it’s just about to the top, then bake it. Then you put salt and pepper on top on your plate. It’s very different, but still good.

i grew up making mac n cheese with eggs, but then I started making it this way and I love a cheese sauce. I use a little less cheese sauce but I prefer this method now.
