I love dim sum too. Originally dim sum is traditional Chinese meal of small dishes from Hong Kong.. It is originated a Cantonese cuisine and Hong Kong people like to have dim sum for breakfast and the most famous phase is 一盅兩件 which translates literally as ‘one pot of tea with two pieces of dim sum’.. so the pot of tea is means hot Chinese tea.. so that’s why Hong Kong people will prefer to have hot tea with their dim sum.

To get the real taste of the Dim Sum, try taking as it is without dipping in any sauce. That’ll allow you to differentiate the taste of each Dim Sum shop. Suggest to avoid drinking any Chinese tea ( served in glasses ) whether hot or iced unless you bring your own Chinese Tea Leaves to make your own tea. Most shops will provide you the teapot, hot water and cups if you said you have your own tea leaves.

They will serve it to your table. The deep fried har gao is salad prawn dim sum (waiter said when he served it), that's why it tastes sweet. Some ppl peel off the outer skin / layer of the bao as it might have been exposed for some time before steaming. You might also like to try out this restaurant in SS2 (yes, near your favourite durian place), it's called Restoran Loong Seng Dim Sum. Their dim sum, cs bao and special porridge is really good.
