This is such a thoughtful video. As a former deployed soldier I’ve been in and around war, and even protested them, but I’d never seen natural disasters and invasions compared in a way that illustrates the inherent awfulness and inhumanity of war for civilians.

Thank you Natasha for your excellent video. I am horrified by what your parents and the people of your home region must endure. We are so fortunate to live in Canada. We too have had many floods living in our city of Regina. The difference is our government has taken numerous measures to prevent this from happening in the future. I really don't know what my wife and I would do if we had such a flood, we are both in our 70's and disabled. I am so saddened by the state of your political system in Russia. Thank you for documenting what happened to your family and hometown. And the follow-up up by the government. Sadly, you highlight the terrible situation for babuskas and women who need help cleaning and recovering their home to the bare miniumum to live there. I hope the government will do more, but chances are the locals will need to help each other. Maybe the teenagers used for PR can help clear out homes. Hope your parents can get the house liveable as winter approaches. This video is important to show real Russia, not just Moscow.

We mostly hear about Moscow and St Petersburg, but as you say the rural areas are probably better examples of how Russia really operates. And yes, forget the constitution has been changed ten times so Putin could sit in total power for 24 years now. And the West knew that perfectly, yet shook Putin's hands. Sorry about flooding in your house Natasha, I am glad your parents were able to save your cool animals. I have a small dog and I would never let anything bad happen to him. Here is USA we have a government agency called FEMA. FEMA makes flood map for flood zones. FEMA also requires that people that live in these flood zones get flood insurance. Flood insurance use to not be expensive, I don’t know now. We also have ARMY Corp. of Engineers to help make projects to prevent flooding like the Los Angeles River. So your analysis was correct, there is a lot of things the Government can do to protect its people from flooding and other natural disasters. Good analysis Natasha

You are the first Russian vlogger I started to follow several years ago, and I recall when you were still living at home and giving us a tour of your house. You also gave us a tour of your area (and a secret military base). This was long before the “SMO.” I followed your channel when you left home, when you moved to another city, and when you went to college. I recall you celebrating New Years Eve by yourself. You have had to make difficult decisions-particularly when you decided to move to Tblisi. You have a big heart, Natasha, and you also have a very smart brain. You should actually be helping to run the government of Russia. You as well as many other Russian vloggers had unwittingly become goodwill ambassadors for Russia, and until the “SMO,” people like me were learning a lot about Russia and actually wanted to visit such a beautiful and diverse country. You guys were making millions of friends all over the world! Now, instead of millions of people visiting Russia, Putin has caused millions of people to flee Russia. He has no idea how stupid he is. In that light, there are many countries with stupid leaders, including the United States. My government as well as Russia spends so much money on “defense” that they ignore the needs of their own people. They ignore a deteriorating infrastructure. The oligarchs in both of our countries are complicit in this crime. They don’t have to worry about floods in their homes, because they have many homes in many countries. In a manner of speaking, we are not enemies-it’s government and military leaders who are the enemy. I hate to say this, but the United Nations is the enemy as well, because it is useless in preventing wars. Over a billion people in the world live in poverty and about half the world only have basic needs met. 750 million people in the world have no electricity. About two billion do not have access to safe drinking water. 3.6 billion people lack adequate sanitation services. But one thing that many countries have, even poor countries, are plenty of guns and arms. Altogether countries spend $2 trillion dollars a year on weapons. Imagine if that money was used for the people and the infrastructure. The United Nations has 37,000 employees with offices in 193 countries. When this organization was formed in 1945, right after World War II, the idea was to prevent another world war. They have spent untold billions of dollars over the decades. Where did the money go? Now there such serious wars occurring that we could be on the brink of World War III-not to mention nuclear war. Sorry this comment is so long, but I want everyone to see the big picture. I have toured much of Italy and Carthage looks interesting. You did an excellent job presenting this story, and I am sorry your family home got flooded, but on the bright side it sounds like all your family is okay, "things can be replaced, people cannot." A couple of the engineering consulting firms I use to work for did a lot of river modeling (I did a lot of river modeling) here in the U.S. A lot of people are unaware the amount of time and money the US Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) invest in studying flooding here in the US. Using historical flood events, projected weather patterns and current land forms, they/we have simulation software which can predict where flooding may occur. The flood maps the ACOE produces affect where developers can/cannot build, insurance rates, structural design of bridges, revetments and dam works. We even studied, the velocity along the rivers for different year flood events, stuff like, scouring, landscape sheer, debris & mineral depositing and of course updating the ACOE flood maps to adjust for present condition. "is it perfect engineering...no, but it is pretty damn close." The important thing is the ACOE taks an active role studying the river systems, make recomendations, and help to define a set of design criteria to eliminate or mitigate flooding.

