This is a good video. Provided that I pass my resit exams (going into second year maths + stats), I will be applying for an internship soon, very likely in banking. This video is helpful in showing me what it's like to be an intern and the application process but I have a few questions: 1. Did you get the graduate gig at the end of the internship? If yes, do you have any advice on how get a graduate gig (obviously being a case by case situation) and if not, hopefully you get successful in another application process 2. What is the social life like at an internship, as in do people go out quite often? Obviously the older folks who have kids don't really go out but I'm more talking about the newly or recently graduated people. 3. How much does your grades impact your application for either the internship or a graduate job? 4. How many places do you recommend people to apply to? I've heard from many people that you can apply to 40 places and only get 1 interview so I'd take it that you'd want to apply to nearly 70-80 to boost your chances of getting an interview but that also means a lot of time preparing for different exams 5. Why didn't you study finance or economics at university instead of engineering?

Hi Siyuan thank you for watching 😅 1. Yes I did get offered the grad role at the end, I’d say be enthusiastic in asking questions and deliver well on tasks set, 2. Social life is good, a lot of the interns went out more than once a week after work, 3. You need at least a 2:1 that was specified by the bank for us 4. I wouldn’t say theirs a magic number I got HSBC very early and only applied to 5 or 6 places but I know people that have applied to hundreds 5. STEM degrees are generally a more lucrative degree that is valued more than economics and finance. I had the ability to do engineering because of my maths and physics background

Hi...2 days ago (HSBC 2023 / 2024 - Your Application - You have been invited to our online Simulate assessment) for the Position of Digital Innovation Summer Internship 2023-2024 (Poland - Krakow). Could you please suggest some tips for this please. Deadline: The test is available for the next 5 days.

Hi there, I didn't do digital innovation as my internship so I don't know how much help I can really be but research HSBC's values and use it in some answers if they are written ones

Hey Deniz thank you for your video. I am just about to perform my JSA and am a bit stressed about it. Also I submitted a CV that is more than one page, do you think that’s bad ?
@denizsancar
@denizsancar 9 ай бұрын
Hi there, do not worry about the CV although 1 page is recommended, it’s happened now and if you perform well in other sections it will not hinder you. The JSA sounds daunting but it’s okay, make sure to research HSBCs values and weave them into questions and take your time 😅

Great video! Got a VED coming up next week for summer internship. What was it like for you they said there is some sort of scenarios and technical questions. Can you give some examples of what to expect?
@denizsancar
@denizsancar 9 ай бұрын
You’re welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed 😅 I can’t remember the exact questions that were asked, you don’t need to prepare before hand except looking at HSBC’s values and trying to weave them into your answers though is what I would suggest

Hiya I’m just about to do my JSA, for the recorded questions that you have to reply back to the client about the authorisation of the payment l, do you say how you would respond in first or third person or say it in like a email format ? Do you also have linked in ?
@denizsancar
@denizsancar 10 ай бұрын
Hi Alex, there were multiple parts to the JSA some would be in an email but if it’s a face recording of what you would do, I just explained what my steps would be in first person. I.e I would suggest to the client this… also yes I have LinkedIn all my socials can be found in the description of all my videos 😅

Did you got full time job offer after the completion of the Internship!? And also another question is does everyone who ever completed the internship can get the full time job offer just after completion of internship!?
@denizsancar
@denizsancar 9 ай бұрын
Hi there, yes I got the return offer for a graduate role and I got the offer 1-2 weeks after my internship finished, most interns can get a grad role, so don’t think you are competing with others for it, if you perform well, you will get a job offer 😅

@@denizsancar Thank you for replying. I have my VED tomorrow in WPB and I am nervous about the technical questions. Any tips for them pls? How would you answer what makes HSBC different from its competitors?
@denizsancar
@denizsancar 9 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t be too nervous for it, I remember it was very chill, research HSBCs values, in terms of difference HSBC has a large Asian presence and transition between working in different regions and with different regions allows you to broaden your network globally.
