In November while I was in the hospital for a renal artery dissection and kidney infarction, I had an iliac artery dissection. This video is about my iliac dissection and what we're doing to manage it with my Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (VEDS).

Thank you Katie. As someone who has vEDS, it’s is deeply helpful to hear your experiences and knowledge. I understand your anger. I myself have for years turned my anger inward in the form of guilt. Torturing myself with the idea that if I had or had not done certain behaviors, such eaten more protein or taken certain vitamins or you name it, I wouldn’t have vEds or at the very least it wouldn’t have worsened. Mostly illogical but still it persists. I am grateful for your openness with sharing your struggle. Having said that, Take care of yourself and take breaks from sharing when you need to. My best to you.

The acute and chronic stress caused by VEDS must be exhausting (I have hEDS), I send you a gentle hug and I want to thank you for raising the awareness on Ehlers-Danlos syndrome risks, particularly in case of the vascular type. It's good to know that pain management is essential because of the risk of increased blood pressure otherwise. I hope that science advances in this topic and that there would be a gene therapy soon for VEDS like it's the case for other mutations.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! It is priceless for others who have similar conditions, but also so important to help raise awareness for people outside of the community. You're awesome, Katie ❤
