This may be unpopular but I have a cleaner come twice a month to clean everything thoroughly. I’m a clean freak and it helps me mentally so much and I budget it as part of self care. Of course there are daily tasks and I freshen things up every few days but it’s peace of mind knowing the big stuff will get done!!

We do this too. I’m a mom of 4 (ages 6m to 6y) and some days it feels impossible to catch up on everything. It’s so nice knowing that every other week, every single room in my house will get cleaned all at once! Even if it doesn’t last long with all these kids 😂 We originally hired her when I was extremely pregnant with my third (and dealing with a lot of pelvic pain that made it difficult to get any cleaning done some days!) but her price is so reasonable ($20/hr and it only takes her 1.5 hours so $30 plus a tip!) that we feel it’s well worth it.

Same! I have had a cleaning crew come every other week for almost 10 years. I am super organized and tidy, but my house is too big to clean alone! It take four women two hours and it is the best money I spend every month.

It is not a bad thing. But because cleaning was my part-time job for five years while studying ( cleaned a kindergarten and a disabled friends flat) I somehow think it would be strange to pay someone else to do MY job. Just a psychological barrier.

Yes, I eeek out ALL my toiletries ! I cut my Burts Bees handcream tubes in 1/2, put them in a ziplock bag, and use them up entirely! I use some every night and can get almost a month's worth this way!! I " dig" for the last of the lipstick and lip balm. I cut open toothpaste tubes. I use the slivers of soap . I add water to shampoo and conditioner bottles, shake them up, and use it up..... You are not alone frugal mama! 😉

I recently created a cleaning checklist once we started our family. It keeps me focused on certain tasks during each day so I can spend the weekends enjoying time with my family instead of feeling like I have to clean the entire house. It also stops me each day after I get certain tasks done instead of jumping from one task to another because I know those tasks are for another day. Keeps me in check.

I totally agree with the idea of staying on top of the daily tasks, and I love that you discuss how it's finding what works for you. I'm not naturally an organized person, but I thrive with structure; it wasn't until I made a daily/weekly/monthy tasks list did I ever make cleaning a sustainable habit for myself. Also, my list is always adapting based on what tasks need to be daily seasonally and just what is and isn't working. Bloggers sharing their cleaning lists is lovely, but it wasn't until I started adapted them to my life and my home did I feel like it was attainable and helpful. There's no one right way :)

For things like lotions, toothpastes, shampoos and conditioners you can cut the packaging open and scrape the rest into a little Tupperware to continue using from there. You'll be amazed how many days of use are still left inside! Nope. I need to develope a cleaning schedule. Sometimes things get forgotten about for waaay too long. And it's a problem. I love your bins for the kids! We've done something similar where I make a pile and ask them to bring it to their rooms. But it's still me asking them to do it. I love how the bins get it out of your way but keep it THEIR responsibility to take care of. I will be trying this for sure with my 3 and 4 yr olds.

A couple weeks ago, "Vicki Marie Living Life" posted a video where she talked about "responding in the moment" when it comes to cleaning. This was so validating to me because I could never stick to the various cleaning schedules that I've sort of tried, like I'm not going to wash baseboards with no visible dust or dirt on them! If I see prints on the windows, I wash them. If I see dust/crumbs/mess/whatever, I just take action at that time. There are certain things I do every day because resetting the bedroom and kitchen fit with that "responding in the moment" philosophy but there are plenty of other things that only get done every week or 2 or more 'as needed' rather than according to a set schedule that inevitably sets me up for failure.

Love being encouraged and motivated to clean alongside with you, Natalie! And I have felt the same way in my current season, doing away with cleaning a room of the day or whatever. I just do it as I can. And sometimes that means a day or two reset and thats ok! Love how you feel about company coming over too. I'm with you on that. No one cares about the pile of laundry or dirt in your house. After all, we LIVE in our houses. Thank you for your authenticy and sharing all the fun side things you do. Hailey dancing in the rain brought back memories. I loved dancing in the rain as a little girl, cuddling up with a book in a window seat as a teen. I tried to cultivate that love with my kids, but only the girls grew in it. I have 1 that still loves to go walking in the rain & curls up in a window seat staring out at the storminess...dreaming. ❤ As for checklists... I loosely follow flylady. I use it more as a suggestion. Lol. As a homeschooling mom of 5 littles, I needed checklists to remind me what needed to be done and what got done. My brain felt frazzled much of the time. Today, I am homeschooling my last in his last year, and things are slower. My brain is much less frazzled. 😅 But, I still find myself referring to flylady tips, suggestions, etc. I do have a power hour each Monday to restore order from the weekend. I still vacuum and mop on Mondays and Thursdays. I dust on Mondays and Thursdays. I do laundry on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Hubby just moved my clothesline to its new location closer to the house, and I am loving it. I change my bedsheets on Friday. It's a small way of helping my husband relax and leave the workweek behind him by crawling into crisp clean sheets Friday night. I reset my bathrooms daily as well as my kitchen and living room. I try to have the kitchen all buttoned up before bed, but there are other souls in this house who don't go to bed when I do. 😂 Flylady has helped me in the decluttering. I'm such a hoarder at heart, and there are some things I will never get rid of. But in this new season, I need to declutter homeschool books, and that is hard for me. It's emotional. It makes me weepy. I miss my littles. But decluttering schoolbooks and donating them is what I am doing this week....as soon as I get the dust off my ceiling fans. When did that get there? 😮😊

