the mv was great, concept unique, members did a wonderful job, but the music seemed a bit average- please don’t hate on me, just my opinion- all of bts’ songs have been total *bops* for me, so it’s not like they haven’t had like a million absolutely amazing songs, *it’s just that butter didn’t hit my soul the way bts’ other songs do* p.s: as a blink, I think the songs of bts are as amazing as blackpink’s songs, and that’s saying a lot- considering the fact that I’m a really huge fan of blackpink; all love 🖤💖

hm, well the members ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT, Jin finally got the lines he deserves. The m/v was nice, but as for music wise like, it’s a nice song. But imo it just didn’t hit as much as their other songs.

This is 10 times better than dynamite to me. I liked dynamite but butter left me feeling genuinely happy after listening to it and seeing how much fun they had in the mv. And the rappers actually got to rap this time which is a bonus.

It's not a bad song but I honestly didn't like it. The music BTS makes now is not my kind of music anymore, but that doesn't make it bad. The genre itself keeps changing and I'm happy they keep growing and do music they like. I was just more of a fan a few years ago, between the HYYH era and BST. I don't see many people sharing this opinion, but that's fine. In the end, as long as the boys are happy and reaching out with their music, I will be happy for them.

omg i agree ! like it sounds like any other pop song but that doesnt make it bad, its just a bit bland for me .i kinda stopped to listen to bts songs after map of the soul : 7 bc nowadays its music mostly for the general public (and idk pretty americanized but maybe its just me ?) so i tend to listen to either their older music or other groups :/ but im happy that they keep getting bigger and recognized for their work

Honestly for someone who has been listening to dynamite since its release upto now every single day this is definitely an upgrade from dynamite, the vocals, the pronunciation everything is just really well put. I agree the mv felt a little over but nothing too much, everything was just perfect, definitely didn’t expect butter to turn out like this but it i can proudly say that this is goin in my all time fav playlist, i loved it so much tho dynamite has its own place but i think i’d be preferring Butter over the record breaking queen soon. Also waiting for the BBMAs performance so we can finally see the choreo i just know its gonna be so fun and interesting ....this cb was everything Armys needed in 2021 really cant wait for the new songs and new album!!!!!!

It's obviously a single made for the general public, but still very much made for army, very much bts and personal, it does what it has to do, it's very fun and very catchy, and I am having so much fun with this comeback and enjoying the song 😁💜. Each release has a different purpose, and you should have different expectations according to the context and purpose, the great thing of being an army is that bts releases so much content and creates so much amazing music that you get to enjoy all contexts and songs. 😊

I absolutely loved everything about the song. It hit for me immediately, its like they put crack in this song. I can already see it winning tons of awards and people making think pieces about why it shouldn't have won and saying "it was good at first but now its overrated" and blah blah blah. I can see that happening and that just confirms to me even more that butter is an absolute hit and will be bts 4th bb hot 100 #1!! looks like im in the minority, but i liked dynamite more, wholely. It had a simple beat, the song structure was great, it was very new for bts, and it was the joy you needed when the pandemic was really hitting. Butter does better in almost all the departments- a more fun beat, smoother hook, better pronunciation especially rm and suga's verses (basic but they sounded like the average American rapper), and the concept is just really cool- they literally feeling themselves so hard and i love it. Where it falls short for me, is that as a complete song it feels a bit disconnected at times and it throws me off. Dynamite's structure was song, and it never lets you let go till the end of the song. So yeah, that's how i feel.

I'm much more into their banger songs like On, Fire, Not Today, etc.. so it takes me a 2nd or 3rd listen to really feel the 80's vibe. It was like this with Dynamite as well. After a few listens, however, it becomes incredibly addictive and you can't help but bop your head. The solo elevator scenes are my favorite.

Bts is struggling to find a sound that can crack the American market. Also, its obvious this was made to be nominated for a Grammy. IMO, the song is not good enough to win a Grammy and they need to produce music that has their own style instead of copy paste western pop. I'll be completely honest, I'm not the biggest fan of butter. I don't hate it but I don't love it either. It just wasn't my taste because I don't listen to many mainstream pop songs. Considering how much I loved dynamite, I set up very high expectations for butter as well because it had similar vibes to dynamite judging from the teaser photos but unfortunately the song didn't match up my expectations. It felt like it was lacking something. I really liked the pre-chorus and rapline parts though, but other than that, the song felt quite empty and basic. I've been an army for 2 years now and it's probably the first time where BTS have released something and I didn't like it. Maybe it'll grow on me after a few listens but as for now, I don't really vibe with it as much. Yes, it's a good song overall and I know a lot of ARMYs really loved it but it didn't sPaRk tHe jOy in me when I listen to it unlike most BTS songs. So if I had to rate it, I'd give it a 6/10 :)

I also think it was remenicent to dynamite but one thing I did notice was that the lyrics in butter were way better than the lyrics from dynamite (maybe it's cuz namjoon partiticipated in the production, idk) also I felt like dynamite didn't really have that bts vibe to it, but butter did. (again, probs cuz namjoon participated in the production) I really like the mv, it kinda gave me nct regular vibes mixed with dynamite vibes, Jin and Taehyung definetly owned this mv though, just saying. In *my* opinion, the chorus was a bit mediocre but hella catchy. It seems like the type you'll hear from Western artists. The visuals were amazing and I think that they're pronunciation has improved. i’m gonna be honest, i really didn’t like this song. it’s personally not in my genre, and with all the queen theories i had (the beat, queen posting it on twitter, etc.) i really was expecting an upbeat rock song, such as queen songs like another one bites the dust. instead i got a more dynamite sounding song and i was rather disappointed :/. it’s not a bad song!! their english has improved so much and the beat is funky! i just wish that rap line got more verses especially hoseok. but i was really missing the rock feel to the song, so my hopes were a little shattered after hearing it.

