Probably there’s something now right again on apples servers. I had a problem on 3 iPhones and Macs that they ask for the Apple-ID verification. Then they wanted the password/code from an other of my devices. I typed the correct in and it only says „there’s an unknown error. Do you want to reset all encrypted data?“ And now it finally works without showing that error. Now it’s a good week start

I used (and filmed KZbin videos) with an iPhone 6s all the way up until I would say about a month ago, so I used it all the way until February 2023. It was a great phone I got plenty of use out of, including doing my own screen, and the battery replacement over the summer of 2022. Battery was from I fix it, and replacement screen came off of an old iCloud locked 6S that was 20 bucks off of eBay. (Steal imo for the parts) I have now upgraded to the iPhone SE third generation, because it still has a home button, and it has the same exact form factor and button layout as my old 6S. Hoping it will serve me just as well as my old 6S dead.

The old versions of iOS dont work with the new secuity Apple has so I couldnt sign in on an older ipod touch until an apple service member told me about the password+secuity code thing. Apple is crazy. Sucks the old phones wont activate anymore its why I collect ipods now.

airplane mode is why it wont activate it needs to call the server to activate. try maybe turning on the phone only and not connect to the internet so i think it is high time you burn a phone and try flashing to new ios to see if it will activate.

maybe activation works under iTunes since you can do that. If you choose to connect to iTunes instead of connecting to a Wi-Fi it'll activate using iTunes and that may be the key.

I have a rose gold 6s on 9.3.3, when I got it it was at the hello screen and showed the activation error, but than I pressed try again 2 times and by a miracle it freaking activated. It’s carrier locked so I think that’s why it did that. I’m lucky to have that since I caught it on eBay on time, it was only 54$ and even came with the box. The seller had no idea how rare it was lol.

I think it’s because Apple used to deliberately slow down old devices on ios9 and after they lost the court case they tend to make it difficult to activate devices on ios9. I wonder what specific version do you have on your iPhone. They say it’s 9.0-9.2.1 on the 6S series that can’t activate.