People in the United States do not expect the federal government to save them from floods, solve all their problems, and give them a check for a million dollars to buy a new home. In the USA, as far as I know, many households buy insurance, the cost of which depends, among other things, on the risks. And in Russia almost no one buys. But if something happens, tears and complaints begin about the wrong government, which did not save, did not provide. At the same time, potential flood zones are well known. Moreover, people still build in them because the house should be closer to the water. As for the reaction of the authorities, I remember in the US there were discussions that the federal government was not helping the victims of a train accident where chemicals spilled and caught fire.

The area where I grew up was flooded in 2021 near Abbotsford, BC, Canada. It was strange to see the place on the news, recognizing everything except the water. Food stores were temporarily supplied by vans because trucks couldn't drive on the road. Private pilots were also flying emergency supplies to some people who were trapped. I was super impressed how the government rebuilt the Coquihalla Highway so that trucks could supply some parts of the province again after a few weeks. I hope you have heard about the flooding in Grand Forks BC as well. There is very poor planning by the Canadian Government and also the provincial one, because they let houses to be built in the flood zone land. I was super impressed how the government rebuilt the Coquihalla Highway? It's quite a new highway, and if they have designed and built it properly the damage to the highway would not happen. Regarding the Canadian infrastructure it's on par with any Banana Republic! Bureaucracy, incompetents, always late, and over budget almost any project in Canada.

Canada remains a democratic country founded upon the principles of peace, order, and good government. Natasha i hate to correct you because i love your content. Please remember that just because we have 'two sides' showing opinions does not mean that the American people have knowledge of both sides. We have very much two seperate bubbles that the majority of people do not cross intovthe other side to get a broad perspective of events. We have strong biases on both sides and more extremist views than ever before. It is not 'perfect' here on this side of the fence either. Please know, that in the states we DO NOT have freedom of speech anymore and we have not since the 2000's. We have a variety of opinion and most of those opinions are NOT based in strong facts from either side of the fence. We ara all people doing our best to survive global warming and all forms of hate. Natasha, you have produced a documentary about this destructive event that is informative and thought-provoking. Thankfully, your parents and their pets have survived. They have cleaned the house as best they can. However, no amount of cleaning will get rid of the mould that is sure to be there. Some of us are more sensitive to mould than others but long-term breathing of mould spores will damage anyone's health. Here in Canada, all our homes have some mould. The trick is to keep it to a minimum by avoiding excessive moisture in the inside air. Exhaust fans in the bathroom and kitchen are a must. Windows should be kept open a crack even on cold winter days. Sealing up a home to make it feel cozy and warm can make the air quality worse. Good luck to your family and everyone affected by this flood. Keep us informed.

Yes, keeping one's living quarters dry is important for health. I try to maintain 44% relative humidity in the lower areas, using dehumidifier as necessary. Upper areas with the risen warmed air can usually maintain their dryness naturally because warmed air is drier.

Уксус (white vinegar) is a very effective and inexpensive mould killer. I used to spray it on affected beams and seemingly clean beams in danger in my house and it solved my problem.

So sorry for the flooding of your families home Natasha. It must be very difficult for them. I hope they are able to recover from it quickly. I know it's frustrating when you can't get information due to government censorship. I have great difficulty getting information from Russia because here in the USA they have censored new sources from Russia like RT and Sputnik.
