I’ve been fascinated with Jerry’s tone since the first time I seen the dead in 88. I’m not a guitar player but I love guitars.especially Jerry’s Irwin’s. Your set up, sound and playing is “DEAD” on! Amazing brother I could listen to it all night...

I am curious to know about the "stereo cable" near the toggle switches on the front of your guitar - specifically, why is it positioned where it is, as opposed to being on the side of the guitar near the other cable? Is it to prevent impedance problems or buzzing - or is it preferable to have it wired close to the switches, or ...? Aesthetically, (were this my guitar) I would prefer a more "streamlined" look - with the cables originating from the bottom side right - so I figure there must be a logical reason to separate the two cables?
@DeadHeadDan3 жыл бұрын
No, the is from hole where a tone knob was. Was a perfect fit for a 1/4 jack.

What is the ideal reverb range for jerry tone? I leave mine at 5 on my deluxe reverb but some people tell me that is too much, but it sounds correct...

Honestly it depends on your guitar volume, picking strength, tone knobs, preamp section.. etc there is no “correct number”

PreAmp is a Sarno Music Solutions (SMS JG Preamp) essentially a fender twin preamp section, bright switch on, bass 0, mids 5, treble 10. Preamp goes into a Mcintosh Mc250 amplifier and then into JBL K120 speakers.

Outstanding!! What pickups are those? The tone I can get closest to is his Travis Bean tone Because I have a Jazzmaster with the new factory V mod pick ups and they really come close to those Travis Bean wide single coils. Now I just have to learn how to play like Jerry did in 77.

Dondante most of the playing is on the middle pickup, dimarzio super 2 (same as the bridge) in single coil mode. My buddy routed the hole in the guitar for the middle pickup. The neck pickup is a dimarzio SDS 1.

Is that a customized PRS SE series guitar? Can you please describe in detail the guitar and mods? Obviously it is stereo. No everyone - very few in fact - have PRS Super Eagle or Super Eagle II $$$ ! Apologies,...I just found your "My Jerry Garcia Guitar Rig" video. Thank you! VERY cool. I have a Zach Meyers single cut PRS SE series. My next guitar will be a poor man's / working man's PRS SE double-cut with tremolo and similar mods to your Gargia guitar rig! A deep dive, in depth, detailed description of that guitar and mods would be much appreciated.

DudeAbides! I found the schematics of Jerry’s Tiger and Wolf online.. I used the Wolf single coil pickup and the super 2s from the tiger for the other two. I routed a hole for the middle pickup, drill through the top for the toggle switches and route a slot for a 5 way switch. I used the original volume pot hole for the OBEL (on board effects loop - a stereo jack which sends the signal to my pedals via the left channel and returns back into the guitar via the right channel.) then the signal goes out of the guitar to the amp. The guitar definitely should have a buffer in it. I also upgraded my tuners!
