// ABOUT
Hi- I’m a mental health therapist, my name is Mallory and my pronouns are (she/hers). This channel is dedicated to helping YOU improve your mental health!
We know the rates of teens struggling with suicide and self harm are rising and I want to reverse that trend! That’s why on this channel you’ll find I share a lot of self-care tips and coping strategies for major teen issues like anxiety, depression, alternatives to self harm and how to talk to parents and other grown-ups about these challenges.
My biggest hope is to increase mental health awareness and break the stigma of talking to a therapist so teens can get the help they deserve and need right here, right now.

Such a great video Mallory. I stress cried a lot as a young adult. I see it now with my grandson. It needs to be taught to kids in school.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us, I'm glad coping skills and self care helped you. I'd cry all the time as a child. No one understood why and I'd be sent to the secretary's office who at times called my mom. The reality is I'd cry whenever it was cloudy and I couldn't see the sun. I think I thought the world was ending or something. I think as we get older we improve our emotional granularity and are able to articulate our feelings to communicate better and be taken seriously.

Such a cool video, it's really great to hear your story. On your video on crying being manipulative it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on how to support someone who is a crier or emotionally expressive when you feel manipulated.

SOVANN!! So excited to see you here :) Absolutely!! I'll leave a little spoiler here that I think the word “manipulative" gets a bad rep- after all aren't we all just trying to get our needs met the best way we know how?? I'll drop the link here once I create and publish that video :)

@@mallorygrimste Thanks! I like that. It's okay to ask for what you want and need. It's also ok to be emotionally expressive. Often people that think emotions are manipulative have been taught that emotions are not ok in their family of origin. And that they are too much.
