The problem I’m finding is that all the shreds start to sound the same, and there’s really no way for any of these guitarists to shine. None of them sound like they have their own style - they can just play fast. Still sounds great. Not knocking the skill, just no feel.

I feel u man! I feel with this sort of backing it doesn’t offer heaps of room for feel, especially being a shred competition, however, I do agree that a lot modern guitar is pretty drenched in more technical guitarists these days.