In my own perspective, the first time I listened to Butter..I didn't necessarily feel myself being pulled into the single if that makes sense. I tried listening to it a few more times and see if my opinions will change but still remained the same. I felt like something was missing despite the amazing but simplistic choreography, hair, rapline, film production, outfit, lyrics, etc. Now, this doesn't mean I really hate this song and will never listen to it again, I just dislike it a little bit. Like some ARMYs have said on here, it didn't hit as much as their other songs or first English single, "Dynamite". Likewise, I do like the fact that BTS is trying something new or unique with the context or concept of the song, and the lyrics distribution to all members is something I appreciate. This song gives a hint of the summer vibes as RM has said, which is cool. I can listen to this fun track when I doing my work, enjoying my coffee, studying, etc, that is the good part as well. I don't expect any KPOP group, in general, to make a song with a special message or anything like that all the time. I am still continuing to be an ARMY and showing major support, respect, and love for BTS though 💜 (But, this is just my opinion right now..maybe once I listen to it a few more times..my opinion will change :) This is a good comeback for 2021 overall. Coming back to say: I love this song😂💜!!!! Told you guys!

Butter was honestly just another dynamite, Butter is a Grammy retry. It’s not a bad song at all and it’s pretty catchy, but it’s obvious they’re still looking to get that Grammy. This song was the best, it’s like they put crack in it, short and impactful, jampacked and has a very nice buildup, bts has become seasoned professionals at what they do and this song really exceeded my expectations, they’re different and I love how they keep pushing boundaries and pulling off all the genres, when I heard people calling it a dynamite part 2 I was worried initially, because dynamite was a little bit all over the place, but upon hearing it it sounds nothing like dynamite, this song is such an improvement, you can feel their growth, you can even hear how their vocals had improved and they’re vocal range has expanded, keep up the good work Bts. I’ve been listening to it ever since, and with each listen it just keeps getting better and better, I especially loved Jhopes part.

this is one of the best songs I've heard in 2021 so far and no i will not change my own subjective opinion. it's far more than a generic bubblegum pop song if you actually pay attention to it well and even if it was, what's wrong with it? literally 98% of the other kpop groups or any other western artists do it.

I personally didn't like Dynamite, although it was a good song but it didn't leave a lasting impression compared to their previous songs, and tbh Butter definitely exceeded my expectations, it's a fun and poppy music with hints of retro and disco, it's fresh and not overly done. I liked the fact that it didn't have to be meaningful to be a great song, it's simple yet something that you can listen to after a hectic day to freshen up, it definitely released at a good timing considering the fact that we're in the middle of the pandemic and we need something fun yet relaxing to listen to, it's not a song made to analyze lyrics and concept but a song to just vibe and bop with instead which is definitely a good direction.

Personally I really liked it upon first listen, the lyrics are catchy while not amazing. If we’re going to compare it to Dynamite, I think Dynamite overall is better in my opinion, but Butter has some elements which are far better than their counterparts in Dynamite. I’m still missing a comeback from them that really hits hard, if you know what I mean. Ever since Idol, their title tracks had been kind of fun and laid back. After Butter was released, I think what I’ve been missing the most from them is something on a much more grand scale.

Notice how BTS used to have 2 target of cb, Japan and Korea. After MOTS7, they start to create new target which is US. So basically, if my speculation is right, each year, they'll have 1 korean song cb, 1 Japanese cb and 1 english cb. And each cb have different patterns too. Like, how korean cb is like normal cb where they release with an album with new songs, japanese cb where they release an album with japanese track(but not new songs) and with eng cb, they just release a single.

Y'all Still confused about the concept! Gosh! The concept photo show crime scenes with an aspect of love in it. The concept shows BTS as criminals who are stealing and breaking hearts. The first line itself says " Smooth like butter ; like criminal undercover" means they're smooth in stealing hearts just like criminals :) . There's more sensuality in the lyrics and they nailed it . Idk how people aren't understanding the lyrics. This era was the easiest for me to understand

so its my story guys.. in the past 2 years Im an armyblink... I like both so much.. I like fake love, DNA, not today, boy with luv, etc bts old songs always my on fav list... but when dynamite release I really like it I also stream it...but not my type of song tho. :D but I already know that they dont gonna win grammys with that song.. but I hope they will in next time.. and then bighit release butter... I totally disappointed from that song... cuz my reaction was "WHAT AGAIN ENGLISH SONG.. AND SIMILAR TO LIKE DYNAMITE" cuz I think they gonna release in Korean language... and its not my type of songs that I like.... and then after 2 months...
