If Buffalo and Ottawa don't upgrade their goaltending and bring in the right veterans (not just stop gap players who have played a lot of games) they're probably in the same place again next season. The desperate need to upgrade goaltending is a common NHL problem, partly due to Hockey Canada spending too much money covering up scandals and not enough supporting the development of the next generation of goalies. The Oilers and Maple Leafs are like funhouse mirror images of each other, in terms of weaknesses on the blueline, goaltending, and depth, but one team's top players seem to do a lot better in the playoffs.

I suspect the issue of varying state income tax rates is often exaggerated. For example, the rate in Massachusetts is only 5%. The accountants and financial advisers available to multimillionaires should be able to overcome this small difference if a player chooses Boston over Dallas or a Florida team. (Keep in mind that states with low state taxes tend to have high local property taxes, which shouldn't be surprising.) On the other hand, the taxes in the 3 highest states--California (14.63%), New Jersey (11.8%), New York (11.7%)--might dissuade some players from signing there.
@xlr0gd2057 ай бұрын
Why is it so high in Jersey?
@JPMadden7 ай бұрын
@@xlr0gd205 Urban states need more tax revenue to pay for expensive infrastructure (New Jersey is the most densely populated state). Large, rural states might have low state taxes because the few roads are maintained by county taxes. I live in Rhode Island, the second-most densely populated state. Our state tax rate (5.99%) is not as high as I thought, because every so often, one of those lists of states with the highest tax or debt burdens is published. They always list Rhode Island as among the worst, but we're so small we have no county government (beside courthouses) and therefore no county taxes or debt. As a Minnesota fan I think one of our biggest issues this season was defense. Spurgeon was injured for nearly the entire season and Brodin missed a good chunk of games as well and it really hurt the team. And while Brock Faber emerged as a stud defenseman, he can't carry the load by himself every single game. A healthy Spurgeon and Brodin will likely help the team win more games next season. Also, I think Guerin should think about trading Filip Gustavsson because if Wallstedt is going to be the future starting goalie than he really should be playing more games with the big club next season. Guerin just re-signed Fleury to a 1 year contract so to me it only makes sense to trade Gustavsson and go with Fleury and Wallstedt as the goalie tandem. As far as coaching goes, I'm not to crazy about Hynes given he doesn't have a very good track record of making the playoffs. I'd rather have Gerard Gallant or Todd McLellan as coach.

The Ducks and Kings are going to have new uniforms next season. The Kings are going retro as well as the Ducks but Anaheim is doing a modernized Mighty Duck logo

As a jets fan, I felt Hely didn’t LOOK good on numerous occasions against Avs where he got caught wildly out of position. Now it could be that the Avs being so incredibly fast somewhat shredded the Jets defence and Hely was attempting to compensate. All I know is that in those instances he didn’t LOOK like a proficient goalie because as the puck was about to enter the net, he, uncharacteristically, had zero chance to prevent that. I agree Jets are a really good regular season team that needs to learn to get good in the playoffs.

If everything works well with the rebuild. St. Louis has some amazing talent coming up in the next 2 years.

Leafs' problem is Shanahan.

I think the biggest problem is MLSE, why is it that Shanahan is still there despite all the first round exits. Also I find the term core 4 dumb: 4 forwards don’t make up a team, it’s a team game.

Jets fan here. you're right, hellebuyck was shit in the playoffs. In the regular season if Hellebuyck was off, Brossoit would get a game, and it'd motivate hellebuyck to play well the next game. coach decided to double- and triple-down on hellebuyck despite actually BAD play at times. when we needed saves, particular 3rd period saves, he didn't give us that. and the coach didn't give us Brossoit. He also didn't give us our #6 scorer (cole perfetti) til game 5. Coaching in the playoffs is all about how you react and adjust to an opponent that is reacting and adjusting to you. colorado adjusted their play to us, and the jets did not adjust at all. saying things like "we just gotta focus on our game". Now we're sitting here wondering if we're gonna get the exact same thing coaching-wise from Arniel that we got from Bowness.

Agree about Hellebuyck. I've always thought that he performed horribly every play-offs since 2019. Always seemed like he was trying to do everything and it cost him and the Jets some very bad goals. I also thought they'd never win a cup with him because of that mentality. It was very refreshing to hear him basically own up to that behaviour this past locker cleanout day, and acknowledge that he needs to change that behaviour and trust his teammates. During the playoffs or big regular season games I winced every time I saw him leave the net to play the puck -- that always lead to some very bad goals.

Who cares. They got run over. Beat. Jets need to due what Dallas and NYR do and give the goalie a chance to be a star. Can the jets play to their strength. Need to strengthen the right side D.

I think the Utah AHL affiliate should be in either Provo Utah or Cheyenne Wyoming. Both relatively close to Salt Lake. Somewhere in Idaho or Montana would work too
@Adamdidit6 ай бұрын
Provo would be perfect for them. An in-area ahl teams easy replacement players during emergencies.

Bruins have the highest regular season point % since 2018 and have only been to the 3rd round of the playoffs once. That’s why Boston fans don’t like Don Sweeney and feel that it’s time for a change.

I understand Dougie Hamilton will be back for NJ but I cannot understand why everyone thinks that’s an improvement. The issue with NJ is coverage in their own end and playing hard on the puck. Hamilton lacks mightily in these aspects. So NJ could get some offense. That doesn’t fix what ails them.

You should be on the NHL Network. I don't always agree or like what you say 🙂, but damn do you know hockey- at least as well, if not better than the so-called experts and pundits on TV. Bravo, sir. Merci beaucoup de partager vos vastes connaissances d'hockey !

Lots of irate Bruins fans calling for the heads of Neely, Sweeney and Montgomery. Apparently they all forgot who owns the team. The Jacobs family runs the team fairly pragmatically without over reacting to the teams struggles. Given the year they had, firings were never on the table. Boston fans in general are championship or bust but the Jacobs family does not look at it the same way.

Hey! No clue if you read those, but have been watching the channel for a while! If (and it's a big if) Martin St-Louis doesn't prove to be the guy yo lead montreal to a cup, do you think Tortorella has what it takes to make it in Montreal? One of the toughest coaches in the league, and yet I think that city is stronger than him... Would be great to have your in-depth analysis of the Montreal rebuild, as well as others

The reason us Oilers fans don’t like Ken Holland is he’s been given more than enough to have at least a pair of cups by now, but he throws it all away constantly. He also can’t draft at all.

Devils offseason needs two G’s- goalie, and grit. Go for whatever Bruins goalie they don’t go with, and get one- maybe two- grit players *with skill.* So not another MacDermid. Lots of doubt towards Fitzgerald in the comments here and other videos but I don’t agree with the negativity. When the worst case scenario last year was still 20 points higher than a similar scenario two seasons before that, you are on the right track.
