in my opinion, ptd's not my kind of vibe. the song's very similar to dynamite and butter and i honestly don't really like super happy and fun songs that much. but, i still appreciate the songs they put out nevertheless because i am a supportive fan. the thing is, ptd's autotune ain't it. it was painfully obnoxious and i believe the overuse of it was not needed at all. bts are INSANELY talented singers. the excessive use of autotune overshadows their natural voices so much to the point where it ruins the whole song. i have no problem with autotune overall, but when it ruins the quality of a song, it bothers me so much. i hope bighit could quit playing around with bts' pure talent by doing sh*t like this.

It makes me sad how some ARMYs are defending the song saying, "get over it, it's just a filler song". And that's how you know the quality is declining, because I never imagined a BTS song being called a "filler" track. Back then, even just the comeback trailers they were putting out were topnotch bangers (Never Mind, Boy Meets Evil, Singularity, Serendipity, etc) as well as their b-sides. It used to be that every BTS concept was intricately put together and that's what made them stand out. Like, you cannot deny the level of effort whether you're a fan or not. Now it's like they're just putting out singles without much thought on the quality because they know ARMYs are gonna stream the hell out of it just because of BTS. Before, their songs get acclaim because they were undeniably GOOD, but recently I feel like they're relying more on hype instead of making an actual BOP that I know BTS had proven in the past they're more than capable of doing. I don't put the blame solely on BTS, but I think this has a lot to do with the record label they're affiliated with in the US. One other example I can think of is CL when she tried to debut in the States. Her English single has nothing on her Korean songs. It's as if to be a "successful" pop artist in the US market you have to dumb down your songs and make them sound generic... I just can't believe that the group that gave us the iconic MMA 2019 performance is the same group dancing to this lackluster teeny bopper song with cheesy lyrics. I just couldn't bring myself to like this song because I know BTS is better than this.

Yes,yes, yes to this comment! That filler remark irks my spirit because it’s essentially armys implying that the song is not worthy of being taken serious and therefore can afford to lack in quality. These small subtleties of armys just undermining BTS is just so sad to see. Specifically given how much time and devotion went into creating every single song during the HYYH, Wings and Tear era. We use to be a fandom with high, elite expectations for BTS’ music. And now we’re actually referring to their songs as fillers…

Hello there, I would kind of like to have a formal discussion with you on this. About "bringing back the old BTS", to be honest, I think it's hilarious to put it that way. What they really want(I think since I didn't quite as well enjoy their recent releases either, and that's how I felt, but PTD is something I adore. )is the quality of the music to be better, I don't know if you'd think this way, but from my point of view, IDOL, FAKE LOVE, SPRING DAY, FIRE, BS&T etc were all well-produced comparatively with PTD, DYNAMITE, and BUTTER. Also, about the thing "If you want that kind of style, just go back to those m/vs and listen to them." Well, I disagree with this statement, fans are here not ONLY because they love the artists, but for the MUSIC they think they prefer and like, and want to see more of it, so yeah they can request them for it, I mean it isn't at all bad to experiment with new things, and I am sure ARMYs would love to see different sides of them. That's why I think BTS should pay just a bit more attention to their fans(Yes, they already do, but well... Please read a bit more, sorry!), as you can see they've been trying to cheer up everyone through this dreadful and exhausting pandemic. They hadn't done that BEFORE, and you can observe that they had mostly concentrated on storyline all the other times until! DYNAMITE... So, I guess, two things they(ARMYs) want to see MORE from BTS : 1st. Quality of the music being better. 2nd. Storyline based content. I am extremely sorry, if you thought I was trying to hate on BTS, it might "seem" like it since I am not part of the ARMY, but I love a good talk about the production of music. 💙

