I’m surprised Key didn’t show up sooner. As soon as my Mom or I turned on the kitchen light, our Golden Retriever made a mad dash to see what we were doing. Key sure was doing a lot of paw stomps. My family's traditional birthday cake is a dark chocolate cake, sliced into thin layers (as many as 8), filled and frosted with coffee whipped cream (flavoured by dissolving instant coffee powder in a cupful of unwhipped cream, and adding it to the rest of the creeam before whipping it all), and chopped pecans. We've had this cake for almost every birthday, for more than 50 years.

I love making jam, scraping it out of the pain it tastes like those chewy fruit rollup sweets! I make raspberry with lemon juice, strawberry and blackcurrant with cinnamon, the blackcurrants I grew myself.

My besty in elementary school's mother had us help her make a Swiss roll. She baked it without the parchment. She put the hot roll on a flour sack and put the filling on the cake and roll it up. She rolled her roll the long way. Good job on the beater Key.
