Please never ever delete this video. When my mum pointed out one of my 3.5 week kittens was walking differently, and after researching it confirming it was swimmers syndrome I felt so helpless and useless. I watched a few videos but the kittens all were larger and so when I came across your method I was over the bloody moon. We are on day 2 with your method (day 3 with the other included but i didn’t manage to wrap the tape like they said, only did my best) and there is already a massive difference. It gets me so mad to think that a veterinarian with all their years of schooling can be so cold-hearted and cruel to euthanize ( nice word for kill) a poor defenseless tiny baby kitten. I thought people became veterinarians because they wanted to save animals not to kill them . Why don't all the Vets know about this from their schooling? Maybe you could find a way to send your video to All the vet schools. You are smarter than they are. Something so simple to save all of them that were born this way. Then they go on to lead normal happy lives. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this wonderful video to help other people with kittens with this problem. I am sure it will save many more kittens from being euthanized. May God bless you for your wonderful work that you do.

This is curable. I did this to one of my kittens and the results were seen within 24 hours. I planned to run a 7 day therapy. But it only took less than 3-4 days. Just tie up (loosely) legs as much as the kitten can walk normally. Don't stretch the tapes too much. let them walk itself.
@notyourbusiness41682 жыл бұрын
I only have shiny floors so no traction for tinny claws. As a result all kittens my cat brought into this world were swimmers. It corrected without me doing anything as soon as they got strong enough to climb on furniture like textile covered armchairs and beds with loose sheets. At about 6 weeks of age. At about 3 months of age they are usually capable to go play in my garden outside and return home to sleep, eat, etc. whenever they feel like. No swimming in the garden and plenty of traction for little paws :) Before seeing this video I thought swimming is normal for all fresh born kittens and turns into normal movements about the time they start playing with their peers.

This tape really worked yet we found we didnt need to cut it in half, The area that we bound that worked was just below the foot pads on the feet... We used paperclips to prevent the tape from being pulled off the feet. We had the brace on for four days, and took it off to give kitten a break, and then after a couple days we put on a new brace for four more days and it was a done deal after that-The kitten walks and jumps and runs just fine now. @yborcats23542 жыл бұрын
If you have swimmers and non-swimmers in the litter and you can tell those that are swimmers are not getting up on the back legs like the others, 2-3 weeks should be good. If none are walking yet, wait until 3-4 weeks. You should leave the tape on for a least a week at a time. Change it if they get it dirty or if it breaks but the tape should stay on their legs for at least a full week of therapy and then you can take it off to see how they are walking. If they need it on more because their feet are still apart or they are not under them, then try it for a few days at a time after and test their walking.

Yes. Directly on the fur. It pulls on the fur a bit and they might loose a little but you need a good adhesion or they will keep pulling it off.

Have you used a supplement such as calcium? The first veterinarian we showed our kitten said that he had rickets and gave calcium, another said congenital anomaly and said calcium can be harmful. Do you have any ideas?

We didn’t and have not used any supplements. Just the braces and the leg movements for PT

Hello. I have a kitten, one of of four in a litter (mom cats first litter) and the kittens front legs have seem to be naturally "folded" inwards. Kitty can bend them back normal as in how the legs should be, but her front legs are long so she collapses and wants to try and walk with her front paws folded in (kinda at the feet), screams in pain and splays out on all fours and wont move. Is that swimmers syndrome in front legs? All advise appreciated.

That doesn’t sound like swimmers as it usually dose not seem to cause pain the the kittens, they don’t act as if they are in pain. I’d definitely have the kitten checked out

@@yborcats2354, that I will do. Thank the Lord I do have someone that can help to get the little fur baby to a vet. Plus there is such a thing as euthanasia is not an answer with the folks I know. 🙏

I noticed that once they got their legs under them (day 7) u stopped bandaging them. Im at the same stage now my cat got his legs under him but the part under his ankle is still a bit splayed out. Should i just leave it to time or should i keep bandaging him?

У котенка который не так давно открыл глазки ситуация противоположная, лапки будто изогнуты из внутренней стороны, тоесть они соеденены друг с другом и это выглядит как лягушачьи лапки когда они вытянуты, ели ползает задними....

Sir, i just wanna say thank you for sharing this video and i really appreciate. My new born kitten have this syndrome right now and I think it is worst than that but ill try this out right now with a electrical tape. Watching from Philippines by the way.😁

You may want to keep an eye on the kitten for a bit before starting the therapy. It’s usually not evident they are swimmers until 3 weeks of age or so.

@@yborcats2354 they were born last August but still small tho. I tried it right away after watching your video. Thing is, she always stumble everytime she walk head first. I think this is hereditary since this is not the first time. I always make sure to help her when she eats cuz she cant properly lower her head to feed.

@SHEKINAH RILLON, I'm sorry to say but she died last October 2021. Her condition worsen after she refused to eat po for several days. I usually feed my cats with sardines because they love it compared to other cat food in the market. Regarding with the electrical tape po, there are drawbacks. I need to replace it everyday after she excretes. It worked actually, at first it was awkward but eventually her feet slowly turned to normal after 4 weeks of trying. And her walk, still quite awkward but she kept trying everyday. I always watch and help her even though I was studying for my tests and exams. I shed tears after she died and still hard to accept it even today.
