I believe in the philosophy of having other playable characters play as an extension of Sonic’s core gameplay. No drastically different gameplay styles that switch genres. The classic sonic games utilized this mindset and I really think it would benefit the modern sonic games going forward IMO.

What I’d love to see, aside from the game being almost entirely 3D and having a story that actually has a strong tone again, is for the open world to have interesting movement mechanics. Not just hold the boost button to zip around places, a way to keep speed going through some kind of movement tech
@Spannondorf2 жыл бұрын
100% agree. Even if it was optional like all of the tech in Mario Odyssey, having something to mess around with and make exploration enjoyable would be fantastic

@@Spannondorf I also think it would be interesting if the rings increase sonic's movement speed, the more he collects rings the faster he can move and roll, but if he loses them his movement speed resets to default.

I’m hoping the enemies and the weather will challenge Sonic when it comes to movement. For instance, if Sonic were to come across an enemy with homing lasers, it could chase you down. Imagine running for your life from an enemy and dodging attacks until an opportunity to take them out surfaces. When it comes to weather, I would love rain storms and heavy wind that make it difficult, but not impossible to move throughout the world. Whether that takes the form of lighting strikes that target you, or wind that pushes you forward increasing your forward momentum allowing you to reach new areas or run out of control if the player doesn’t adapt. Also, one thing that I wanted to do in a Sonic game is just being able to boost at high speeds in a vast desert. The desert sequence in the first Sonic movie comes to mind.

I fully agree with wanting a more Heroes or Colours inspired art style. Honestly, Frontiers looks too much like a generic open world, and I've never been much of a fan of "photorealistic" art styles in Sonic games. Would much prefer if the landscapes were as abstract and saturated as the main cast themselves. Plus, imagine a Sonic game with the art style of MK8 and the geometry, texturing and graphical quality of Kena. Would be a gorgeous sight to behold. In any case, though, Frontiers being open world does create the fantastic opportunity for bringing back the marble/pinball inspired movement formula: gravity, inertia, acceleration, momentum, slopes, curves, loops, etc. That stuff. But, for whatever reason, Sonic Team seems allergic to that and unable to make it work despite Mario and other games doing just that and doing it well.

Here’s what I hope for Sonic Frontiers: *I hope the gameplay is amazing. *I hope they bring back the Adventure formula in this game. Especially since it’s an open world game. *I hope the storyline is great, and that it brings Sonic and the gang back to their former glory, by giving them their Adventure Era personalities. *I hope all of Sonic’s friends are also playable. *I hope Jun Senoue is the musical director for the game. *I hope they get Crush 40 on the soundtrack. *And I hope the final boss is NOT Robotnik.

Odyssey expanded on rolling but it was introduced in 3D Land and also was in 3D World
@Spannondorf2 жыл бұрын
True, but land/world's level design didn't take much advantage of momentum, which is mostly what the roll would be used for in Sonics case.

I know it’s really REALLY far-fetched but they could make a dark super sonic dlc or put it in the story somehow I really miss dark sonic/dark super sonic #bringbackdarksonic

I'd absolutely LOVE a Chao Garden. I have a video coming out on Saturday with more ideas, glad you enjoyed this one!

Looking forward to your opinion on frontier. Kinda excited to try something new with sonic but definitely waiting before picking it up.

Obviously one of the unlockable characters should be Big the Cat with the ability to fish
@Spannondorf2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if you unlocked Big and all he did was fish, like you walked up to him fishing and talked to him to play a fishing minigame, that'd be okay. Every open world game needs a good fishing minigame.

I am engaging with the content for the algorithm. I do not have strong sonic opinions.

Copied from another video asking the same question: I'm still gonna die on the hill of Sonic Frontiers should have a music player feature that includes songs from past games, ala Generations but more songs, like 3-4 per game.
@Spannondorf2 жыл бұрын
That idea wasn't even on my radar, but I love it. Letting us pick any song in the game plus a bunch of songs from the past 30 years of Sonic would be incredible.
@saltystick_992 жыл бұрын
@@Spannondorf It totally would be Like, could you imagine blasting through one of the islands as Sonic while His World plays? That's pure serotonin
@Spannondorf2 жыл бұрын
@@saltystick_99 I was wondering what would work for collectibles in an open world Sonic game. Customizable music tracks would fit the bill pretty well.
@saltystick_992 жыл бұрын
@@Spannondorf Especially since none of the heavy hitting open world games (Breath of the Wild, Legends Arceus, and Genshin just to name a few) have a customizable music track option. The best comparison I can make for what I'm envisioning is MGSV where you can get songs via cassette tapes lying around, and even make your own playlist from a folder on your PC. The only other "open world" game I can think that does it is Super Mario Odyssey, but it only uses songs from the game itself and not songs from other Mario games, plus the songs reset every time you go into a different area. It would really make Frontiers stand out from the other Open World games in that way.
