Probably in the 1970's, Bob Uecker was not a household name but Lite Beer from Miller hired him for a single advertisement: Bob is at a ballpark, a bit late to a game, walking down the stairs to his seat and talking to the camera about how he can get Tickets to a game any time. "Call the front office and Bingo", holding up the tickets for the camera as he is making his way down the stairs with refreshments in hand. Eucker is sitting in some great seats but an Usher has responded to a complaint from an average man who is seen waiting. "You're in the wrong seat fella." Says the Usher.. So Eucker gets up and (still talking to the camera the whole time) says; "Oh, I must be in the front row." 18:17 Bob had a way of delivering Lines that just made you want to quote him and boy did that line ever catch on all over the country. (Anyway, after they told you about the beer, we cut back to Bob who is now sitting nearly alone in the nosebleed section...). Eucker went on to make several more commercials for that beer but they never wrote him another Line as good as that one. I believe that that got him his job in broadcasting and then television and then the movies. What a likeable guy.

My favorite character is Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn. Lou Brown I still liked and sadly in Major League 2 he needed Jake to coach because he had to be taken to the hospital due to having a heart attack from screaming at the team. It was probably for the best because if it wasn't for Jake coaching that bit where he tells Dorn to intentionally get hit by the pitch just to get on base idea wouldn't have happened along with Cerrano giving them the lead with a homerun during the final game against the White Sox. I honestly don't think Lou Brown would've had that idea up his sleeve.

His name was Billy Glynn from Franklin NJ (our home town). Early before ww2 my grandfather's brother was picked up by the Yankees and played triple A for them until he got drafted, his name was Jack Glynn also from Franklin NJ, after the war he stayed in Europe and was in charge of the allied sports teams.

Fun fact we all know that Wesley Snipes didn't return to play Willie Mays Hays for Major League 2 and Omar Epps replaced him to play the character but to dig deeper into that Wesley Snipes wasn't even the first choice to play Hays in the first movie. Eddie Murphy was considered for the role but declined. I can totally see Murphy with his comedic gold kicking ass in that role but he was super busy in the 80s and his comedy and action was through the roof.

I grew up in Cleveland also. Huge Indians fan. Every off season I would follow the sportswriters talking up the young players, how management had a three year plan to bring the AL pennant to Cleveland. Then in the off season team would sell the best players to the Yankees for cash. That was in the early 60s. Went to a lot of games at municipal stadium, mostly to be alone. lol. 74,000 seat stadium and they would have maybe 5 thousand in the stands. Then there was 10cent beer night. They sure knew their fans.

Remember back when baseball was a great game and players played for the love of the game. Back before the MLB became a money harvesting machine. Back before a teams ownership would just turn it's back on five decades, and in my case, three generations of die-hard fans so he can move the club to Las Vegas. Back when Cleveland's ball club was still the Indians and not the Guardians, boy there's a name rich in tradition.
