I agree, The final 2 episodes were amazing but that doesn’t take away from the fact the rest of the season besides certain moments(Nagi and both of Shidou’s Goals being great) was super disappointing. Especially that walkout scene, in the manga that was genuinely such an alluring panel and gave you a grasp of the competitiveness and intensity of the world we were about to enter and the anime just failed to capture that. Same with not including the “sub in Shiodu Ryusei” panel really took away the intensity and shift in pace for the match from that moment.

If you’re talking about the 3rd selection goals for Shidou I agree it was disappointing but the U20 goals were hype and great you should put Barou’s goal in it then since that had no aura around the goal not much impact frames and they cut straight to the celebration

So let’s say that the NEL ends at 295 (guess). And so far one episode adapts 3-4 chapters. Season 2 left off at 150 so theres needs to be 145 chapters adapted. That’s a 40-50 episode season😭😭😭 so no chance new get the whole nel in season 3

i think the smartest THING to do IS MAKE EVERY MATCH its own cour, like 4 cours, barcha vs bm in 2026 jan, and manshine vs bm in 2026 july/august, cour 3 bm vs ub, 2027 june, and pxg vs bm, 2027 oct.

Nah broo... actually there were so many small chapters...like literally only 1 or 2 moments happen in that chapter...so taking that in consideration they can adapt easily around 10 chapters per episode...

​@Loke_noke I think optimally the matches should be finished in summer 2026 (Next World Cup) Not only would that attract tons of hype like it did in 2022 (MONEY!!!), but it would (probably) also be enough time considering they aren't animating a whole movie at the same time. Alternatively, they could make them 4 separate movies so they all air during the WC (I don't know how long it takes to animate a movie, so I kinda doubt this one) If they started working now, they would have about a year and a half to animate everything. Of course, I would be willing to wait longer, since we all want a finished product that didn't come from a sweatshop.

I totally agree with the lowering expectations part like bro it's arguably the best arc in the show and it got treated like this and the last episode to me just was like 'you could've had this but we didn't give it to you' also the hype man THE HYPE. I waited for awhile and I was hyping it up and couldn't wait so I just read the manga which got me even more hype for the anime only to get this, now animation is hard I think I get it but like some guy said (can't remember who) the director should've made the artists focus less on making the characters detailed and more on movement. Bu that's just my opinion and is not a fact and I think we should be happy we got a good episode.

Mid is a perfect way to describe this season, very few highs and a lot of lows, the story itself kind of carried this season but you can get the same story and more from the manga.(Also, I personally think the last two episodes are a bit overhyped in terms of animation because as a reminder ep 13 didn’t have a single truly well animated scene and the first half of ep 14 was also nothing special in terms of movement/animation, the still frames were still very much present and even when they weren’t the animation definitely looked stiff.)

@Pretty much everything you said in your comment was a lie, I know good animation when I see it, ep 13 and the first half of ep 14 didn’t have any good animation and were very similar to the previous episodes in that they used still frames(with the only thing being animated during them being hair and maybe clothes). The only thing an agree with is that the animation in ep 13 has improved but the improvement was quite literally minuscule. You Blue lock fans don’t seem to understand that good art, good voice acting and hype≠good animation. Nagi’s goal is a perfect example of your ignorance as you Blue lock fans say it was well animated but the truth is that it was the bear minimum in terms of animation.

@@arturmagomedov4849 there are moments when you need still frames because of how much dialogue is there and Rin breaking through the Iron Wall Quartet is the perfect example of that. You can't animate it like the Sae dribbling scene later in the episode where there was no dialogue so they could give it a fluid animation

Blue Lock s2 was actually glued to the manga in every way. In the first 4 episodes, it was lackluster because that's literally how much they were talking. During the third selection, there was just a crap ton of dialogue, so it's fair that they kept everything the same. Especially when it came to the real u20 match. That's why I think everybody was so mad. Because when the match started at the end of ep5 and really bagan in ep6, the animation started to pick up, and people were upset it didn't start like that. However, they completely skip over how the beginning of the season(despite being lackluster) was able to convey everything perfectly fine in terms of narrative, even with the slideshows. I think it's more important about the quality that we got. We had everything in a pinpoint representation of the manga, and the narrative was met. The animators may have came off as lazy, but they actually hit home and nailed the coffin.

