One thing that has always bothered me about Percy is that he's a saddle tank, yet C.R. Dalby made his tank look like a barrel that made Percy look entombed within it. Peter Edwards and Clive Spong fixed that for their illustrations, but sadly the barrel design was carried over into the television series.

Percey was one of my favorite characters back in the day and to this day still is to be honest. It helps that he is green but his personality in the original stop motion series was perfect and one I can still relate to this day. With ALL that said, I love the rework, I would hope he keeps the bunker but this design makes him look....FULLER...like he can be a work hours but all if done up properly can pull passengers. Almost like a mix traffic tank engine if such a thing existed.

My ideal Percy is also Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0ST ( specifically no. 750 ). I always hated that Percy's canonical basis is an Avonside engine. First off , it's too small. This would mean engines like Edward or Thomas tower over him. Second , it would also make Percy a Great Western engine ( let's say Percy's basis is Cardiff Railway No.5. The Cardiff Railway was absorbed into the GWR by 1923 ) ; and I don't want him to have a similar dynamic as Duck and Oliver.

The only thing I disagree with this ideal isn't even your take on Percy at all, your ideal take works. 0:20 It's about saying his true character in canon being "just another Thomas", that's like calling Toby a "Brown Edward" just because they're both wise old timers and Henry a "Green Gordon" just because they're both big rude arrogant engines. There aren't the same character, Percy is not a "Green Thomas Clone" just because they're both cheeky small tank engines, there are key subtle differences in their characters.

My head canon is that Percy would be a female character named “Perci” and she is basically a foil to Thomas while still being a protagonist. Also Perci is considered to be daring which is why she has an accident-prone character trait from her daring personality Aside from her daring and sometimes risky personality, Perci is very loyal to her friends even as far as putting herself in danger for the sake of her friends (as she is almost basically Rainbow Dash but as a saddle tank engine) Also Perci would be the very first female character and female steam engine character in my head canon to give some gender balance.

I’m starting to wish that Percy was female instead of male but still have the same uni gender look with obviously no eyelashes, no makeup, and no freckles. Everything else about Percy’s character should remain 100% the same. The reason why I say this is because I believe that if Percy was female then henry would have never have been written off in bwba because like Gordon Henry’s too popular and since Henry would be the 4th boy instead of the 5th, then they could have been able to keep him. The railway series and the classic series would be basically identical with the minor difference being Percy’s gender and Percy would remain the same lovable green caterpillar with red stripes that we all know and love Percy for.
