My journey to IISER Pune

So after a long time. I realised that I had a KZbin channel and saw I had many requests to make a video on how I cracked my exams. So, I decided to make this as best as I can and edited almost 24 hours to appear only for 11 mins on your screens. It was the first time that I had made a video like this and clearly still suck at talking at the camera confidently. But still, I am happy that for once I forced myself to come out of my comfort zone and make this video. I hope you would forgive me for my bad narration and encourage me to do more videos like these by liking and subscribing to my channel. and btw don't forget to comment down your thoughts and suggestions below. If I remember it correctly I had got a score of 98 in IAT . As I am a PCM student who loved studying bio . I can't answer your last doubt. But I have seen people study only 3 subjects and still make it here

My friend gave IAT last year but got just 91 and couldn't make it to any IISER, later chose to do Bsc Hons in DU . I have to give it this year, after cancellation of board every now and then anxiety of exam runs through my body

91 is actually a pretty good score. I managed to reached here with a 95+ score. I am pretty sure he would have got offers from many IISERs. Anyways it's great to hear that he is currently doing BSc at DU. Now, about your case. It is actually hard to see you juniors suffering with the exam complications by the pandemic. Remember these are extraordinary times and everyone of your age is going through this situation and all we can do is hope that things will change for the good as fast as possible. Afaik most people that have come to IISER Pune is through the SCB stream which is through the IAT. the handful of JEE students have also taken the IAT so it's a kind of confusing to say what was the last jee adv rank. According to the website they accept anything below 10k but most of my friends have a 6k -8k jee rank.

No, It is not compulsory for PCB students to attempt math in IAT to qualify. You just have to reach the total score cutoff and they wouldn't bother about the individual subject scores unlike JEE. But generally it's a good idea to attempt both to increase our chances of clearing the cutoff. 😅

See bro. IISER Pune aane ke liye tumhe kisi coaching ya schooling karna ek necessity nahi hai. Agar tumhe yaha aane ke atyanth ichha hai aur yeh cheez karne tamanna hai toh tum kar payenge. Mein tumhe demotivate nahi try kar raha hu par tumhe yeh sach dikha raha hu ki. tum bina coaching ke padhai se bhi yeh haasil kar payenge. Vishwaas rakho aur concepts ko samjo aur unko exam mein turant apply karo. Tum se ho payega. All the best :)

Well until now there is no good book exclusively for IAT afaik. So, you can check out the various question banks for jee mains or neet. They all have a lot of similarity to the IAT questions....

Well, my suggestion is to keep your PCM concepts clear and learn a few important bio topics here and there. since Bio is usually an easy subject to score but since it is a extra subject It might be hard initially but if you keep visiting the topics you will get accustomed to the long terms. hope it helps :)

Thanks for the comment and to answer your question. IAT ranks are pretty hard to predict as they are never revealed. What can be understood is the marks - range of the students and the it's dependence on the demand for the college. For most people getting a 80+ marks got a seat offer at some IISER in the first slot and the rest in the subsequent rounds. But we can't really predict a minimum rank. so it's better to get at least close to a 100 marks. 😎 Being a bio student you are actually given an unfair advantage over PCM students😅 as bio usually takes lesser time and effort to solve than maths and hence you could use your bio skills to boost your marks in the lowest time possible. : ).

Hi congrats for getting an amazing score in IAT. Going by previous year stats you have a decent chance of getting into the top IISERs. so, be hopeful. IISER doesn't usually reveal the rank of the students in IAT but there are many unofficial records of the same that are easily available on the internet. However you can say that most of the top IISERs would require a score above 100 in IAT. Will upload a detailed video soon. :)

Thanks for the comment and to answer your question. Cracking IAT is statistically easier for PCB folkz like you as it usually takes lesser time and effort to attempt the bio section than the math part. so you could use your bio skills to boost your marks in the lowest time possible. Also having bio might help you solve some chemistry questions as biomolecules is a usually asked concept.

You can definitely try for the admissions being a PCB student but IAT has PCMB syllabus nevertheless they just want students to pass a certain score regardless the subjects in which it was scored unlike JEE ADV. And regarding the board scores. Generally the boards cutoff is around 80 percent. but with various reservations and reductions in cutoff in past years. We could expect some decrease in cutoff but it is not confirmed. Let's hope that they would make things a little less stringent with the current pandemic situation. 🤞

Well as I am a first year student. I may not have a clear idea about this . But as far as I know. After your BS-MS at IISER. You would have already worked on your research subject and published a master's thesis. If your thesis is very impressive then you might get recommendations to some great institutes right away. Or you may have to work at some area of research. Until your portfolio would be sufficient enough to apply at some reputed institution. Hope it helps. And do look up for some reliable source for a better answer...😁

Well, I didn't have very amazing percentage in 12th cause I wasn't focusing too much on boards. So, I ended up getting a 83% on total in 12th which was just right for me to get into IISERs :)

I also wanted to get into iiser p after cracking kvpy sa aptitude test . But my interview wasn't good enough 😬 . And i missed kvpy sx 2020 year by just 2 marks 🥺 . There is still jee advanced , but i learnt cutoff for iisc is pretty low for obc . And I already have about 6000 rank in mains . So, probably it less chance that i would join iiser pune. 🙁 But I hope i could meet you at the MIMAMSA someday .
