These are not regular seasonal fires in dry areas (which usually can be controlled because people there already know that sometimes these happen so they have measures to fight that off). These are man made, like last time in Brasil election times, when they started burning the Amazon Jungle and people blamed Bolsonaro. In Argentina, in the south of the country, we also have (fake) "natives" which burnt down a big portion of our national parks and reserves.

I don´t understand why the law is not much harder, is not the fire, is all the animals and de polution after the rain that goes to the rivers and kill all the fish because they can´t breathe and then in the sea....

And year after year, govt after govt, theres still no propper investment in means to fight combat, and the people setting fires barely even get a slap on the wrist, since theres a whole mafia behind it. It's sad and degenerate behavior. in 2017 there was a huge fire, alot of people were on the road and got caught, 66 dead 250+ injured, and you know what happened? As an Australian 🇦🇺 you may remember a few years back our entire country was pretty much ablaze and blanketed a lot of the northern hemisphere with smoke etc. you and your fellow citizens have our love 🥰and support and can relate with what your going through. We had neighbours and friends losing homes during this time and I was in extreme danger zone with a few calls to evacuate and when you have elderly parents and pets etc it makes the move harder. I too had a scare like this a couple of years ago. Really changed my perspective on what was really important to me. It was quite difficult being displaced for a while. It's a privilege to have internet and access to basic amenities. Running water is a blessing. We have hardly any reporting on this matter where I live. I knew word of mouth that this was going on but your video is the first I've seen with actual footage. I hope the fires are somewhat contained or working towards that. I saw a forest fire, we were protected from it by a river, which the fire could not cross. It was impossible to breathe because of the smoke, my eyes were always in tears. It's horrible. I can't imagine what you experienced there, because the river didn't protect you and the fire could penetrate into your houses. I'm really sorry that this happened to you. The smouldering ashes would be called embers in English. But yeah man I hadn't heard about these fires in Portugal at all. I lived in California for a couple years and a big fire came right up to our subdivision one time, so I definitely understand. Experiencing it in person, feeling the heat, seeing how fast it can cross the roads, all these places that you recognize-no amount of seeing videos can compare to firsthand. Good to know you managed to survive and that seems like the worst has already happened, with this said i hope that this becomes the warning the government needs to start dealing with the over growth in forests so that it doesn't happen again in the future, in general the iberic and Mediterranean forests are designed to burn to keep themselves in check, in other countries this simply doesn't happen because one of the job of forest patrols is to take care of the over growth between trees so that this exact situation doesn't happen, or that if a fire occurs doesn't spread as fast and is more easily contained. This is also an issue in Spain, where doing literally anything good for everyone like fire prevention like dealing with the overgrowth and other tasks related is done only around big cities and that's it, the rest of towns or villages can go F themselves.

A few months ago my in laws house almost burned down while we were staying with them in Chile. Most of their property burned down, but the house survived. It's was VERY scary. Shit gets real very fast. The worst part is that fires easily start up again as the ground can often smolder with embers for days or even more in some circumstances. The uncertainty is horrible. I'm glad everything is ok. You got lucky.

I live in South Africa and we had a MASSIVE bush fire. A whole town burned down. I live next to a game reserve and the fire plume was like 10 metres away from the property wall. There were at least 30 people fighting the fire and the winds were gale force. We survived and our house is fine. I am very glad you guys are okay! Fires are terrifying. Had a nasty cough for a while and my PC smells like smoke.
