In this video I give a quick overview of my new job as an Electronics Control Engineer for a hydraulics company in the UK. I'll be doing a more in depth look into the more geeky stuff I do soon like what software I use and what specific tasks I'm doing. Hope you enjoy!

This looks really neat! I was going down SWE route but can't stand staying in front of a computer all day. Really going to check out this career path as I just graduated with EE degree. Thanks for posting!

I think I’m I. Like an opposite position to you. I’m a test engineer in a hydraulics company. Previously I made test rigs for a pneumatics company. I’m interested in switching or at least increasing my knowledge in control systems to do more of that at my company. I’ve dabbled but nowhere near graduate level. How can I get to that level?

@@earlninoalajid8105 TIA Portal and EPLAN were the main ones. Plc programming and electrical drawings. Any alternative software would do as well

Well, I do not know too much about control systems, but I'm willing to learn. And I do know that hydraulic systems contain hydraulic fluid. Their a special blend to also act as a preservative on the metal and o-rings, reduce boiling point and boil off, reduce flammability, etc. I used to work on aircraft hydraulics in the Naval Air. The other concepts you mentioned, valves, pumps, the hardware, I am very familiar with. I guess I just need to work on the controls side of things. I was thinking PLCs, or something similar. Background, mostly mathematics, with a heavy emphasis in ME courses, both BS and MS. Not sure what the best option is if I choose to go into PLC. I like robotics and machine vision. An are of interest is defect detection.

The company I use to work for work drawbridge. I did the electrical schematics. And layout of the panels. I also did all the wiring for the PLCs panels. Now I’m back in school for computer science.
