I didn’t purchase TCB but I have implemented a lot of the tips she posts on her Instagram and they have been super helpful. although I do miss rocking my little baby to sleep it’s amazing seeing him become more independent and able to fall asleep on his own 🥺 Can’t wait to see more progress from Rocky, you guys are doing amazing!

As a nanny when I helped my current family with sleep training, I found the gentle (Ferber method) was a little harder for the little guy because he was expecting to be picked up each time we went in and the crying would just intensify so we eventually just let him be and the first day it took an hour and then he’d wake after 20-30 mins cry for about 10 more minutes then sleep a couple hours... Second day took about 45 mins to fall asleep. After about 4 days he was falling asleep within 20 mins

The Ferber method is anything but gentle. Cry it out is always cruel, no matter how it's done. Take it frome someone studying infant sleep and brain development. I find it baffling that there are still people willing to subject their own babies to this kind of torture, because that's what it is

@@RachelMassoud because I study infant sleep and early brain developement, so my algorithm shows me a lot of this stuff, and I feel it is important to dispell myths and create awareness. A lot of parents have completely unrealistic expectations when it comes to their infant's sleep. Sleeping through the night has become the desired thing (which is understandable when their is little to no parental leave and ppl need to function) but it is often not what is normal or realistic for an infant.

@@evelynl.5628is there any studies you can link down below, im gonna start sleep training after all the infant sleep studies I have read, and basically the gist is that sleep deprivation is a form of torture to any human let alone a growing baby, and that was one of the reasons that convinced me, cause my baby was not sleeping almost at all, but if your studying it, please link something, I’ve been looking and every expert recommends sleeping training,

I cannot thank you enough for an honest video on your experiences so far. Cheering you on every step of the way and so proud of little Rocky boy that he's learning so quickly. You'll be on the other side so soon I'm sure of it! I still go back and forth on sleep training my little girl as she does sleep mostly through the night in her bassinet next to our bed with only a couple of binky replacements - no feedings. But she's getting to that point where she'll probably sleep better in her own room and I know there will be moments she needs me still, I'm just not ready to interrupt my 7-8 hours of sleep I'm currently getting to change up the situation. Ahhh this mom life is TOUGH and also amazing at the same time. Hang in there and cannot WAIT for an update to see how Rocky does!

I’m doing a modified Ferber method. My daughter is 4 months old she stopped taking a binky at 2.5 months. I went cold Turkey with the swaddle day 2.I started off with just naps unswaddled Day 1 and swaddled that night. For the first nap she cried for an hour I checked on her every 5 minutes for a half hour then 10 minutes for the other half hour. She slept for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Nap to she cried for 10 minutes slept an hour 15 minutes, bell 3 cried for about 7 minutes slept for an hour. At night she went to bed at 10:30p was up at midnight feed her back to sleep she woke up every 2 hours. Day 2 no swaddling at all. First nap cried less than 10 minutes didn’t check on her slept for hour, second nape cried leas than 5 minutes slept 1.5 hours, third nap was a cat nap only 30 minutes. Went to bed at 9pm no crying slept til 4am fed her back to sleep by 4:45am woke up at 5am up from 5-6a cried on and off only checked on her twice slept from 6am to 9am. She’s getting better hopefully I can have her fully “trained” in 2 weeks

I hope it gets better soon. we ST my son at 4.5mths and it was really easy, he had alot of things changed . it took 3 nights, first night was only 3-5min checkins for 15mins, then 2nd night was 8mins and 3rd night was like 2mins? he woke up a few times a night but would put himself back to sleep. we still fed him 3x a night and then he eventually weaned from them himself by 5mths. I think the biggest tip was to just remove everything, including pacis (my son ended up rolling over and sleeping on his belly and sucked his thumb) because even IF he knew to replace his own paci, it would keep him up, unless you sleep train much later around 6+mths.

I did cry it out for my baby at 3 months and it hurt me so much to see my daughter cry like that. By day 3 I gave up and started picking her up after crying for 10min to soothe her a bit and continued with that routine till it finally became less and less crying. She goes to bed on her own now no swaddling or rocking (she is a day older than your son). I strongly believe it's best to tweak the way you feel comfortable cause it definitely works. You're doing awesome!!!

I want to discuss sleep and general “transitioning” for my second baby coming in the fall. With my 1st, I coslept and breastfed for 2 years. I liked having her near me because I wanted to encourage that instinct and bonding especially after she was literally part of my body for 9 months... However, I struggled with knowing when to “transition” to the next phase and I found each transition was SO agonizing for all of us. Examples: > when to transition from being with mom (co-sleeping or bassinet for example), to say a CRIB + if baby is right next to mom in whatever capacity and they dry or wake are you grab right away or put arm on them right away doesn’t this make them dependent on you for that instant response (not saying it’s bad) just posing question of - does it make that later transition of them self soothing etc more difficult when you suddenly aren’t responding and what does this all look like. I mean at 3am I wasn’t into letting my 1st scream and scream when she woke so that my hard working husband would then also wake up. > when and HOW to cut off night BREASTMILK so that it’s easier and HOW/ what to do to get them to sleep and no longer be dependent on those night feedings? I felt like there was yelling and arguing because my 1st was a toddler when I finally took the milk away at night(2yrs). I couldn’t handle not getting any sleep after 2 years of giving my first my all. 🥹 Things I have been told so far: > I have learned/heard that not letting a baby fall asleep ON you if you’re breastfeeding so they don’t associate “I only sleep if I am on mommy” is a good place to start > putting them in a crib when they are tired but not yet asleep so they “fall” asleep in their physical space (crib) > that using crib for naps right away when they are a newborn will more easily develop the habit as opposed to car sleeping more than a crib or a side sleeper more than a crib.. > keeping a lot of noise so they can sleep deep in noise as opposed to being a 👻 when they are asleep. My first is such a light sleeper and we never made a peep! Sorry this is long winded. I don’t even know what my exact questions are. I just need a better flow and plan to be confident in this second time around that May have worked for several others. So please help! I am more open minded than I used to be! Any little nuance you can share I’d love to hear!!