This is probably going to be seen as a hate comment but I'm trying to be kind and honest as possible because I'm a casual listener of BTS and I want their music to get better. I get it. ARMYs are doing what they want. But tbh they just eat up whatever their fave is putting out even if it's generic and mediocre. They're blinded by their love to BTS that ARMYs fail to criticize their music quality though it's nowadays so forgettable. They praise everything they're putting out that they forget "criticism" is an important job of being a fan. And that's why BTS just keeps on making more less-quality (or if I may say, flop) music. ARMYs, if you're actually a fan of this group then you want them to grow right? Why don't you wake up in the mediocrity of their new music and recognize it so they can go back to making good music? Don't tolerate the genericness of their new music if you want them to be big in the Western audience and have a Grammy! I personally want BTS to leave a mark in the music industry, but if they keep making music this way, they won't be icons and therefore just be trendsetters that are forgotten in a couple of years. This is why ARMYs need to learn how to be critics of their fave's music (address the flaws of their songs not just point out the strengths of their music) and not just cult worship them all the way through. Your mass streaming and mass buying has never and never will build an iconic masterpiece they're going to be remembered for. Ctto Pls dont hate me🥺😭

"lose their BTS signature" they literally released a LOT of the said "BTS signature" songs aside from their 3 english songs in 2020-2021. not everything has to have a deep meaning, they literally made these songs in order for ARMYs to be happy during this pandemic. "i don't want them to win an award for this song because it doesn't showcase their real talent" are you telling me that they practiced for hours to make these songs for us just for you to say that??? most of the members aren't good at speaking in english so this was quite challenging for them, besides if singing, dancing, rapping, producing, and composing isn't their real talent then what is?? "they should win grammy awards for masterpieces ....." are you forgetting that the grammys is r4c1st and x3n0ph0bic??? of course the chance of winning a grammy award with a korean song would be a challenge.

@@rukiaoutsold You should learn to read a comment properly before attacking someone. I clearly said that the problem is NOT that the song ptd is in English. I don’t know where you got that from??? I loved the album map of the soul 7 and Be was also amazing. I actually really liked dynamite since it was refreshing and a happy song. But I just don’t like their newest release: butter and ptd. For older armys like me, a meaningful song matters. Since that’s the reason why we become an army in the first place. On a good side I feel that it makes BTS experiment with music more but on the other side I feel that it also makes it harder for them to satisfy everyone. Some of us armies might prefer Kpop over pop in general and other might prefer pop sound over kpop sound in general. I am in the latter category. Personally I liked PTD more than Butter and Dynamite. It is such a feel good song and it did make me happy. I liked Butter but it was not a summer song for me. I dont mind them singing in English at all because at the end of the day its just music and I dont care if it is in Korean or Spanish or Japanese or English . But the one thing that I wish for is that instead of releasing English singles I want them to release an English album because I want to listen alot more different sounds and music that BTS can add their essence to and singles restricts them from doing so since singles are generally upbeat songs so that's why people might feel that the music they are releasing is getting repetitive!

I agree with the autotune, So thank God for live performances !! About the other thing, The thing about concepts and BTS is that they do not just take random concepts or concepts that their company gives them. Every concept they take on comes from what they themselves feel. SO, all their old songs that you mentioned is because they were ACTUALLY going through such a time and were in that headspace. I think as they grow up and their circumstances and what's happening to them change, the content in their music does too. But I understand what you are getting at. Just wait until the pandemic is over, so that BTS wont have the additional purpose of doing what they can to make ARMY feel happiness. I'm sure they'll return to whatever direction they were planning on taking their music before the pandemic unexpectedly crash landed on us.

Even I didn't like PTD. It didn't sound like BTS, the insane amount of autotune was outrageous to me. Every English song they r putting out has the same "feel good, summer vibes" energy. It looks like BTS n their company r making songs just for charts, awards, international acceptance, but that's the thing, BTS doesn't need all this. Why do they need validation when they hv the most passionate and dedicated fandom! They are trying in to fit in someone's standards of music when they aren't meant to fit, they are made to shine and stand out. The song is catchy but I miss the older discography of BTS which made me fall in love with them. I became army after 'butter' so I'm relatively a new baby army, but still I didn't like PTD. And the internet still feels a foreign land to ppl like me who didn't like the song, the extreme fans are coming for us, and it's sad to see that cz this totally goes against d idea of kindness and inclusivity that BTS and Army stands for. I still love BTS and I find a second family in army, but not liking PTD doesn't make me a hater, and that's that. Sorry if d rant was too long but I needed to vent out.

