My honest, review of Trinny London Make Up

Been using Trinny products since she launched. Particularly like the bbf - really does give my complexion a boost! As a retired makeup artist, may I suggest you start with a pump and a half of bbf and put on with your fingers for the best finish. You can add a bit more just where you need it, but this is not intended to be high coverage. Putting bbf on with a brush is wasting a very expensive product as a lot will remain in the brush 😊. I agree with you about Elf cosmetics - just love them! Great video

I’ve been using the BFF cream with SPF for a year or more.I think it is very good for older skins in particular, it is light and moisturising and doesn’t ‘cake’. I don’t use as much as you did! As you say it’s not cheap but a tube lasts me a long time. When I try to use my old Lancôme base, it feels so heavy and thick in comparison. I’ve tried the eye shadow and blusher - handy for quick touch ups when you’re out but prefer my Hourglass blusher. The moisturisers,serums etc are very good - can’t afford many but they are light and the containers are very easy to handle and just pump out the right amount. I’m nearly 74 but like you, I’m not ready to give up trying to look my best.

I bought a fair amount of the Trinny London stuff a couple of years ago but I’ve never re bought any of it, nor finished a single item. Although it looks fine when it goes on it just doesn’t last. I’ve tried loads from Elf to Sisley and my current favourite is L’Oréal True Match which is not expensive but looks good and lasts for me

Trinny make up is just marketed to hell. I tried it - no pigment, greasy, cheap and nasty. Completely overpriced rubbish.

I have bought most of the Trinny London products over the years both skincare and makeup. The blushes and eye shadows last for literally years. The best product is the BFF (best applied with fingers) as it leaves a lovely, natural, glowy finish and importantly has factor 30 SPF so enough for say a winter’s day. It’s great as a primer as well. The skincare is also really good but there are cheaper products around.

Top tip Helen (just helping you out) Always look towards the light NEVER have it behind you (same when taking photos) always always have the sun in front of you in a photo. Otherwisw the classic thing happens (as in your blog) there is a mist behind you. You cannot see it yourself but when you look at a photo or video after you can see a heavy mist in the background which bleaches out the main focus… you don’t know until you know if you get what I mean. Something I learnt and always go to now I know!!! Thank you for the fab blog it’s great getting any makeup tips and watching it being applied. Dee 👍🌸

Your make up always looks so natural. Love the colour of the eye shadow. I never know whether to use a powder or a cream eye shadow. I wear hard contact lenses so have to be careful what make up I use as if it gets into my eyes it is really painful

It‘s so interesting to watch you put on makeup. I only use a little eye makeup myself , no extra colour on my face because I found it stained my hair piece. I‘m a bit underprivileged concerning hair and I’m very happy to have found a solution for this, not exactly a wig but a piece to clip on to my own hair. What I do definitely not like is a glossy or shining finish on my face skin. So usually I use a matting powder. I find that glossy skin enhances all the lines in my face.

Hi Helen, must confess I would not use anything other than Trinny London. Little tip, you need half of what you used. Just apply two pumps and wait for the colour change. Lip to cheek is fab, and all set up for a natural look. Brilliant that you have trialed this. It is expensive, but on my 78 yr old sensitive skin, it’s perfect. I am also short of space so the click pots are perfect for home and travelling. 💖there are quite often deals that give you the bags for free which are great. 💖

Helen, so pleased you like the Trinny products. My daughter uses them and recommended them to me, and she’s fussy! Yes they are a lot more cost than ELF. And still have my ELF favourites. But I am really pleased with what I purchased. I bought the mascara that also has an eyebrow brush with product you match to your brow colour, which I love.

Hi Helen, I did comment but I can’t see it now. I thought you looked lovely with the BFF, the eyeshadow is a perfect colour for you. I have been using Trinny since launch and really love all her products. I hope you explore further. Her skincare is amazing, the Retinal and Vit C are very effective. It is expensive, I can see and feel the difference in premium make up and for me it’s worth the price. I think you’d make a great model for Trinnys site ♥️

Your skin is looking lovely Helen and the BFF really suits you. Hopefully you did the Match2Me for your correct colours. Just for curiosity I went through it with YOUR hair skin & eye colourings and it came out with a completely different colour blush & lip to what you chose( much stronger & brighter). With the eyeliner to save you wasting it, you can do what Trinny does and that is apply as normal and then use your brush to smudge it in. The little Pots do last a long time and they often have things in the archive sale at half price. Love the hair parting , it really suits you.

I got caught in the Trinny hype at one time and I loved the products that I bought, especially the BFF! I don’t wear foundation so I literally put it on my chin and cheeks and I loved how even it made my skin! I really enjoyed the eyeshadows but not the lipsticks, I found they just didn’t have the staying power! Unfortunately after feeding what became a bit of an obsession 😢🤦‍♀️ I stopped, as it was just too costly but if anything, I’d buy the BFF again for a special occasion! The eyeshadows last for ages too….Chalice is still a favourite as is Virtue but all the colours I had went on well and were so pretty!

