The way he explains his reasoning while still being entertaining is great! I didn’t like Mimi’s cover of it either (it was the only song on Butterfly I didn’t like at all) but I could definitely see why someone would. I’m as huge a fan of Prince as I am of Mariah anyway, and I LOVE the original track. Anyway I’m going on a tangent lol.

Mariah's voice was on FIRE during Charmbracelet Tour (2003 through early 2004) and in 2004, when she recorded the "Mimi" album. Until the first months of promoting it still was (you should check We Belong Together and Vision of Love @ BET Blueprint), but when the tour started, in mid-2006, her voice unfortunally was very tired. Btw it would be nice if you reacted to one or some performances of Vision of Love. The songs was her debut single, as you may know, and it's turning 30 this week, on May 15th. Mariah's carreer is turning 30 years old. Wow. Great performances throughout the years: Saturday Night Live - 1990 Good Morning America (Acoustic) - 1990 Madison Square Gargen - 1995 Charmbracelet Tour @ Zurich - 2003 BET Blueprint - 2005 and, if you want a more "recent" one... #1 to Infinity - June 17th, 2016

Fun fact, there's a story behind the climax for WBT. Learned this quite recently, but Mariah said in an interview that she was supposed to but some ad-libs and runs on that climax, but L.A Reid and some music exec were coming over and wanna hear that song. She said she didn't have time, so she just did what came to mind and belted her way through and ended on that epic C5 note. Who knew that ICONIC climax was a spontaneous creative decision!
