Did you grow up dreaming of making video games but you don't think you can do it? I promise that with hard work (and the right jumping off point) you can become the indie game developer you always wanted to be! In this semi- tutorial and semi- biographical video I'm going to explain how I went from concept art and self-doubt to a full fledged indie gamedev! You'll learn tips and tricks I learned along the way and hopefully learn from my mistakes as well! This video outlines how I learned the basics of Blender 3D modeling software, experimented with Unreal Engine, and ultimately ended up making games with Unity 3D and Playmaker! I also touch on starting a game studio, creating a successfully funded Kickstarter, and how to keep yourself motivated. Losing motivation is one of the biggest issues in game development! Hopefully this will touch on the basics of making video games and get you ready to jump into making your dream game today!
Like and subscribe to keep pushing forward in YOUR gamedev journey and also join my Discord server! I'd love to see what you're working on!

Same here. Self taught. KZbin taught. Fuck a schoool. There’s ALOT they don’t teach you and just want money. I started with music then games then animations the video editing and now I’m combing all into my game and devlogs :)

This is so relatable. The team struggles is something that exists on every first project and like you said, these people are not evil. It's hard to come to terms with that when the passion for your game is burning. One issue I had with my programmer was how the code base became impossible to work on because of how it was built at the start. I don't know if that was the case for your programmer but that can lead to very slow progress and programmer moral just crashing. You seem to be super motivated and that's awesome to see, you don't always need other people when you start but after this project I would recommend giving it another shot! You just need to pick the right people that have the same goal alignment as you.

I’ve noticed this in my own friend group with the various projects we work on, each of us to an extent sometimes also overestimate what we can do and then end up disappointed when it turns out what we wanted to do was actually more complex than we initially thought. It’s like the saying “eyes bigger than the belly” we get too hyped up about too many ideas that we hardly finish any of them.

I can relate to the crappy computer 😭I was learning blender a few months ago and got burned out. This month I finished my first 2d game but I eventually want to get into 3d games. And like you I don't code but love the art side. For now I think I will stick to 2d for a bit and slowly work on practicing my 3d before I try making a 3d game. For the longest time I felt like I couldn't make a game by myself until I found the no code softwares but I feel like I don't have enough experience to team up with someone. But maybe I can make a cool game by myself. I will have to look into playmaker. Really inspiring video!

If anything blender at the start/end should be a breeze, I do bunch of things in Google slides so I have patients, unless blender has a different way of growing shapes.
