My homemade power hammer, after 13 years of operation

For thirteen years of use, the hammer did not require repair and replacement of consumables. The power hammer was assembled by me in 2006 from improvised materials. The weight of the striker (falling part) is 12 kg. 220 beats per minute. Electric motor 1500 r / m. 1,5kv.

Смотрю, во время ковки клинков из дамаска острие сначала смотрит вниз, а потом ты молотком его наверх загибаешь. Это для того, чтобы рисунок шел параллельно режущей кромке, а не параллельно обуху? Я правильно понимаю?

I read the description. Rubber strips would be consumables, but things are easily lost in translation. I think belts rubber grease and dies would be maintenance

A spring hammer has its best performance when the spring is doing most of the work. When the ram is moving slowly the hammer should never come into contact with the anvil. The proper action is as follows: The ram, acting against the inertia of the upward traveling hammer and spring, starts to compress the spring as it is traveling downward. As the ram begins to decelerate towards the bottom of its stroke, this energy is released, throwing the hammer downward in the opposite direction faster than the motion of the ram, in effect multiplying the force. A good balance of operational speed and spring size is necessary to maximise this effect.

I would recommend some counterbalance and fill the pipes with concrete i love the strap tensioner system too seems to work nicely that jumping up and down die plate worrys me a littleyou cud probly cut an old belt and put a strip aroundit to wedge it still

I love the simplicity I dont understand the anvil loose. is that not a waste of energy from the blow. I am using a old oxygen bottle for the base of my anvil. it will be concreted 2ft deep on a pad poured just for it. The more solid the base and foundation the easier the metal will move. it seems your metal is bouncing as you work it. I really like your design except the anvil is not solid you can even see the whole unit bouncing.

This is a necessity in my case to reduce vibrations on the foundation (the anvil stands on rubber).

@@shurap oh i get not wanting to cut bust your floor. if you use it every week or day for 13 yrs maybe you should commit to cutting a 3x3 hole in floor and cement it in isolating from the rest of the slab. it would hit twice as efficient so much energy is lost buy putting rubber or wood under them. but i do like the hammer you did a very nice job it just needs something to hit against
