Recently had the same thing happen on my 2016 Rubicon …. 70-mph on I5 in 2 WD and boom !! 100plus miles away from home, I had just purchased the JK on a Monday and that Friday is when the TC front blew apart. I did some research and have decided to go with the Atlas and new drivelines from Adams. The JK is lifted with 37’s …… the TC will be another month before it’s ready to ship, then I’ll have to get measurements for the new drivelines to be made ….. hoping I’ll have it back by March 😜.

I was going to go with an Atlas as well but it was a 6 month lead time. I can always re sell my rubi case later on if I want to go Atlas

This happened to me yesterday. So many pieces went up into the chain and there was many loud bangs in my jeep but it was because it was in 4WD 😅

Exact thing happened to me 3 years ago, except I was 14 hour drive from home. Luckily there was a good 4x4 shop nearby and they had it taken care of in two weeks. Had the opportunity to upgrade to a Rubicon tcase and they also had to replace front and rear driveshafts so keep that in mind when you change it out. I also had a big hole in the underbody which sucked. Good luck and I know how it feels driving 80 down the road and it explodes!

Yeah for sure. Depending on wait times I’m probably going to get a non rubicon case for now and go ahead and order an atlas just to get it back on the road.

I'm kinda guessing you were in 2wd on the interstate but was it in 4wd? I've seen them come apart at high speed in 4wd ... which is why most trucks have some sort of warning that says you shouldn't exceed 40mph in 4wd.

I think it was my front drive shaft out of balance that did it
