Unfortunately, there happens to be a myth about Apollo and a flute. Basicly Athena made the flute, but was made fun of, so she put a curse on the flute and threw it onto Earth. This is where some poor dude picks up the flute and begins to play it. The flute has goddess breath in it, so it sounded pretty good. Then Apollo was like, "You think that flute playing is good?" So they had a contest, and were evenly skilled. Apollo, who chose a lyre, decided to turn it into a play-while-singing contest. Obviously the flute-player lost and was therefore died. THE END.

I remember seeing this video and wanting to join band and play flute just because of Jaiden. Our band director had us name our instruments and I named my flute Jaiden. Today is our first preformance! UPDATE!!!! I just got 1st chair today! (For those who don't know, that means I'm the best player in my class) UPDATE 2!!! Yesterday was my first competition. We preformed on a fancy stage at a university and did awesome. I got to spent the rest of the school day at urban air with my best friends.

We had someone in my High School that was like that and she was really really good and she got sent to a music college to continue. FOR FREE!! She was that good!!!! I was that kid in my school. I wasn't a short person per se, but everyone's too short for the bass when you're in 5th grade. It helped that I had a stand to rest it on so I didn't have to hold it up. The really funny part was when the school initially said I would have to play something else because they didn't have a bass, only to learn that I had brought my own with me. (Thanks grandpa)

One time in band I started figuring out how to play the Mii Channel theme on my trumpet, and once other classmates noticed and joined in it eventually spiraled into the band director making it a song we would play at one of our concerts. Good times.

My instrument experiences: 4 years old- I was an incredible tambourine player at a small musical group with mums and their kids 6 years old- My ears bled from all the recorder lessons I had. 10-12 years old- ace trumpet player. We had to pick from voilin, trumpet and flute, There was only two girls in a room of boys doing the trumpet. I actually really enjoyed it and even played at the royal albert hall in london once. 12 years old- Got bored of trumpet and moved onto the double bass! I pretended my music lessons were half an hour early than usual so I could skip religious studies and read in the library for ages. I got caught after like 5 months of doing this lol 13- Piano, ukulele, drums, bass gitaur. ( My music teacher was very keen on us learning instruments lol)

I play the recorder and let me tell you, it is one of the easiest instruments to learn. You literally just blow into it softly and cover holes to make sounds.

We also had to learn recorders. During 6th and 7th grade you where not given an option for art, you where forced to do Chorus, band, or music appreciation. I feel bad for the students who don't want to do something musically inclined, but the Chorus teacher had completely ruined Chorus for me. After sixth grade I tried to do music appreciation, my mom even put in a special request for me not to be in Chorus. I get my schedule, and I'm stuck in Chorus again.

That "studying for test just to forget it immediately afterwards" hits close to home. We were 32 in our class and had a new maths teacher because our previous one got new classes to teach so she could no longer keep up with us as well. So anyway, up until the new teacher came, we were at worst passing with 4s. Now that we had a new teacher, 28 of us failed the grade. The next year we got another new teacher. :)

Dude i played the piano for 8 years too (stopped taking lessons about a year ago) and had the exact same routine of learn song, play song, learn new song, forget old song. Currently I just play songs I like from games or anime but I use synthesia instead of sheet music, it works better for me.

the thing about learning piano is to learn how to learn; because anyone with enough focus and determination can learn a piece of music, but someone who was taught by a good teacher can learn it faster and more efficiently

I also had to learn recorder but I pretty much immediately forgot it after 3rd grade was over. Pretty much the rest of my music class I was forced to take in elementary school was watching sound of music and fantasia every year. Which was kinda awkward cause my music teacher had to explain the ending of sound of music to us and we were like kindergarten-5th graders so we had definitely not learned that. We also watched some movies that taught us about music history or movies where they just make some animation then put some classical song over it like fantasia. Also repeatedly doing the do re mi thing and listening to random songs on some cd my music teacher had. Oh and also some song that teaches you which finger is which. I signed up for choir in 6th grade but when I got my class list choir wasn’t on it so I thought I wasn’t good enough in the little audition they had me do. Or I thought they might have had to many people but no my school just forgot I signed up for it. So halfway through the year I reminded them and they shoved me into choir class halfway through. So that wasn’t very useful. Also the choir class was actually lacking students and only had like one male. So no it was not an issue of having to many students. I also missed all the concerts cause my grandpa was the only one with a car and he always ended up being busy so I didn’t sign up for it again.

