I know firsthand the impact of exposure to nature on the mind and
growth of a young person. My parents immersed me in nature and taught
me that nature was a place for inspiration, for love, and for
learning. And now as a parent, I have had the opportunity to share
this with my own children.
In 2022, I became the proud co-founder of a nonprofit, the Wild Wonder
Foundation (www.wildwonder.org), which is dedicated to encouraging nature
connection and conservation through attention, curiosity, art,
science, and community.
We strive to make nature and nature journaling accessible to everyone
by sponsoring the annual Wild Wonder Nature Journaling Conference (www.wildwonder.org/wild-wonde...) as
well as other free and low-cost events, educational workshops, field
trips, teacher trainings, retreats, exhibits, grants, and other
activities and projects in support of our mission. We hold events both
online and in person at various locations in the United States and
abroad. Our projects are supported by hundreds of volunteer hours as
well as donations from individuals and foundations.
We are committed to inclusiveness, respect, and equal opportunity for
everyone as we nurture and celebrate a diverse, global community of
nature journalers. We strive to make events and resources free and/or
low cost, and we offer hundreds of event scholarships each year for
those who face economic barriers, underrepresentation, and/or historic
marginalization.
