My Koi Breeding Project - Part 37 - Goshiki fry hatch, Kujaku fry update and rethink on brine shrimp

In this video we look at the fry from the weekend's Goshiki spawning which are now free swimming. The Kujaku fry are starting to develop shine and pigmentation.
The brine shrimp hatchery detailed in the previous video - • My Koi Breeding Projec... - has been upscaled.
Freeze dried daphnia also enter the food menu.

Brilliant! So happy to see so many Goshiki fry after the trouble with the Kujaku, with such large numbers maybe the smaller amount of Kujaku is a blessing in disguise as you’ll need the room now, let’s also hope that within the reduced number of Kujaku there are a few stunners in amongst them. 🙂

Hi Mark great vids keep them coming... You mentioned in one of your vids that you would like to do Brine Shrimp on a larger scale. How about a Fast Forment it's used in home brewing and it holds 30L it would lend itself to the job brill. Amazon have them in at £75.

I was thinking more on the line of it's shape and how you can syphon from the bottom and with the screw top lid were you could send the airline down. Keep up the good work between you and the other KZbinr's letting us in on the Koi world in's and out's and how we can enjoy are hobby even more.

Hey Mark, I've been using rock salt solution ( at a salinity of 0.025 ) with great yield and one teaspoon of eggs per liter of water. Have you determined what hatch rate you are getting? Your harvest should be at least twice the volume of the eggs you set.

I haven’t measured, but way more than 2 teaspoons settles at the bottom

@@MarkGardnerNTVfree A 16 ounce tin of bs eggs cost me $450 so I can relate to the importance of its efficient usage. You should be harvesting at least 18 teaspoons of baby bs from that new larger bottle. Best of luck with the fry :)
