Nothing wrong with living simple. Too many folks are slaves to their possessions. If you can be happy with less it saves a great deal of needless stress. Thanks for giving us a window into the expat life!. I'm 46 and been saving for early retirement at 55. Fortunately Philippines makes that possible without hitting the Powerball lottery!

It’s pretty small for a big guy like you with a girlfriend living with you! You have beautiful plants outside thanks to your gf whose got a green thumb! Disasters in the islands or natural calamities are prevalent in a volcanic island like the Philippines. The Filipinos are used to these calamities and always lean on God for support! So if your spending your life in that beautiful island live like them as you’re doing now and be resilient like them as well! Be happy! God bless!👍👏👏👏

Hello there... I’ve just recently chanced on your channel and vlogs... first I would like to congratulate you on your renewed life and lifestyle. It’s just amazing when we discover that it really doesn’t take much to be content and reasonably happy. I am Filipino by birth and living in California. I did live the first 25 years of my life in the P.I. so I get it. You’ve adjusted well and adapted enough to live a local lifestyle. Cavite is a great location, close to metromanila, although personally I believe that all cities anywhere in the world are the same... overpriced, overcrowded, and generally not a very forgiving place. Best of luck to you friend, and may you always find that sunshine.

Catching up on some of your older vids. I'd usually visit for about a month each time, but for jungle warfare training. A cot or hole in the ground were all that we had, but learned to make the tiny space pretty comfy during the stay. I would look for a nice apartment with a good bathroom and shower, with a small kitchen and fridge. With the black/brown outs that tend to happen, I would splurge for an emergency solar generator for some LED lights and keep the fridge running. Maybe a laptop as well. Thanks for the show.

I just have one suggestion, I try to maximize the space in my yacht, and being ex Navy I am partial to hammocks. I would set up some anchor points inside your house to set up a Hennesey Hammock. They are great because they keep the mosquitoes off you, they are super comfortable, cooling and you end up sleeping diagonally so great back support, you have your back and head supported by at least 10 degrees up, which is great for breathing, blood pressue, and waking refreshed and when finished it folds right up on the wall. They are quite interesting to get in, what you do is enter from a slit in the bottom and it closes up with a velcro seal and no bugs ever. You should google it. Perhaps your kiddies might like to try. You can set it up in your kitchen, or lounge, just about anywhere you can imagine.

Pretty nice for the price you're paying! I'd only add a heater myself because I'm a sucker for warm showers. Other than that, the fact you're spending like 10 times less than most newbies it's a too good thing to pass it up. I've been less comfortable than I'd be in your place, for double what you're paying.

Whew!! Bright, bright blue!! My place is only 600 sq. ft, but seems quite large compared to yours? I too, like to keep things organized. Currently, my New Year's resolution is going through old stuff that needs to be tossed, saved or donated, which isn't as easy as it sounds. One thing I know I wouldn't like is the open shower right by the toilet in the bathroom. I prefer enclosed shower, so there isn't water everywhere that will need to be wiped down.