I love watching because you are real - I don’t get the KZbinrs who mop and hoover everyday and change the bedding three times a week! This last few weeks have been sunny in the UK ( yes it is sunny here sometimes) so we have spent our time in the garden - the house can wait until it rains - just like you. A few times a year we have big family get togethers and the house gets blitzed ( next one in August) the rest of the time we clean as we go. It’s always tidy as I’ve decluttered and our kids have grown but the cleaning gets done when required - life’s too short for constant housework. Thanks for all you do ❤❤❤

I vacuum hardwoods everyday along with dishes, laundry, and wiping counters. As far as a schedule I wash sheets and vacuum carpets on Friday. Clean out the fridge every week before garbage day and mop when it’s done raining, the ground is dry, and no rain on the forecast 😆 Bathrooms and dusting happen randomly. I’m also a naturally very tidy person. I’ve been that way my whole life. So cleaning and maintaining my home comes very easy and naturally for me. I joke it’s the only thing I’m good at. 😆 all those blogs you see like “10 habits of tidy people” I could have written every.single.one.of.them. 😆 Minimalism most definitely helps maintain a home no matter if you’re naturally tidy or messy.

People tend to assume I'm very organized, but I have drawers that bother me because I can't seem to keep them organized, but I do well. I even created a shopping list of items we can buy for our house to help with organization or cleaning. On the minimalist side of things, I've been working on minimalizing our home. I've decluttered (almost) half of our kitchen since it's just my dad, brother, and me. I've gotten to a point with my clothes so I can keep everything out year-round without worrying about it being stuffed in a tote. There are better ways than that, but I only have a few winter clothes, and most of what I'd wear for the fall-winter months I have to wear for my job.

Lol. I grew up having to clean with my siblings every Saturday. I couldn't go play until it was all done to my mom's perfection. She wanted everything cleaned and baked for Sunday incase we invited someone over for dinner after church. Monday was wash day. Tuesday was ironing . I can't remember what she did on Wednesday, but on Thursday she would go visit grandma or her sister. I hated Saturdays so much that to this day I refuse to clean😂 unless we're going to have someone over on that day. You would think I would be over that since I'm 70😅😅😅 I hate schedules. If you ever want to switch away from whatever window cleaner you're using, I bought the purple Norwex cloth and it just needs water and leaves beautifully streak-free windows and mirrors! Definitely worth it. I have one for upstairs and one for down. My daughter has started taking her three kids into one room and working with them for just 30 minutes to declutter/clean. After 30 minutes, they are done, whether the room is finished or not, but it's that same teamwork concept as well as the idea of making them stewards of their home. I do that with my husband for an hour at a time, but not every day. But I'm short, he's tall, and sometimes there are things I just can't do without him. Teamwork gets'er done!

I used to have a cleaning schedule that worked well most of the time for weekly things and bigger things just got done as needed. Then pregnancy with the youngest happened + two depression diagnosis and things went down hill from there. So now two years later and finally realizing that old routine just doesn't work anymore, but we desperately need cleanliness, routine, and order for all of us to function better, not to mention we start our homeschoolingforbthe firsttime in the fall to add to the craziness. So I've decluttered a ton over the last two years, and currently starting to experiment with the flylady app to see if zone cleaning will be better and adjusting her sysytem to fit with what i already have in place that does work.

Just had to say, I'm watching this a few hours after my daughter was born. Nursing her now, exhausted, and amazed. After miscarriages and a super early preemie we just had a baby born a day after her due date! God is so kind so us in giving us this beautiful, healing birth and healthy baby. 😭😭 Just had to share, because a few times my "favorite things to share has been that she made it to x number of weeks. 😊

First-I don’t have children at home and I’m very careful what comes in the door so the house doesn’t get piled. But I do office work and business accounting/payroll and laundry on Tuesday -I always fold laundry to your video. Thursdays I clean my bedroom and bathroom and one other section of my house. I’m pretty strict with myself with this schedule and my mind is free the rest of the week and then my house is mostly company ready.

I don't have a cleaning routine or anything written down. However, I would like to. We do sweep after every room since the baby drops food. We also do all the dishes every day. Other than that we do things as needed.

I don't have a cleaning schedule, but I think I need to make one! One thing about the refrigerators, though, is that I use "trash night" as my reminder to get all the yuck out so it all goes to the curb for the next morning pick up. :)

I really just clean a bit each day. Set goals for bigger cleaning that i would like to get done that week...and i do not beat myself up if it doesnt get done...i do enjoy cleaning...but i do love a clean house...so i tend to do whats important like the kitchen counters and toilet and let everything else fall into place naturally.

My cleaning schedule is really basic (and all my kids are under age 6 so my house is never fully clean). Every morning I empty the dishwasher, that way dirty dishes can go straight in during the day. I try to clean up all the way after each meal. At night, I run the dishwasher on a delay cycle so it’s ready to unload in the morning. At night, I also start a delay cycle of clothes washing. In the morning when I wake up, it’s ready for the dryer. Then at noon after I get kids down for a nap, clothes are dry and ready to be put away. I try to vacuum and get a good clean on Fridays and Mondays. We usually have company for dinner on Sunday night, so I clean the house then, too. Other than that, I clean everything as I see it on an “as needed” basis.

I have a loose routine so certain things get done each week. I sometimes do Mon & Tues stuff Monday if I have an appt on Tues, etc. if I want to swap out different days tasks for whatever reason I'm flexible. Decluttering is a maintenance task. My desk can get messy, but I tidy the kitchen 2× a day quickly. Different seasons life chapters may require/ lean toward different routines. We do try to do at least a load of laundry a day so it doesn't get out of control. An equal partner, and simple pared down living makes my goals much more attainable.