Hi Kilean, hoping to get your feedback on your nap training. I am doing the ABC Taking Cara Babies training as well. My baby is on Night 5 tonight and he is able to self-soothe last night. His nap is still horrible. I have to rock him to sleep but he would only nap for 30 mins after. If i want him to sleep longer, i will have to hold him on my arms the whole time. Question is, when you are doing the night sleep train, do you try to do nap sleep train too?

I’d never did the leave my baby to scream method it’s mental disturbing for them they cry when they need us it’s there way of communicating by leaving them to cry and ignore them is just teaching them that there mummy isn’t going to be there when they need us :( I done the CHAIR METHOD and it’s a lot nicer and worked a treat for my son! We did wait until 6m also as in U.K. where I’m from 6m is the earliest NHD recommended babies fo in there own room. It’s a more gentle approach and less stressful for both the baby and mother

My babe is just about a month younger than Rocky and he started doing the “refuse to eat” thing at night for a while there too! It really helped us to just keep trying, stay calm and minimize all distractions. Sometimes putting the binky in his mouth first to calm him down and then switching him to the breast helped. I know how frustrating and heartbreaking it can be to feel rejected by your baby and to worry about how much they’re getting to eat and if they’ll sleep well- but hang in there! Everything is a phase and this too shall pass. You’re doing great :)

I was getting stressed trying to put him on my boob and so was he my friend who had seen a consultant said to just lay there skin to skin and put no pressure on breastfeeding just lay there cuddle talk maybe read and then eventually he made his way down to my boob and ate.

She gave me a big fat NOPE to both 😂 also, I private messaged you on Insta if you have a chance 🤍

TCB has an ebook for the 3-4 months phase to help with sleep regression and just gently teaching them to self soothe and fall asleep on their own! I find the PDF really well done and easy to go back to whenever we need some help. It’s working really well for our daughter (15 weeks) and she has been sleeping in her own room for a couple of days now. I’m hoping with this gradual approach we won’t have to properly sleep train, but if so I feel we’ll have a strong foundation 🤞

We are about to start the ABC’s and it’s nice to get a true break down of your experience. My daughter is the exact same with her binky and I’m worried how she will reach, so I have started using it less during day naps. I know that a bit different to the course, but she is a week off 5months and thought why not. The course is amazing and Instagram doesn’t do it justice, I can’t wait to sleep again. Binky defence at night isn’t fun. Your both doing an amazing job, thanks for being so real.!!!

I wouldn’t swaddle a baby that’s sleep training. If they aren’t rolling back and forth put a weighted sack on as it helps when their hands are free

no judgment, but please google why cio is bad. if your baby boy cries and screams it means something - he is scared and stressed af and by no means capable to self soothe

@@KileanRodriguez As a psychologist I have to say that Freakykatschi is right... sorry to tell you but with sleep training the baby does not sooth himself. It just looks like it but If you look at his stress hormones they don't go down. This is backed down by evidence based research

I’m confused because you say you do a gentle cry it out method but it seems like all he does is cry? So what is the actual cry it out method? Or is that what it’s called? Lol

Please research Brain development about letting your baby cry. Your ruining his chances of healthy attachment 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 dont believe the lies that you should be there for your baby! Listen to yourself “he screamed” “he was shaking” You destroyed his trust with you 😭😭😭😭😭 Listen to your heart!! Your story makes me sob 😭

It's absolutely barbaric. The poor babies stop crying because they learn no-one will come, no other reason, their spirits broken and tummies growling. I thought a lesson was learned from the Romanian orphans who were ignored, and could not bond with adoptive parents, and fear that this trend will create a maladjusted generation.

This is as close as it gets to child abuse, and tons of charlatans like taking Cara babies making money out of letting babies cry in their crib, learning only that they will not be attended by the very same persons who is supposed to loved them. Disgusting.

It’s not traumatizing at all stop it. Babies cry that’s normal and they don’t know how to put themselves to sleep you have to teach them

Yeah well when your baby is waking up every 45min-2 hours every.. SINGLE…NIGHT and won’t go to sleep without boob then you need to very strong and strict to break some habits. Mom needs to be rested too to take care of baby

@@andreac.1999 they just don’t understand and people who say things like this are so ignorant. The health of well being of the mother is always ignored as if the mother isn’t the reason why the baby is even living.
