My Keen Targhee III hiking shoes. This is how they have performed over the past 9 months. Awesome!

These hiking shoes have been awesome. I use them every day. I am using my 3rd pair and just purchased my 4th pair for next season! Since this video aired, I have had only one defect on the shoe due to a piece of sole that is peeling away on the edge. However, I have been on some really rough and tough trails with them. I actually think it was my own fault as the adhesive was weakened because I had my shoe to close to the fire while in camp. No matter, I am a continued user. Maybe Keen will reach out to me to do a follow up review or test of another product! Thanks for watching.

I have a pair of KEEN Sandals and they are awesome. I have also had to purchase new Boots, So I have now a new pair of Merrell's, but nowhere to wear them as of yet as we are not allowed to travel further than 10km or for work. Wow! you have worn those Keen's very well. Love the cowboy hat. I hope they will give you lots of wear on the coming hikes. Great review.

I am completely sold on these shoes now after just completing 76.5 mile through hike across the Uinta Mountains in Utah. Videos to come soon. Super rugged country and they held up great. I hope you get to have your travel restrictions let up soon. I've had that Stetson cowboy hat since for over 34 years and used to wear it regularly. Hi from Scotland. I've had my Targhee 3s for 2 years now and they've been great. I do a lot of outdoor trekking, hillwalking and photography. I have wide feet and these are perfect straight from the box. Starting to wear down on the outsides because I pronate that way. No problems with soles coming off. If I have one criticism it is this; I do a lot of beach and shoreline photography and they're not the best on wet rock. That said they are so comfortable. I need new shoes now though and have been looking around. Meindl make really comfortable wide shoes/boots but are very expensive. Keen's Ridge Flex Waterproof Hiking Shoes look pretty good but not available in wide in Europe. Can't understand that. So I will probably stay with the 3s.

@@Packsalot Yes. I like outdoorgearlab. I'll probably stick with the targhee 3 shoes. Keen have a new product out called Ridge Flex which is supposed to eliminate the creasing across the top. Keen told me wide version not available in Europe. Incidentally do you happen to know what the 'M' on the right side of the size label on the tongue means?

@@burt5057 I'm pretty sure that the 'M' is the gender, Men. Other shoes and shoe brands are cross gender and will show shoe sizes for male and female on the tag. I believe this particular shoe is just men.

Keen shoes have been the only shoe that I can wear. Anytime i try wearing another brand, the next day my feet hurt. The problem I also have is the sole failing issue. I work doing house & commercial construction work for 40-50 hours a week and all my shoes have been put thru hell. It seems that they all last only 8 months tops. I will have to try the Targhee 3's.

Thank you, Justin. If you decide to buy some I hope they treat you as well as they have me. Wear and tear is equal to the miles & abuse put on them. I put a ton on them, wear them every day, and beat the crap out of them climbing mountains. Mine are usually looking to be replaced about every 8 months or so too. So worth it for me though. Good review! I bought some Keen shoes from Cabelas last Christmas (on sale). I will have to look up the model. I have hiked maybe 50-60 miles this year. thus far and I have been impressed. They seem to be quite waterproof compared to other water proof shoes I have used. I like a study, rigid sole in a shoe and these are quite sturdy. My backpacking boots are Scarpa's and are heavy but very sturdy and rigid. I know I am the exception, but I like a stiff boot for backpacking. I have tried just doing day hikes with trail runners and I much prefer to have something more substantial on my feet.

Ken had several models but the Targhee III is the best one I've found for hikers. I like a stiff boot too for some of my hikes. For those trips I've been using the Salomon Quest 4D. They are on the high side of mid height and are very sturdy and waterproof. A bit pricey though. Thanks for the watch and comment. Take care.

Appears to be a great shoe. I've been on a trail runner thing for a couple years now but I can see how these could be a better option. I've yet to get 9 months out of any trail runner. I'm lucky to get 6 months.

The best hike can be ruined by uncomfortable boots/shoes/saddles. I have a local make that I always use and I can wear then straight out the box. I prefer a boot but as a shoe, they looked good and if they are tough and comfortable, you got a winner there, cheers Alan

I know the upper in the front is a brown color, and the rest of the bits are black. What color is the strip that runs from the front of the shoe to the middle? Is it grey or a bit greenish? I've seen pictures where that appears greenish, but it's mostly grey in your video. What color is it in person? Thanks!!!

Thanks for watching and commenting. These shoes have been great for me! I wear them all day every day. I wear them to work, for play, around the house, hot weather, cold weather, all seasons, all activities. My feet have a tendency to get hot too. Socks make a difference to regulate heat. I can hike all day in the heat without a problem but I have noticed that it helps to take them off periodically either when you are done with your hike or at the end of the day to cool my feet and air out the shoe. Hmm, I would because these shoes are very comfortable to me However, everybody's feet are different. Standing all day or for warehouse type work it seems to me that a super lightweight heavy cushioned sole sneaker might be better. I think that might be a better question for a shoe salesperson at shoe store. Good luck.

Interesting that they are so good. The Keen closed toe sandals are absolute trash and last about a month and a half. Their customer service was also a joke.

I have had some that are not as good as others but this Targhee line have been great especially this latest version. Hopefully I will never need to call customer service. Maybe if you need a closed toe style these might be your ticket?

@@Packsalot I was looking for a shoe that I could hike and wade in the water to fish. Twice i purchased the Keen sandals and each time the stitching around the heel gave out in a few weeks. When I contacted Keen they basically told me it wasn't their concern. From that point on I swore off all Keen products. I have some sandals from Bass and Merrill that have lasted over 2 years that have been adequate but not very comfortable after they were wet. I have a pair of water shoes from Huk being delivered this weekend to try out.
