First congrats! I flew one way to San Diego 1.5 years ago and picked mine up to drive it back home in Nor Cal. What a trip, I watched this video then clicked to watch your fly and sign video and noticed you had the same waffle weave shirt, then I look at myself and I'm wearing the same thing, team OLD NAVY!

Congrats on the new car. I got mine in championship white as well. I was very close to getting the Grey but it felt wrong if I did. Felt like I needed to keep it classic with championship white and I’m actually really glad I did. I love it more and more each day.

Congrats on the new car! I have the same color 2024 model year and also came from a 2017 (black). I feel the same way as you about the car so far, I much prefer the looks of the FL5 over the FK8 (getting old? lol) and also finds it drives very similarly which isn’t surprising considering it uses similar components. My FL5 shifter is smoother compared to my FK8, but that car was purchased used and the FL5 new so that could be a factor. I think the center console storage and the suspension are the only downgrades. I found the FK8 in sport mode pretty perfect balance for the roads in my area, comfort or really any mode in the FL5 is ok when you’re just cruising, but I find it ramps up the damping stiffness when you drive the car hard which I didn’t notice in the FK8 and this doesn’t work well for traction when driving the car hard on roads that aren’t perfectly smooth. I have the Integra Type S damping module to put in which I hear is set up more similarly to the FK8. Enjoy the ride!

One thing I'd maybe reconsider is getting a protective matt from someone like tux. I definitely regretted not doing it, not because my floors would get dirty. I unknowingly would press my shoes against the carpet on the side eventually tearing through it. Might just be a me problem
@paulkim_5 күн бұрын
yeah ill definitely consider it though my plan is to regularly vacuum the stock mats and avoid bringing in dirty shoes whenever possible

Like Paul, I also sold my FK8 and got a FL5. I'm very pleased with the decision and love both cars. I highly recommend paint protection film on the front to prevent rock chips and because Honda's paint is not the best quality. Enjoy!

Honda choose to pump in that fake engine noise because the exhaust system has to be that quiet for homologation reasons. The problem is if you drive the car on track and a noisy car is beside you you are not able to hear your own engine anymore to know when to shift up. Its a handy addition to the visual cluster LEDs if you are focused. Thankfully you can switch it off if you dont need or like it. Btw the FL5 fuel tank size is 47l the FK8 was 46l. So FL5 got a slightly bit more.

What made you upgrade to the new gen type R? Also did you consider any other car either within a similar price/performance range?
@paulkim_6 күн бұрын
great question - honestly I've only owned Honda's since I got my drivers license and have only had positive experiences so far, especially the Type R. that and the fact that Honda may discontinue ICE manual sports cars made it a no brainer

Fl5 aka the baby 911. I say this because handling and the manual feeling is amazing like porsche. And you can seat 4 people like the Gamera 😅

I got mine under MSRP in Texas. Don’t be afraid to talk to dealers selling them above MSRP. A lot of them still have it above but just talk to them and tell them you’re not going to pay above. Most of them will come down.

@paulkim_6 күн бұрын
good luck with lowering - I'm going to keep the ride height stock for now to preserve the bumper as much as possible, plus theres no guarantee that lowering the car improves the overall performance

Great video. I am an aspiring FL5 owner who currently owns an FK8. Will look to make the jump to FL5 when (if) prices come down a bit. These cars are incredibly fun to drive however I often ask myself is an FL5 really that much of an upgrade as far as performance and/or driving experience. Now with that being said, I think the aesthetic update and technological one (wireless CarPlay/charging, better infotainment, etc) is worth it alone. I would be curious, once you actually drive the FL5 hard, to hear your feedback vs FK8. Please report back
@paulkim_6 күн бұрын
fair points, only way to truly find out is to drive one yourself before upgrading
@mattd7814Күн бұрын
I’ve had both. The drive isn’t much different, the only way to justify the upgrade would be for other reasons (prefer the looks, newer car, warranty, better interior/technology etc.)
@importraceramimportraceam175621 сағат бұрын
@ That is exactly what I was assuming. Performance/driving experience is a negligible difference. If an FL5 did 7:43 around nurinburgin I can’t imagine the FK8 was much (if any) slower. I would be upgrading for aesthetic and tech purposes. Not to mention a new vehicle with less miles is always a plus
