That’s cuz the real fans know that Ben IS Evanescence, Fallen era Evanescence. He made the band what it was. Don’t get me wrong, Amy’s voice is amazing, but the overall “feel” of the band was Ben’s. It shows through with his WATF work. The “Fallen” era was the Ben era and Evanescence hasn’t been the same ever since nor have they had the same success since. The real ones know that’s why WATF is essentially Fallen era evanescence - it’s Ben. Even though the rest of that band was former Evanescence members too…it’s still Ben.

I’ve been a fan of Evanescence and Amy for so long, but recently I’ve noticed there’s a toxicity there with her actions. Her voice isn’t holding the way it used to, it’s getting too “whiney” and there’s not the same emotional attachment to the songs she’s putting out since Fallen. Her songwriting output is desperate to be rock, but her vocal talents and songwriting abilities don’t suit that persona. She’s made some beautiful songs after Fallen (lithium, lost in paradise, good enough, far from heaven to name a few), but these shouldn’t be considered Evanescence because they sound better with just herself and a piano

I think with Ev now coming to what appears to be an end with the news Amy has gone indie and the financial implications that has, it is now obvious Amy could never recapture the magic that was Evanescence when they had Ben Moody and David Hodges as part of the set up. This, until the final concerts, were Ev's encore song and yet it was Ben's. Evanescence was always defined by this song and without Ben they would have been nothing. Perhaps, one day, they can do something musically together again but Amy had a huge talent for burning bridges with other artists and now her record label. No on will want to touch her. The band, WaTF, do not sound like Ev, they sound like the Fallen album (a subtle difference) but the clue was in the name!! Have you ever heard Ben's solo albums? Certainly not pop. Evanescence are finished. All I said in my original post is coming to fruition with Amy's big music news this week being Amy Lee music not Evanescence music. With the court proceedings and how that turned out it is more than likely all contracts in regards to band members have been nullified. Amy Lee will now be Evanescence's only member as she will own the name. She will need MASSIVE financial resources to support a band. Remember Metallica only did this a couple of years ago and they have enough money to run a country, Amy does not!! Another publisher will go nowhere near Amy after this so she is extremely limited in the musical output with no label, publisher, distributor and all those involve, especially cost of touring. Amy will stay as an indie solo artist, something I truly believe she always wanted to be. There have been many insinuations that her image in Ev was never truly her over the years and she was uncomfortable with the whole goth side of things. I will honestly be surprised if Ev ever make another album and even then it will be years between each album (more so than now) due to less financial resources. I firmly believe Evanescence was Amy, Ben and Dave. Everything after was simply Amy Lee and leading to this inevitable point we are today. Origin and Fallen are far far superior than anything that has been written since. Issues such as mental health, society, isolation and suicide being themed in the music. The Open Door and self-titled were songs about Amy, Amy and more Amy. This is why The Fallen was such a successful album, it connected with many people on differing aspects. Time has proven that Amy was not the one responsible, or at least not by herself. She was incapable as subsequent albums proved.
