Check out my Hong Kong apartment tour 2022. Hong Kong apartment rent is the most expensive in the world and my 350sqft / 32sqm apartment on Hong Kong island costs 13,000HKD per month rent, which is £1,250. Hope you enjoy the tour.

This is a real "steal" especially on Hong Kong Island in a non-walkup building, with a separate shower partition! Congratulations! Even being a local here, I have never heard of a similar apartment with such price!

Thanks! I think it was just good timing on my part. I’ve been loving the extra space I have though after living in studio flats for two years before finding this place 🙂

Your kitchen is pretty spacious for Hong Kong! I just moved into a place with a kitchen (previously in subdivided flats) and it definitely makes a big difference! Nice place overall :)

I absolutely love the fact I finally have a kitchen! Before this I was living in studio apartments, so the extra space now makes a massive difference.

A pair of tights would be the best way to clean under your basin. Seesaw them around the base and they give a good shine to the taps and basin too.

Frankly, this is very “cheap” in rent in HK, I thought it would cost HKD16K at least in 2019.

Your place is very nice. I can easily get comfortable there. My first place in HK was an illegal rooftop flat in TST, 400 sq ft with three bedrooms one toilet and a tiny kitchen. There were 13 tenants jammed in that tiny flat. I didn't mind it as I was young and didn't know any better. I almost rented at Chung King Mansions but the crazy number of electrical wires that snaked along the hallway scared me as it looked like a fire trap.

It is illegal to live that many people... even in HK. You should've shopped those people in !!! And this is WHY... HK has caused a global financial situation. Thanks to people like yourselves... Cos they indirectly inflated the prices of the HK dollars as well..... AND debts !!!!
@robocop581 Жыл бұрын
@@MeiinUK Yawn. I lived in that illegal flat because I was poor. But I worked my way up and now I'm financially secure with several rental properties. Don't knock it as that cramped place made me what I am today.

I mean If you want bigger spaces you should consider village houses in Hong Kong if you don’t mind living out there . I rented a place with 3 floors , two balconies, rooftop for 1400 for over 1000 square foot .
@MyBrokenPassport11 ай бұрын
Very good point. One of my friends does exactly this. I've been enjoying living in the city, but as you say for those who prioritise space a village house is the way to go! More space but less convenient.

Thanks so much for dropping by! Yes, I think I got a good deal. Rents had dropped by 20% in this neighbourhood when I was looking - the tenant before me was paying 16,500hkd / $2,100USD. It had been nicely renovated two years before I got it 🙂

Thank you for sharing with us your apartment. It's a bit small, yet you got a nice kitchen, a big bed and a washing machine !! The cost is also reasonable. It's the Government's fault for failing to provide appropriate housing to the citizens and people who come to work here.

@@ginger1920 London has the most expensive rent in the UK (super-high), while Manchester is in the top 10 cities for cost of rent. There are lots of towns with much much cheaper rent. You can get a three bedroom house for £700 per month in places.

@@ginger1920 Cheapest rent is in cities and towns in North-East England. Places around Sunderland, Durham, Middlesbrough, Tyneside etc. This area isn't as affluent as other parts of the UK and the weather is generally a good bit colder and wet compared to the south of England. Property and rent prices are much more affordable though.

opening the windows does not help with the heat?
@MyBrokenPassport Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. With hot and humid weather, and buildings being surrounded by other buildings (cutting off any air flow / wind), opening the windows can result in your flat getting hotter instead of cooler.

Hey, I visited HK when I was travelling in 2014 and loved the unique energy of the city. Decided to move here four years later to experience things on a daily basis. But yes, there are many pros and cons, and housing (high rent / lower quality) is one of the biggest downsides of living in Hong Kong. Still lots of reasons for people to move here though (and reasons why others want to leave)🙂