As a BFF user I love it for that reason as it's not heavy like a foundation and just seems to blend in with your skin tone. Ideal if you like a light look like I do. Helen used way too much though, lost most of it in her brush. Two pumps is plenty to put on using your fingers as it goes on like a moisturiser and then the colour develops after a few minutes.

I've been using Trinny London makeup since it was first launched and the blushers and eyeshadows literally last years. The Flush Blush isn't meant for lips - its the Lip to Cheek you need, although I only like them on my cheeks. The absolute winning product for me is the BFF. I would never want to be without it now as it gives me the most natural yet beautiful finish. It's totally worth the money. But you used waaaaaaay too much product and most of it will have disappeared into your brush! Two pumps is enough and apply with clean fingers. I too have blue eyes, and would recommend Fortune, Empress, Queen and Desire eyeshadows. 😊

I love some of Trinny's stuff especially the BFF which I use every day. I like her lip to cheek and it lasts a long time, also herBFF serum/ de-stress is also very good and a little goes a long way.

The BFF is lovely....though pricey, I only use 2 pumps and apply with fingers no need for a brush just be careful near your eyes it can sting 😢. When you get to end of the tube, I cut it open always some left to scoop out into the t- pot get at least 2/3 more applications out of it.

I only discovered Elf in the last couple of years and , like clothes, buy cheap through to expensive..Rimmel, Max Factor, Estee Lauder, Clinique etc. Super that you have not been troubled with IBS since taking Magnesium and had to laugh at the missing “I” 😂. I love the Clinique liner and i find that they dont last. I was told the trick is to only push up really slightly. I also has a couple of eyeshadows as present and they do have a nice sheen without being glittery. Take care ❤

I like Trinnys products eye n foundation and others I find the lips to cheek better in bolder colours . I’m not as keen on the lip shimmer as only use this on top of colours . Skin wise I think the detail in skin care of BB other products is really good x

Hi Helen a good review, I have used Trinny BFF for a while. It is a little expensive but lasts ages. I do find you waste a lot using a rush. Try your fingers next time. I find when it comes to the end and will not pump, cut the top off and then use a brush to get it out.

The eye shadow looked lovely. The BFF looked really natural but wow it’s expensive isn’t it. Really appreciate the truthful comments. If you ever consider doing another brand of makeup please would you test out Look Fabulous Forever. (It is supposed to be for older women). - not that you are old lol. You are younger than me 😉. I only ever see it on line and the people who do their makeup are probably given the products so I don’t know how honest their reviews are. Thanks for a great video ❤️

It’s ok but no nicer than your other makeup. I tried a sample of the bff cream and I did love it but too expensive and for me to keep using it. Which magnesium supplement are you using? I’ve tried magnesium capsulesi and helps with sleep but not my bowel issues xx

I've been using Trinny products off and on since 2019 BFF lasts a lot longer if you use your fingers, so much is wasted on a brush, after bff I use de-stress to get the finish I prefer. Works out ridiculously expensive so I buy❤ either Ilia super serum skin tint or Bobby Brown Serum foundation, both with high spf. I believe elf have just brought a out a cheaper rival which I've yet to try. The trouble with Trinny London is that I've ended up with 3 trays of make up which I hardly ever use. The expense was ridiculous and I've now learned my lesson. What colour was your blusher, it's on the bottom of the pot.

The eye make up lasted very well. Hard to tell re the face make up as it was so subtle. Though when I wore it yesterday and applied with my finger tips as recommended by ladies on here, it looked very shiny.... so I'm not convinced, tbh xx

I always enjoy your make-up videos. I have both the Trinny eyeshadows and use them a lot. I wouldn't buy the other products though, I will stick to Clinique and Look Fabulous Forever.

Best product for me is Miracle Blur that put on clean skin. It is literally poly filler for pores Just brilliant

Thanks for trying that for us Helen. It seems like all make up products here in the U.S. have gone up in price... some like 30% increase!! Even Elf, NYX,and Rimmel!!My Maybeline 24 hour lip stick used to be $7.99 a tube and now its $12.99. I have to control myself from buying makeup because it is all so interesting to me to maybe find something better than what I'm using. Oh well, good job Helen😻

Hi Helen, I use trinny London makeup I love the wisdom eyeshadow and blush I personally think it’s over priced I find elf like yourself looks just as nice. Xx

Thank you for doing this. Very helpful and interesting. Even watching on my phone, I could see the difference the skin cream made, your skin looked wonderful. I like ELF products too. A good eyelash primer , I get mine from two lasses who advertise on Facebook, they only sell a few items a d they're all good. Now if only I could recall their name 😮

I’ve used the BFF and now the SFF for about 8 years and love them both but have found the top of the tubes stops working when you’ve still got product in them!

I bought Trinny but to be honest I would have rather her reduce the price and do without the fancy packaging (which ends up in the bin), the eye shadow I bought dried up the BFF was good but too expensive for the performance it gave… Great review x

Helen your skin & makeup looked lovely - I use the Trinny products the BFF De-Stress in Binky is a lovely finish & also the moisturiser Bounce Back which is really nice & smells amazing. It all lasts a long time so although expensive at first it does last. 😍
