Did you take them to a vet? I don't know if this will help, but: I rescued two newborns years ago,whose mother had been killed by a car. They were on Kitten formula but they had a deficiency in calcium and before they were even walking not even crawling their bones were thin and fragile. I took them to my vet immediately when I noticed that one of the kittens legs looked unusual. They had a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. They just couldn't take up enough calcium and their bones were very thin and fragile. My vet said this was treatable and gave me a high calcium formula recipe using goats milk and calcium and other supplements that I blended up daily and fed them, and within a few weeks their bones started forming naturally. I continued adding this calcium formula to their solid wet food when they started eating wet food and the condition resolved. They were perfectly normal and lived well into old age with no bone issues. I don't know if this recipe would help with this condition. I would check with your vet. If so, I think that any vet would have this recipe or be able to find it. I unfortunately no longer have the recipe. It was a long time ago so I do not remember how to make it. Good luck. I will keep you and the kitties in my prayers

The distance between legs should be much wider, especially at the beginning. Now they were tied together, how can they walk?
@melissaymf13883 жыл бұрын
you are right! the distance between legs should be hip-width

Hi Gina, I actually taped their legs too closely together in this video. The better way is to tape their legs hip-width apart. Hope this helps!

this is the first time I have had I kitten. sir this time I had for kids them had this famous syndrome. I didn't know about these that it was a problem am I am kittens. I only get to know it on KZbin videos. so apan watching the videos I finding my kittens legs together with the bandage. I have no experience but the KZbin videos help me a lot. I saw improvement in my kitten in less than 24 hours after applying the bandages. He pull up the bandages by herself.... anywhere in 3 days almost recovered and I remove the bandages and rest of the recovery was done naturally. and one thing I want to mention is that I only tied the thighs of the kitten. so the distance between the thighs is as much as the kitten can walk after the bandages are bined. it shouldn't be too tight or too lose.

Hi what happens if theyre 5 month old and walks outwards?
@melissaymf13882 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I think you can still try to tape their legs (hips-width apart) to see if they can adapt and learn the correct walking posture…

There should be at least an inch n a half between kitties back legs. That SHORT piece of tape immobilized the kitty 🥰🥰🥰💋💋💯💯

If you wish Kiki to be more attractive than sitting and watching, you need to give her a positive and rewarding activity. Such as playing with a wand stick with her. Kiki should focus on play and her natural instinct to stalk and pounce. It should not take long for Kiki to have the desire to chase and catch that moving object.

Watching this Really bothers me because I just corrected this in rear legs and if you had just gone to the kitten lady's website you would see that you wrapped these legs completely wrong his legs completely wrong also when you don't do the front legs right you're looking at a death situation the lungs can become compressed I don't know you I don't subscribe to you and I have to admit that I haven't seen anything since this so maybe you have something posted that I missed and if so then I apologize but if you haven't done anything beyond this then I'm sad for the cat honestly that's disappointing

thank you for your concern, Stacey. I admit that the way their little legs were taped were wrong and yes, we should have taped the fronts too but we couldn't bring ourselves to do it seeing how they struggled with it. We taped their back legs for about 4 hours, and then we didn't tape ever since. Luckily they responded really well to it and we could see they started knowing how to splay their legs lesser and lesser. Today, they are vibrant, happy teenage cats and we are very grateful that they turned out well.

@@melissaymf1388 you are extremely lucky. Typically front legs w swimmer syndrome untreated, leads to a a compressed cavity- they suffocate. To death. Thank God.. you had something of a miracle.

@@melissaymf1388 the tape is a godsend you're right they do t like it.. but honestly, it makes them able to go from not standing to ably moving w purpose and walking. They struggled definitely moreso without it. It's really too bad. They will never be able to walk fully properly or jump high. Of course they won't know this.. so some ignorance is bliss.. but tou will know qhen you see them struggle with things Normal legs can tackle I'm sure you love them. Guess I just want to impress upon should you ever run into this again to do the work and taping..it's so worth it. It will change the quality of thier lives the entire lives. It's NOTHING to feel you are doing that causes suffering. No moreso than training wheels or teaching a child to walk in a walker w wheels.. it was within your power to do more. Blessings

@@melissaymf1388 sorry for several replies. PLEASE, refer the people that are now looking to you for direction on how yo fix or address swimmers syndrome. . To " the kitten lady" here on you tube. She isn't someone I know but she does it right and her cats are perfectly agile after. Otherwise people I see asking you what to do for them.. the truth is ypu should let them know that is not the proper way N to the lady who said they were taped too closely she is actually wrong.. but the knees must be taped above as well or it's useless. Again you're so very lucky Take care.
