Anyone who’s embarrassed of being seen driving this car has major insecurities and needs to reconsider how much social acceptance really matters (it doesn’t matter)

Wow! In so many ways, you sound exactly like me when talking about this car! A 20-yr old brand new car? Please take my money! This was exactly what I wanted but didn't know still existed until this year. I bought my hatchback Mirage, base model, in February, and I am loving it more and more every day. 5600 miles in. On my recent 2500-mile road trip, I averaged 49.5 mpg, actual. I don't do the Nascar thing on the highways either. I don't understand why everybody is in such a hurry all the time. I don't need to get to my destination 15 minutes ago. Better mileage and your car will last longer if you don't drive like a maniac, and you'll be less stressed and happier while driving. I saw the Mirage reviews from the car enthusiasts when I started researching, but I also saw that actual owners adored it, and that they are actually very reliable. I have heard bad things from owners of the Nissan Versa too, so that was not even an option. One difference with you & me is that I don't like all the "safety" features they're putting into cars, which is why I wanted the base model, but it's cool that Mitsubishi accommodates everyone by having those features on some trims but not on the base. I still have the collision thing though, but it's already done a false alert when approaching an overpass shadow (very common on many cars), so I turn it off. I have removed the back seat-backs, since I don't need the back seats, so my car is now a mini-camper. I also did a couple videos on my Mirage, even though I mostly do theme park/roller coaster videos.

I got a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES, I've put 21,500 miles on it in 10 months. It's a great car! Only complaint I have is a rattle, which I caused. I stripped a bolt.. But overall ignoring my fail, it's an awesome car! The engine noise to me is normal, I don't really notice it. Acceleration is just fine, I don't need sport mode to speed up, I only use it for engine braking, as I regularly go up and down mountains, and sport mode keeps the car at a slower speed going down hill. But don't see a point in using it when speeding up, or driving normally. I'm coming from daily driving a 2004 Cadillac Deville. Sure, the Cadillac has more space where you sit, the trunk is larger, but in the Cadillac you can't fold the seats down to put huge items in. The Cadillac doesn't turn as nicely in small areas, the Cadillac is harder to avoid pot holes. The Cadillac uses a lot more fuel. I average 52 MPG in my Mirage, but only around 25 MPG in the Cadillac. The Cadillac doesn't get blown around, or bumped around, and is much more quiet, I find that boring. Not as engaging. I took the Mirage off-roading today, and it went alright. I did a few miles, I just drove around the pot holes. But the trail got to a point where I didn't feel comfortable, so I turned around. It's a very thin road, 1 lane in total in size, was able to turn it around just fine. The size is perfect!

Also btw the cvt has 2 filters that need to be replaced and magnets that need to be cleaned every 30k miles. The dealer aint going to do jack, mine did not even replace the paper filter let alone drop the pan for the other filter and clean the magnets. The dealer is going to try to charge you around 600 for it which is super stupid, you can do it yourself for around 100 including shipping costs for the parts. The pan/mesh/pickup/screen filter, whatever you want to call it does not need to be replaced every 30k, more like every other service but the magnets and pan do need to be cleaned every service in my opinion. The magnets will get full and can not hold any more metal shavings and then those shaving will recirculate through the transmission and cause so many problems. This is the same for every belt cvt but I did just want to let you know. Do not listen to people that say cvts are trash, they can last a very long time when maintained properly. I WISH I had someone tell me this when I first got my mirage.

We've had 8 Mitsubishi, my wife has a 2022 Cross currently and I daily drive a 21 year old Mitsu Eclipse Spyder GT (it's on my channel). In what way? I drive mine all the time and never use it outside of engine braking down mountains. I find it useless for speeding up, I can just press the pedal a bit more. It doesn't make the 0-60 any faster. But going down long down hills it can save your brakes. It keeps the engine around 2,500-3,000. (Sometimes higher), and you don't need to use the brakes as much.

They both have the same CVT transmission... Like literally the exact same one. Except the Versa overpowers that CVT with like 150 horsepower. Even at 78 horsepower, I noticed that the RPMs creep to six from time to time. Additionally, Nissans warranty isn't nearly as good as Mitsubishis. For those reasons alone, it was a no-brainer. Go look on a site called car problems.com and compare the two cars year by year

This isn't accurate. They may have the same version of CVT but a quick check of literally any car site will show the versa has transmission problems and the mirage does not.
@Have.An.AmicoDay4 ай бұрын
Yes, it has the same CVT... however Mitsubishi programmed it differently than Nissan. Also, since the car only has 78HP, it will never put too much pressure/force on it.. unlike a 150hp Nissan... the main issue with CVT's is the fluid becomes contaminated... the 60k change interval is severely inadequate, I recommend draining and filling the fluid every 15k, and then change the filters every 30k. It only makes logical sense... at 30k those filters are plugged BLACK, just imagine at 60k, or 100k. Do the above, fluids at 15k, filters at 30k and it should last well into the 200k range.

Best of luck. Consumer Reports rates this a 39 out of 100. Owner satisfaction is 1 out of 5, car reliability is 50 out of 100. They and most owners hate the car. You could have gotten an amazing deal on a Hyundai Elantra with a TON of better features, better quality build, with fantastic warranty for a couple grand more AND they have super low interest rates now. Again, good luck, but I think you'll regret this purchase within a year or so.
