Lol! Yup, its huge...but as an achro it's not too heavy, so that's something! Looking forward to first light when we get some sun up here! ;) Hope you have a great week, mate! :)

Depends what I'm doing as to which is my fav scope: for planetary - my SW Skymax 180 Pro, for Ha Solar - my Lunt, for white light solar - my SW ED80 DS Pro with a Lunt Herschel Wedge, for general observing - my SW 200P Newt., for widefield astrophotography - undoubtedly the ED80 DS Pro. This Bressier lump is achromatic rather than apochromatic so will not be in the same league as the SW Pro series' - should be OK for white light solar photography (but VERY cumbersome! A bit of a waste of effort using the mount needed to take it when better results can be obtained with a much smaller setup), big isn't always better or even "as good as" sometimes, and this looks like one of those occasions.

I picked up the AR102/600 version of this scope (£200) about a month ago to get into astrophotography, and my HEQ5 and camera arrived about 2 weeks ago; but I live in Ireland and haven't even had a chance to use it yet because of the stupid clouds. The scope feels like good quality, apart from the cheap plastic finder scope, but I suppose they have to cut corners somewhere, and I'm fine with them cheaping out on the finder scope. I also have a Bresser 10" Dob, and it's great. I really like that they include a solar filter with every scope, it's really great for beginners.

That's great to hear mate and hope you get a chance for some proper sessions soon...yes, its been the same across the sea here in Scotland too with the clouds, but we recently had a few clear days/nights...good luck with the AR102 and let us know how you get on with it! Have a great weekend! :)

@@amarbirk8987 Hi mate...there's certainly more Bresser 127 videos coming, I have over a dozen videos that completed and they're lined up in a queue, so it'll be coming soon. I highly recommend it and the optics have been superb, especially for solar! I've posted some images on my Astrobin feed, so you can go check them out in the meantime...thanks for watching! :)

I just sold mine as it was a bit too Long and heavy for my EQ5 mount once you add the finder scope on and a diagonal and eye piece its nearer to 9Kg , It really needs an EQ6 mount to keep rock solid. Its a nicely made scope with good optics. You got a really good deal on that scope as they are normally £414. I sold mine for £280 and put a little extra for a second hand Sky Watcher ED80. Look forward to see how you got on.

Yes, its a bit of a beast, but I love it! The optics are superb on my one...you're so right about the mount too...I've got mine on a NEQ6 and its been solid so far, so fingers crossed that continues! Have a great weekend and best wishes! :)

This is due to optic of the telescope.... Achromatic Telescopes are much cheaper than Apochromatic Telescopes at equal Focal Lenght and Aperture...

I have the very same scope that I used for solar outreach but it's the earlier model without the hex focuser so it's not as good, however for white light & general observing it's been a great performer so I cannot complain, hmmm favourite scope now this could be tricky as I've got a couple, firstly I have a RASA 11, when it's dialled in it's an awesome scope there is no doubt but it does have quite a few flaws to, firstly it's the version one so an autofocusser is pretty useless due to mirror flop, the weight of the thing to you will need a big beefy mount there is no doubt, it's been a bit of a love hate relationship of the scope especially as the centre lens element can unscrew if you're not careful removing your camera & that is a real pain. Secondly there's my 250PX Dobsonian tube, bit of an odd one this as I got it as just the tube only but its served me well for imaging with a 1200mm FL & being F4.8 & I'm hoping to use it for galaxy season soon, I've got some doublet refractors which I've use an ED80 evostar & an Altair 102 EDR both aren't bad performers, I'd love a triplet but I just don't have the money for those.

Great to hear from your experiences, mate...thanks for sharing! Yes, looking forward to seeing what it can do with the Quark and the Apollo! You've also got a great line up of scopes yourself by the sounds of it! I'm in the midst of a C6 Hyperstar build, so looking forward to getting some RASA type speeds for the rare clear nights we're getting at the moment! Have a great week! :)

On the planets it should have a very nice image quality up to 180 - 200x magnification and on DSO it should be comparable to a same-sized 5 inch APO.

You mention in the video that it's got a hexa focusser without mentioning what it is or what's special about it compared to ordinary focussers. Also, where did you buy it for under £300? I'm interested in getting this myself (currently have a Celestron Astromaster 90AZ), but the cheapest I've seen is £399 from Harrison's
@scotiaastro
@scotiaastro Жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, thanks for tuning in. There’s nothing particularly special about the hexafocuser over other types, in regards to quality. I was just referencing it, because one is used on this scope and one thing you’ll see that I do mention (and was impressed with) is my copy is very smooth and solid, which helps in stability with focussing for visual and imaging uses, so thought that would be helpful info. :) The hexafocuser is a reference to its shape. I got mine from Amazon UK (which was actually dispatched through the Amazon EU site) for £291.00 including customs duties which are all paid at the time of ordering, which I found hassle free. There’s a link to it in the description below the video. I just checked and it’s increased in price to £321.00, but that’s still substantially cheaper than anywhere else, so I still find it a great bargain. Hope that helps and if you need any more help, just let me know. Have a great day…👍🏻🔭📸

Hi and thanks for tuning in! :) I certainly have used this scope a great deal and you can see some examples on the Shorts section of my Channel here on KZbin and on my other social media channels (link in my description). I was also awarded a Top Pick nomination on Astrobin for one of my images with the Bresser, so it's been kept busy. ;) Living here in Scotland there's unfortunately a great deal of rain to contend with and rare clear skies (good enough for imaging at least), so making longer form content can be tricky. Also, I'm a stay at home Dad with two disabled children, so sometimes Astro fun has to take a back seat...but I am still planning some more videos featuring the Bresser, so they'll be published soon (hopefully)! Lol! Hope you have a lovely day and best wishes from a cloud covered Scotland! ;)
