Excellent review! You always do such an amazing job. Don't worry about when us lambs "get on ya" from time to time. You could never ALWAYS please us all, lol. Keep giving your honest opinions. I think most of us listen to music the same way you do (feeling, beats/production, musicality, vocals, THEN lyrics). They can't expect you to get ALL that on your very first listen when most of us lambs have listened to the "butterfly" album a million times already. Not fair, lol. I think they got a lil ahead of themselves in wanting you to like certain songs more cause it was arguably her best all-around lyrical album. That's all. Right because on MIAMTEC her vocals were astonishing and in 2013 she sounded good but by 2014 she was generally tired and couldn't display her massive range she used on the album. She sounds so healthy in recent live performances 👍

Caution is about bryan she's telling him she's so in love with him but inside she is scared that she might get hurt again. She is telling him please feel the same way as I do for you. Mariah so so happy and in love and she got like 6 songs out of 10 for her man and how much she loves him. And I also notibed she didnt have any Tommy related songs on this album like She did her other previous albums. She has finally let go of all that anger and emotional and resentment towards Tommy and moving on. So happy for her. She is in such a good place personally and professionally. And she even said portrait is about healing. She is letting go of her past and focusing on now and her future. So happy for her

mimi mure is portrait really a healing song? The lyrics to me sound more like she’s still dealing with side effects of the past by bottling up and hiding. the only thing she’s doing differently this time is not letting the tears build. I’ve been rolling that song around in my mind trying to make sense of it since so many of her songs tell continuing stories from previous years like long ago from daydream to me is a continuation of emotions from Emotions. And fantasy interlude feels like a statement recounting the past including the album itself like up until now it’s all been a daydream a fantasy filled with emotions with her living it but also looking in from the other side...in this case the her she’s hiding in portrait... A thought, maybe? Probably not.

@@1Akarikotsu She even said on good morning America the song is about healing yourself and you are in that process of letting go. She is finally letting go as she keeps saying in the song cuz she is saying there is a tomorrow for her. You need to really listen to the lyrics to understand on what she means like very carefully. And the fact that she brought up Tommy name months ago instead of people bringing up his name is healing process for her and she has no Tommy songs on her album. Mariah is finally happy and letting go of her past and moving on. She has an amazing man who loves and supports her and has been with her for 3 years and she has her kids and has gotten rid of Stella that snake. So yes like she said she is in the healing process. So happy for her.

Lyrics are important but it takes the right melody and production to convey the meaning of the lyrics the way they are intended to be interpreted. Idk if you haven’t heard the Memoirs album it is full of gems and is the second most underrated album next to Glitter. Memoirs is a haunting piece of raw art that is a story of missed opportunities, regrets and ‘told you so’s’ from some of her her most personal experiences throughout her career.

Hiiii it’s Erin from China haha. I’ve been watching your videos for a while and really enjoy your reviews, because just like you do I listen production and vocal first, then the lyrics. Most of the time I don’t even care about the lyrics, just purely enjoy her( Mariah) voice. Of course Mariah is a talented songwriter and she writes amazingly touching lyrics, but for me just listening to her singing techniques all of that is worthy a few times of looping. Her voices just contains too much for us to find out, I think. Well that’s all of my personal opinions. Very nice BUT you often edit out some of the best parts...in Giving me life you edited out when she goes ‘...just a little sensitivity of the soul...’!!! C’mon! And 8th grade?? It is THE hidden gem on the album, it’s a major grower, one of the best songs!! That last part with the whistles and killer counter melody! Stay long love you is getting positive reviews on so many reaction video but it is the filler track of the album if there had to be one. I agree Caution needs to be the next single. Love this album. Nice review. However, i think it takes someone, who understands Mariah to Appreciate "8th grade." And I am referring to the ending of the song and how she used the whistle register for the meadly, C'mon part. To me I think it is a shout to her fans who appreciates that she can enunciate in that vocal tone. Take "Someday" "All in your mind." And Bliss it takes a true vocalist to keep that can of control.

Like you I will always be drawn in by the production, vibe & relate to a song initially through the vocals/harmonies. From all your reaction prefer you to be you, don't over think the lyrics if it's not what you do naturally. In your previous video, you probably didn't notice mine in between all, but mentioned outside as it's lyrics are quite noticeable in their theme.