After rewatching jjk season 2and blue lock season 2 i can see season 3 of blue lock taking an approach of what jjk did. In terms of scenes that show no soccer being played (flashbacks,monologues,etc...) they can give the characters detail such as the shading and colours and all that good stuff While for movement they tone down the detail in exchange for dynamic and clean movement (not to the extent of scribbles and stickman) While still keeping the characters look like themselves just not very poppy if you get what i mean In my opinion thats the most optimal for them to make season 3 insane What do you think of this theory or take?

Good summary of the season. Still, as an artist myself and a person who watched 15 k anime episodes in my life, this last 2 episodes were "good" but not overwhelming or "very good". Not enough music, still most of it slideshow panels with the exception of the Rin-Sae showdown, which also wasn't nearly on the JJK level and still pretty ugly - not that far over fanvideos on YT. And yes, the stadium entrance was the thing i looked forward the most. Like you said, it's has to feel like entering a new unknown world. Wind, light effects, the modern looking stadium - all missing. But i'm happy that people like you are still outside, that don't glaze everything they get to watch just because it's from a franchise.

I actually completely agree, the last two episodes are getting glazed way too much in my opinion in terms of animation. Ep 13 was really nothing special and in fact was pretty bad from an animation standpoint and the same can be said for the first half of ep 14. Rin vs Sai, while it was good, is not really on the level people are saying it is and is more than likely the case due to recency bias. In their words the animation during that scene was “amazing“ which is really only true when it is compared with the rest of the season.

Overall the season was mid at best. There were a few moments, that were pretty decent(mostly a few of the U20 goals) and episodes 13-14, although i have to say that until the format changed into that movie-like screen, both episodes weren't great either. So apart for veeery few moments, the animation was trash or not even existent before and throughout the whole match.

The fact that we didn’t get the day off chapters is CRAZY. I know we will probably get it at the beginning of s3 but it’s a complete mistake and gimps Isagi’s character arc. We see him at the end talking to his new little fan and to Tada and his determination of how he has changed not the world but he wants to stay in blue lock. There’s also Rin’s moment reflecting on how he lost to Isagi. All eliminated which makes the entire arc weaker as a story. Horrible ending point to end on Kunigami in my opinion.

I hate these video essays because they are always done by people who have no idea what they’re talking about. The fact that you’re saying this deserves the treatment of JJK S2 despite knowing the treatment of the animators who had to work on it as well as the general unfinished mess of each and every episode, is super super crazy dude. If Blue Lock is the highest selling manga of 2023, then the brand would need to take advantage of the hype to keep it going. Production of JJK S2 didn’t end until January 2024, a whole 3 years after JJK S1 ended, and a month after the series already ended. Unless a dream team of animators come together on a whim like for One Punch Man, this type of animation is not possible consistently and no studio couldn’t pulled it off. Respect the animators.

I think you might be a little blinded by the quality of the manga, because specifically the walkout scene had me jumping out of my chair bc of how hype it was. Hearing the screaming and the doors opening up was amazing. I like this season even better than the first one, mainly because of the plot, it also the u20 game was adapted well. Even though there were still frames, I think the majority of it had motion, and for episodes 10, 11, arguably 12, and obviously the last two, it was high quality. I also think the story of the people in the crowd, and seeing them change to cheering for blue lock was awesome, especially with the blue haired girl. The fact that some people are saying we should’ve had animation like the last episode throughout the whole season is a little crazy though, mainly because of how high quality it was. I think episode 13 should be the base quality for the u20 game. I also think you underrated the music, the only time it wasn’t a bop was when sae had the ball for like 5 minutes in episode 7. I agree with most of your points, but as an anime only I’d rate the u20 around an 8 and from what I’ve seen the manga is an 11/10. I’m actively forgetting the third selection because the only decent episode was episode 4.