I remember in my 4th and 5th-grade years, we had this thing in my music class called "Recorder Karate". I don't know how common it is, but it's basically playing different songs on the recorder and winning a belt every time you mastered a song. The belts were noting more than colored string we put at the ends of our recorders or case zippers, but I had fun with it.

I used to play the trumpet in high school. Certain large instruments or particularly unique instruments(we had some weird percussion instruments) were supplied by the school. You could supply your own instruments if you wanted. I remember learning the recorder and piano when i was younger though. My school supplied everything for that. We actually had a pretty decent music department and the band instructor also could teach any instrument though private lessons were extra. It was a private school so I think that helped a bit.

Gosh, this reminds me of a time in 6th grade when my class was going to music class. My teacher was kinda "meh" about everything, until he gave us the opportunity to pick our instruments- Holy smokes and it just started a whole new age. Me and most of my friends chose the clarinet, and most of the other girls chose woodwind instruments, on the other hand, most of the boys had picked brass. different types of instruments played on separate days, while the other half was in the backrooms. (The teacher gave us computers to work on but we just played games instead.) while the woodwinds were stuck doing the friggin a b c's, and the BRASS started doing some really cool songs. Jaiden’s flute experience when picking instruments is similar to mine back in sixth grade. I was asked to play a f cord without literally any knowledge or experience. I then played the flute for grades 7 and 8 but my breathing was so bad I could barely hold a note and I’m still surprised 5/6ish years later (last year of high school) that I passed that part of music class. Cuz I sucked butt.

my school made us learn piano while i was already taking private lessons they made us share keyboards, they sharpied letter names directly on the keys, we never even glanced in the direction of sheet music, and the whole time i felt like a med student watching grey's anatomy.

Flute is so tiring though! It hurts my arms still to this day and I did it in 5th grade. It was really fun tho-! I love playing piano also! I definitely suggest (to someone who doesn’t play a instrument) it’s so fun and you never know, maybe you want to play your favorite song or anything! ❤️

In band at school, I used to play the flute really well. Then there was a test for percussion. An example of a percussion instrument is the snare drum. Im glad I tried out for percussion because I didnt need to have 3 lungs to play the other instruments. So... yeah.

I agree with you and the classical because I hated the fact that I had no control of what I wanted to learn. But then I decided to ask if I could play mire pop songs and that was the best decision I ever made.

My teacher said the same thing about the flute and I had a very similar reaction. But then my grandma and brother told me I was gonna get bullied because it was a girl instrument, and I was dealing with a lot of bullying as it is so I gave up sadly

we started band in fifth grade and i literally didn’t know ANY of the instrument names at that time. but i didn’t want to be the one kid that didn’t do band and everyone said it was fun…. so here i am playing the alto saxophone! i remember all the girls in my class being shocked when they learned what i chose because i swear everyone thought that all the girls would play the clarinet XD

I hated taking recorder in music in third grade. You couldn't tell who was messing up until you played a solo. I remember playing hot crossed buns once for a solo because I wanted to and the teacher told me some of my notes were off. I never practiced because it was an annoying instrument. I did end up playing trumpet all throughout the rest of my school years out of choice and loved it. I did remember a lot of people quit the trumpet.

I actually play the piano too, and I can agree that taking classical music all the time is kinda boring. But at the end u will learn what these songs let u learn. My brother is a step up ahead of me and if I give him a song piece in 15 mins he will know the main hand/ (right hand). I also wish i could be like him when i move a step closer..

Thats how i felt Jaiden, i basiclly had to play songs that i dont want to play. Later on i just started searching up random game songs and started blasting it on the piano lol. THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS ME

I had this sub teacher in my grade 8 class many years ago and he brought his violin and played a few songs on it. He let some students try it out and when I went up he looked at me and said, "You've played the violin before haven't you" I'm poor so I didn't have any experience with any instruments except a guitar and he looked at me shocked. He told me I should pick it up since I had natural talent. I'm 22 now and still wonder if I should take lessons along with piano lessons lol