My whole issue with people who review “permission to dance” is that everyone keeps saying the same thing. “We miss the old BTS”, that sentence alone, is full of so much selfishness and awareness. Firstly, let’s get this out of the way, the song was literally made with people suffering with disabilities in mind. So if you’re able bodied I think your opinions don’t matter to be honest. Secondly, people think that BTS’s prime was back in the day, but I personally don’t think they have hit their prime yet, I think they’re still growing as a group. Every time I hear the phrase “I miss the old BTS” it makes me think that people forget that, the old BTS didn’t know how to love themselves. They went through this journey of self healing, and they haven’t yet reached the end of that journey. They are still traveling on it, but they’re happier now, and maybe they don’t want to visit that place again. I always think this, and yet I don’t see anyone else thinking about that, I instead see everyone else being greedy and wanting BTS to make another “fake love” or save me” which I think we can safely say that they have moved past at this point. I think people need to be a little bit more self-aware. I think people need to start reading the vibe of the song before they feel the need to comment on it. Because this song literally wasn’t made for you, it was made for everyone, so that everyone can feel inclusive. Imagine not liking a song that screams happiness and inclusiveness with the added benefit of helping people with disabilities. The fans have become so entitled that they think they get to control BTS’s musical journey (the journey to love them selves). If it’s not your vibe cool, no one else who likes it cares. And sharing such comments or dialogue is only going to cause a war within the fandom. You can simply not listen to it and move on with your life instead of letting everyone in the whole entire world know. And before you say I’m reading too into it, I’m not. As someone with disabilities, I fell instantly in love with this song. And seeing the shit show on Twitter and everywhere else makes me really sad and not want to be part of the fandom anymore.

I love it. I am sorry but everything you said should shut some mouths. I guess my biggest peeve is that SOME people want to seem , i am too cool or dark for this silly happy song, or want to seem “awoke”. Those people must realize one thing. BTS is huge, so huge, in fact envious people are just itching and waiting for their first “failure” as a group. And this only fuels and gives blood to those people who want to see BTS fail so bad that their own fandom despises that song. Please if you don’t like the song, move on. I bet you if you stream it long enough, you will be humming it and before you know you might like it but please do not give ammunition to the haters. You only make those people perceive that bts is over party. I don’t ask to like the song, no one is. You as an army must know every little thing bts does is torn apart so, be aware that you, with your negative attitude, gives more work for us, who actually like the song, because we have to defend it. 😞

"After MOTS7 BTS was kidnapped and replaced". Great. You say their music quality and complexity has decreased. Are you seriously forgetting their whole self produced album BE? Lets talk about the music quality and complexity of BE. Life Goes On, a very befitting title track with great lyrics and a slow mellow pop genre theme. Blue&Grey, an acoustic themed slow ballad track with one of the best lyrics. Fly to my room, an og R&B track with less autotune and great vocals and raps. Dis-ease, most people say they miss older tracks. Well there you have it. An old school hip hop genre track. Telepathy, a whole freaking bop. A total BTS vibe song. And lastly Stay, an EDM track. Tell me by any standards the music quality of these songs is low. Literally every song of BE album was of different genre. What complexity seems missing?? Heck even the lyrics were on par with BTS lyricism. Not you'll acting like Snow Flower, Christmas Love, Abyss, Bicycle and a whole new Japanese comeback, Film Out didn't happen. Like seriously. I'm sorry if I offended you but saying that BTS got replaced is an insult to BTS' artistry when their authenticity is still there. I agree their English songs are not great. Even I don't like them. But you'll acting like BTS is sold out by just releasing 3 English songs is just downright disrespectful to BTS' years and years of hard work.
