I always find the comments on these stories interesting. People are unaware that these stories, in spite of the Western sounding names, are often Chinese in origin and generally, they are culturally accurate. (A big clue is inaccurate pronoun use.) Women there typically have a hard time being granted divorces- even in cases like this one of cheating and physical abuse. Men cheating and being abusive is expected and excused; even with visible marks from physical abuse standing in front of a judge, women will usually not be granted divorce- ESPECIALLY if they are the one petitioning and not the man.

It was not uncommon, and it happened a lot in the 1950s to 1970s. Currently, it happens often in Korea, some parts of the U.S., Belgium, Japan, Mexico, and maybe Canadian, unsure of that last one, but the others it still happens. It's more common now for males than females, in most countries, that this happens.

Sorry, but the moment the ML had abused the FL over the bento box, i would have called the cops. If she's dumb enough to stay until he slammed her against the wall, she should have called the cops again. Get copies of those reports and add that to the evidence for the divorce. This FL stayed too long. She was irritatingly too comproming, calm, timid, and a doormat. I would have fought back in so many ways, including matching black eyes on that cheating couple to match their matching jewelry. I would make him rue the day he married me and the mistress for crossing me! After losing the baby, she should have lost her patience and love for the schmuck. I can't tell what was more disgusting. The cheating couple or his cowardly, enabling circle of cronies/friends! What a bunch of scumbags! Thats how abusive relationships work. They literally break down the victim and brainwash them into thinking all of the abude is their fault and that they deserve it. Breaking away from an abusive relationship isnt easy, especially if you have no support system like the MC in this story and live in a culture where women are already looked down on like the asian culture many of this stories take place in. Divorce in these countries is not like in America and a woman is often looked down on and always considered to be the bad guy for wanting a divorce and used goods, even if the relationship is abusive. Women are not worth more than men in these cultures which adds that extra layer of difficulty when trying to leave an abusive relationship

Not in all countries police will react to domestic abuse. In some cultures it is awaited, that husband will be abusive and cheating. If anything will happen in the family, it will always be wife's fault. So, if she managed to get out in such culture...it is huge.

He had an affair, and then instead of letting it go, simply admitting his mistakes and leaving her in peace, he made his own life more tragic and became an amputee and later committed suicide. What is crazy is the fact the lover said that she glad he passed away. To be honest, I personally wish they didn’t use suicide at the end because that’s a really tough topic for some people.

What I always see in love diary is female first love her husband so much n then turned into someone inhuman. Who could not show a little empathy for a person who died.
