A show about two narrow-gauge engines set in South Africa and a wide scope for adventures is such a novel idea you presented. Since you didn't say about the names for the engines, I would like to call the saddle tank Sandy (after that speeder from All Engines Go), and the garratt Gideon (after the legendary character in the Hebrew and Christian Bibles, as well as Gideon Brand van Zyl, who served as South Africa's Governor-General from 1946 to 1951). One final note, there is a true story about a baboon named Jack who helped a double-amputee signaler in South Africa in the 1880s. Maybe you could integrate that into that show? Rest in peace Britt, you made our childhood gleam like Thomas' paintwork.

What's the most interesting topic is the Down The Mine Pilot film that was filmed in 1983 and seeing the scene of Pilot Thomas made from Britt I got into making my own replica for Project 5383 Part 3 but if I were to ask you if the Down The Mine Pilot would come out? I would think you'd say I wouldn't think so, I'd look at The American 8f's channel to find it done in Trainz.

Lovely tribute! Funny enough, I've been on-off working on my own talking train show I call: The Amwell County Railroad. It follows a large number of characters that starts off with 5 characters in the 1st story: a Ten-Wheeler intended to be from the original railroad, a Prairie, an unstreamlined New York Central J3 Hudson, a New York Central 0-6-0 Switcher and an EMD F3 that makes a cameo but is intended to be explored in the second episode in terms of continuity. The setting is intended to be more like an alternate East Coast area that was a shortline until the closure of the original railroad and it was used for traffic until it was abandoned and later put up for sale, which is when a preservation group had stepped in timeline-wise, preserving everything that had made it to then minus track beyond the current terminus. I've planned out so much for it and still need to do a lot but in terms of actual stories probably one or three online that people can read online (not comfortable sharing what isn't finished at the moment, especially since I don't have any models for the locomotives I need for the story).

I'd see it like Ivor the Engine. A Small Railway in the UK Countryside serving a few towns with a cast of tank engines and small tender engines. Think an Atlantic as the Big Express Engine, A Prarie Tank for fast freight. A GWR 4700 2-8-0t for heavy goods, and a mix of Hunslet and Avonside Industrial tanks as shunters and light freight/commuter work. A cast of about 9 or so engines. The Atlantic Tender Engine, a Mogul, a pair of Hunslet Fitzwilliams, the 2-8-0t, A Peckett W4 0-4-0, A 4-4-0, an 0-6-0 tender engine, and an Adriatic tank, with the series gaining 1-2 new characters every season, to a total of 14. The First Season adding an LNER V3 2-6-2t and a Stanier Mogul. The Second Season introduces a GWR 5700 Pannier Tank. The Third Season adds a Standard 4 tank and an LBSCR A1x Terrier. With the Fifth Season introducing a New Tender Engine in the line's first 4-6-0 in a Thompson B1. With the Sixth Season about fighting the line's closure and Preservation. And the Seventh and most likely Final Season Introducing a Diesel Character and how the engines feel about diesels.

A lovely tribute. Honestly I may expand upon this idea of yours, mostly because it combines two of my favorite things- railways and foreign cultures (well, foreign to me since I'm American). I could see it as a show aimed at a slightly older audience too, arguably like Tugs.
