Welcome back, friends. In today's video, I have resurrected an interview I did with Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo back in 2006. I interviewed him for my radio show as Yo La Tengo was about to make its first appearance in Omaha.
Even though I was expressly forbidden from doing any sort of "live" interview on my show, I bent the rules a bit when given the opportunity to speak to someone like this.
Yo La Tengo's newest album, This Stupid World, was just released. It is AMAZING!

Cool interview. Ira seems like a very smart guy. I found that I Am Not Afraid of You album on cd at the thrift store years ago and really like it. This reminds me I need to listen to their new album.

The new album is great. Better than 'I Am Not Afraid...' for sure. Though I like that album, too.

Wow…super cool that 1) you have a long running radio show and 2) that you interviewed Ira. I thought you did a great job. I don’t think he’s always the easiest person to interview. You asked just the right questions for a 10 minute segment. Curious to tune into your radio show sometime too. Thanks for sharing all of that. You digging their new album?

Thanks! Yeah, I get that feeling about interviewing Ira, as well. I met him in person a week later at the show. I told him I was the guy who interviewed him the week before. He totally did not give a sh!t. Please give my show a listen. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. RE: New Yo La Tengo...I love it! Feels kinda reminiscent of the Painful/ElectroPura period. That's my favorite stuff of theirs.

Late to the party in watching this, but glad I did. I’ve been a YLT fan since the early 90’s & catch them live whenever they tour Aus. Itra sounds like a pretty easy going dude. Cheers….Ben
